Reckon Ollie Henry plays as a forward a lot like Tom Hawkins (albeit 20/30kg lighter) - might be the succession plan

Watching via Kayo and 50% of the ads within the breaks are Sportsbet ads. I’m literally paying to watch ads that are enticing me to gamble with them. (Also every game ‘preview’ on the AFL website every week - with Richo and Browny - are produced with a Multi bet factored in that helps sell in their tip for the game). AFL needs to be better than this.

Harley Reid
The potential for Reid to Melbourne comes up in West Coast's write up: Ideal draft prospects: If the Eagles hold Pick 1 and Harley Reid is genuinely happy to go anywhere in the country to start his AFL career, the Eagles have to take him. A versatile 185cm star Reid is considered a generational talent – one experienced recruiter told foxfooty.com.auearlier this year Reid was the best prospect they’d ever seen – and would be hard to pass up if there was a genuine chance you could get him. He’s drawn comparisons to Dustin Martin and plays with an infectious attitude, yet he can play across any line — and win games from any line — with his power at stoppages, overhead marking ability, penetrating kick and knack for hitting the scoreboard consistently. Regardless of Reid’s preference, the Eagles still face a significant call on whether to hold their first pick or trade it away to acquire multiple selections and help accelerate their rebuild. Multiple clubs suggested to foxfooty.com.au last week the Eagles would be prepared to slide down the order if they could ‘guarantee’ they could still draft Daniel Curtin – WA’s top prospect who West Coast has strong interest in, according to rival clubs. For example, a deal with Melbourne (who currently have Pick 4, via Fremantle, plus 15 and 23) could work. The fact there’s a decent WA-based crop in this year’s draft pool makes splitting Pick 1 a more enticing option for the Eagles.

PREGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
Mmmm in Dangerfield's interview with Whateley a day or two ago on SEN you could literally hear Dangerfield suck up air before he answered every question. And Dangerfield himself said he has no idea how long he'll be out, said he wasn't even letting his kids jump all over him like usual given the pain/discomfort, etc – no chance he was playing this week.

Based on the broadcast and hearing from Luke Hodge (old team mate) - Mitch has played 100 games and been sacked by both teams so he gives the medal to the losing team when they play off.

Training and Trackwatching
Sorry Kev! While the invitation from the club to attend training was a very welcome one it was quite ambiguous with very little detail other than what time to be there and that there'd be free coffee and a briefing from the higher-ups. It sounded like it could potentially be a more formal thing with only a few members given the 'invitation' aspect so I didn't even bring my kids (even though they're on school holidays) as I thought they wouldn't be allowed given they aren't 10 year members (literally had my membership card ready if they were going to check!). Maybe silly on my part as it turned out to be a very casual affair and essentially open to anyone who wanted to be there.

TRAINING: Tuesday 18th April 2023
Didn't stick around for training but was there for a few words from Kate Roffey and Alan Richardson, left after the squad had been warming up for 20 mins or so. According to Richardson, at this stage it looks like Gawn will be playing this week (was very close last week) but they'll give him a few sessions this week and won't make the call until closer to game day. Richardson sounded less positive about Lever's chances for this week, wasn't a definitive 'no' but basically suggested he's not in Gawn's position of being over the ankle concerns he's got. Sounds like he might need another week. (Keen to hear what training he does). Salem still 4 weeks away at least. Brown was close last week but just been experiencing back soreness. Looked pretty good to me in the warmups (Keen to also hear what training he does). Roffey thanked all members and pushed for all those in attendance to get their Melbourne supporting non-member friends and acquaintances to sign up too, so get on board Demonlanders if you haven't already!
