  1. I’ve generally been a 10-12 game per year attendee for the last 15 years but since now having 3.5 and 1.5 year old kids it might be a little while until I can attend again consistently. In my absence my folks have been attending with my Membership and have constantly struggled (this year) with the trains - almost every time it’s taken them 1.5hrs to get home to Oakleigh! And they live virtually next to the station. So many factors are having an influence on crowd numbers and that’s on top of all the bad press the AFL is getting for umpiring, ticket prices, waiting times and pricing for food, etc etc.
  2. Very happy with the win. Was always going to be a bit of a slog - with the conditions seeming to have a significant affect - all the slipping and fumbling bringing the two sides closer together in quality. Glad we blew them away again in the last and hope Bowey has a few panadol and really hope our Footy Dept are looking after Chandler as he was unlucky to find himself in the position he now finds himself in. Decent tackle with no intended malice (in my view anyway), appeared to be just an aggressive football action - all part of the game - best of luck to him.
  3. I’ve got a conspiracy theory: When there is a Goal review (where the goal umpire asks for help from upstairs) quite often the resulting decision from upstairs is made almost instantly after the TV commentators have just given their summation / opinion of what they believe the correct decision will be. It’s literally a couple of seconds. And they’re always now on the same page, having same decision on what has occurred – but in previous years they never used to be.
  4. Excuse my ignorance on this one but is the West Coast team playing today all AFL listed players or do they still have top-ups?
  5. For all the Essendon haters, enjoy: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/essendon-bombers/afl-news-2022-essendon-ladder-position-david-king-says-bombers-are-uncompetitive-ben-rutten-coach-contract/news-story/cf0db8d361b99824f6f353b8f0a21eb6?fbclid=IwAR1UQeb_HAGSEuLIU06RIYFLABC_sXizP8DsTA4U_LOjkmtr4Ey9RGRMKi4
  6. Yep same issue here - have tried multiple work arounds but nothing has fixed the issue. Have just screengrabbed my QR code and forwarded that on to the recipient.
  7. Need some help: Best AFL radio to listen to while at the ground? Struggling to dial in and made a detour to JB Hi-Fi for the cause
  8. We should win and although the Suns might be plucky and playing at home, I’m feeling somewhat more confident knowing the team had a run on the ground last night, with rain - so basically the same conditions as tonight I imagine. Let’s hope we can crack in like last week and take the game away from them, and then keep going with it.
  9. Certainly interesting games tonight and tomorrow night.
  10. Thanks for posting, very interesting.
  11. Accidental Trackwatcher: Witnessed Jack Viney tearing around an oval doing sprints and laps before sunrise in Hawthorn this morning. Very eager and looks angry – I did not approach.
  12. The Grand Final game day ball with gold printed scores / names etc is now my most prized possession. It is a thing of beauty.
  13. Listening to Kane Cornes this morning from Perth he reckons the general support around town is in the Dees favour against the Doggies 80/20. If that translates even to 70/30 or 60/40 at the game then that’s a huge advantage on top of the fact we’ve already played some massive games at the same ground.
  14. This is what I would normally do throughout the year but the Grand Final is only broadcast on Ch 7 and 7 HD. Can these channels be paused?
  15. RADIO: Kingy and Jennings will be doing a full review and dissection of the two Dees v Dogs games from earlier this year on SEN at 11am.
  16. Merritt goes for a few weeks based on what Neal-Bullen got, right?
  17. Great day for it. Hope the boys are hungry, we could really do some damage today with a few players filling their boots and running into some form. Or it could easily be a tight struggle and turn into a stressful game for us all. Looking at Adelaide’s team I will be surprised if that happens as they have got holes all over the park, so we’d really need to be flat for that to happen.
  18. WTF line him up UMPIRE!!!
  19. Good game so far. Happy if they both bash each other up.
  20. Agreed. As well as our team has been playing over the course of the season and where we sit on the ladder, we still have losses to the Crows, Pies and GWS plus have been pushed all the way by Essendon. All currently bottom 10 teams. Can anyone really be 100% confident we will win? I don’t feel that yet. We are $1.08 to beat Hawthorn $8. Can’t ever remember seeing our odds so short.
  21. Bit biased as he was one of my favorite Dees players but Dean Kent has had a good game and if they’d kicked straight he’d have been involved in 4 or 5 goals in just the last quarter alone.
  22. Can't stand it just like everyone else here. It's dropped in quality so much since I was a kid. The Channel 7 commentators are briefed to dumb down the game and not get too tactical to ensure the game feels accessible to wider audiences – to its detriment in my opinion. You don't hear American football commentators leaving out all the technical stuff or Formula 1 commentators. Watching the Tour de France is only really possible because of the commentary (in my opinoin). It adds multiple other layers on top of what is hopefully already an interesting game. Anyway, I watch the footy via the Kayo app on a Smart TV with the sound off and then listen to the SEN commentary via my iphone. It's really easy to sync them with Kayo as you can just pause for a second to let the radio catch up or fast forward when needed, etc. Replays I watch back with Ch 7 which by that point you can just laugh at the biases when they appear.
  23. Umpiring is disgusting
