I wouldn't have even bothered responding to that...

Time to go Goody?
Agreed. However the Hawks looked as bad as us early last year and then suddenly became world beaters. Personally I'm giving it until half way through the year before writing off Goody or anything like that.

Time to start a rebuild?
Full slash rebuilds are not the way. We've already been rejuvenating the list so it isn't needed. Just have to keep picking the right players to compliment the youngsters we already have.

Time to go Goody?
100% agree. Could say the same thing about the 2023 finals series, kick 9.17 against the Blues you can't really blame Goodwin for that when you generate that many shots. I guess the one blame is the gameplan wasn't conducive to generating high quality shots, but still should've won by 3-4 goals.

Harvey Langford Rising Star nomination Rd 3
Doesn't seem to bother the Bont

Time to go Goody?
I'd say it would be similar to sides like Hawthorn and Giants. Looking to score more points from the defensive half, which is what the best sides are doing and why us and Carlton are both struggling.

It's actually a lot of our senior players who are letting us down atm. Trac I will give some grace to given he is coming back from a life threatening injury, so it may take some time before he is fully confident in his abilities again. Viney has been atrocious and genuienly should be up to be dropped atm. Maxy is struggling to impact games. Fritsch we know about. Langdon is a bit lost in his new role it seems. May can no longer kick so why he still takes kick outs is beyond me.

Time to go Goody?
Goody did also say in an interview that it will take time, especially early season. So he was definitely upfront and honest with that assessment. Whether he is the right person to take us forward I’m not sure, but at least the club is working on changing the list so we can compete again. Look at the players we brought in who have actually been in our top handful players so far, Lindsay and Langford. Both are elite runners and kicks, which we lacked up until the last few years. It’s blindingly obvious our main issues atm are a lack of personnel to execute the gameplan but also I think because it isn’t ingrained, players are second guessing themselves a lot which leads to skill errors. We need to move forward with the times though so no going back now, full steam ahead with the modern gameplan and seeya to players who get left behind.

Xavier Lindsay Update?
I just dropped to my knees in Woolworths and cried

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
Who cares if a side does ‘steal’ a flag, it’s irrelevant. All that matters is one side wins the grand final each year and we did it in 2021. Do we think the dogs care that their 2016 flag was from 7th, had a good run with umpires and got helped by the first year of pre finale bye. I bet their fans Couldn’t give a toss

Xavier Lindsay Update?
Very happy with Lindsay anyway

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
I’ve been a Goodwin supporter and no doubt the issues aren’t all to do with him, but I think this side needs a new voice. Very happy I’m on a golf trip in Swan Hill so missed the game today…. Very flat. Has there been any word on Lindsay? I love that guy already so flat he will miss potentially the season.

Time to go Goody?
I think we would've given our future first, which means no Xavier Lindsay....

Trade Targets
Perhaps. We will learn if that is the case this season I think. I’m still not going full rebuild mode and trading off players for picks, it rarely works out well.
-
Trade Targets
Potentially I think from 2027, but more the reason to trade them for ready made players perhaps… just depends who is available. My feeling is we have already invested heavily in the draft and the time is now to go for specific players to fill needs. We need to go again for another flag while we have Trac, Clarry, Lever over the next 3-4 years.

Trade Targets
I hope Miles Bergman is on our radar if Farrell is re-signing. Hes a solid half-back/wingman and would add depth in our 24/25/26 year old age gap we have at the moment.

2025 MFC Injury List
He had been one of the best players in the VFL two years in a row, so deserved another crack. Unfortunately his body just keeps breaking down while on our list.

Trade Targets
Guest appearances on the cooking show.... good idea

Trade Targets
2026 first round and 2027 first round, plus all the other picks. We need to get creative this year and next and go hard at ready made players who can impact.

Trade Targets
Bummer….

Trade Targets
He spoke to Grundy, but he isn't involved in the actual recruitment process of identifying players. You must have misunderstood what I mean, I don't mean Gawn and Trac should be looking for trade targets, that's just ridiculous. Just that if there is a stigma about the club with potential targets then the leaders should be involved.

Trade Targets
I think the club need to get guys like Trac and Gawn involved in discussions with players, like Geelong have done in the past. Only way to get past these issues are for them to give their opinions to incoming players and why they think it will be great place to play.

2025 MFC Injury List
I think Laurie is contracted for another season, so I'm guessing he will be gone end of 2026 if we don't see big improvements. McAdam also has another year so I guess we will see how that plays out. The club will be desperate for Kozzy to stay, so I guess we will see. Campbell you could probably give another 1 year, basement bargain contract to as depth but we need to start scouring for longer term ruck options.
