I wouldn't be surprised to see us take Mckay over Weideman at 7. Either way I'm happy with any combo of Parish/Oliver with Weideman/Curnow/Mckay.
-
Yeah true. I keep changing my mind over and over. I'm almost certain we will take one of Parish or Oliver pick 3. There will be a forward available at 7 and they will know it.
-
I don't think we need a genuine tall, just someone who can kick goals alongside Hogan.
-
I think it will go the following (without academy selections). 1: Weitering 2: Schache 3: Oliver 4: Parish 5: Weideman 6: Milera 7: Curnow

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN
DistrACTION Jackson replied to xman97's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the results will be kept fairly secret. -
We've been sorting out the midfield the last 2-3 years. Tyson, Salem, Petracca, Brayshaw, ANB, Stretch, Viney, Melksham, Vandenberg- these guys are all midfield talents brought in recently. We will also definitely bring in another mid with one of our first two picks. I am 100% certain we will take a forward with one of our first two picks- I'm not sure who it will be though.

I'm predicting Parish at 3 and McKay at 7.

Imagine the hybrid child.......

I really like that they have involved Daisy Pearce in this and are getting her name more and more out there. She is a great ambassador for the club and also for women's football. It makes me proud to follow the club that has put so much time and effort into growing the game and getting more women involved.

Ever since Yze finished up I've been wanting a silky smooth operator back in 13! I used to love watching Ooze play!

I noticed Ben Kennedy changed is instagram name to benkennedy35 so I had guessed that's what he would wear. Darcy Parish 13??

Training - Monday 9th November, 2015
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love the way he goes about it. I imagine he would be pretty demanding of high standards in all the youngsters which is a great thing to have. -
Yeah that doesn't really make sense. Why would you go from Francis/Curnow to Parish/Weideman? Surely it would go Parish/Curnow or something like that.

2015 Player Review - # 37 Aaron vandenBerg (R)
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Very happy with his first season. I think he is the kind of player that we don't need to be A grade but just do everything that's asked of him. I think of Max Rooke, he was never super talented but was used as an enforcer which I think vanDenberg is perfect for that role. He will be a key cog in the machine for the next 4-5 years. -
Melbourne Football Club Training - November, 2015
DistrACTION Jackson replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
If you have Instagram follow Rob Jackson fitness. He is the fitness guy at Melbourne and I have seen a number of photos of the guys already into training. Yesterday it was Dunn, Dawes, Viney and Petracca doing some kind of circuit work. -
Someone made a comparison to Ben Cousins of Darcy Parish. Watching that video on the Swans webpage I can definitely see why. Lets just hope he doesn't turn out exactly like Ben Cousins......

This comment sums it up completely. So many clubs have stuffed up draft picks (of course we have more so than others). The goods sides just move on and know that a draft pick is just a number and has nothing to do with how the player turns out. I think that is the way our club is run now, took us long enough though!
-
I think the Tigers actually do (Tambling and Oakley-Nicholls).
-
There is zero chance Schache slips past Brisbane. They are crying out for a tall forward and he actually wants to play for them. If they did pass on him it would be the worst drafting blunder.
-
I think there is a good chance as he seems fairly limited from what I have read (granted I haven't watched him play). The reason I had Mathieson at pick 5 is that I think the Bombers will likely take one of Francis/Curnow pick 4 and will want another young mid at pick 5 with Watson and Stanton getting on.
-
Great news if that's the case. I hate basing judgement off a highlights package as it can be made to look as good or as poor as the person creating it likes. I trust the recruiters have watched enough to know who is the best pick at number 3. I think the most interesting thing will be who we take at number 7. The write ups of Weideman aren't that promising and I definitely wouldn't want to 'reach' for a player just because we think we might need another tall forward. With the way trading gets done these days it's best to just pick best available and then trade in to fill holes.
-
I think looking at that highlights video of Parish he seems underwhelming. Though I think his overall season and U18 championships was very good. I also think that his test results don't do him justice and he is one of those players that doesn't do anything exceptional but does everything very well. I'm not sold on him personally but I think he ticks our biggest need, speed and skill with competitiveness.
-
My tip is as follows (not including the academy picks): 1) Weitering 2) Schache 3) Parish 4) Francis 5) Mathieson 6) Milera 7) Curnow
-
I'd say from the reports that we are 99% certain to take Parish at number 3. I hope with pick 7 we take a natural goal kicker, whether that be a tall forward or medium sized forward. I'd imagine it will be out of whoever is available between Weideman, Francis, Curnow and Milera. I also wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Burton from Adelaide who seems like a natural forward. We need genuine goal kickers as mush as we need mids.

They've already agreed to upgrade VDB and on the website he is on our primary list. Not sure what they will do with Harmes, I imagine they are weighing it up.
