  1. That's not my point you silly sausage: Lynch was never under our nose in our kennel, so to squeak.
  2. Looks like we chose Filopovic over the Big O, McInerney. The big fish we let slip away...He joins Stefan Martin, laughing all the way to posterity.
  3. I watched the first ten minutes. First clearance via Jones, long bomb... Next clearance via Jones, a pass which was nowhere on target. Ball spent 9 of those minutes in Melbourne's forward half, one goal. Essendon attacked twice, two goals. We miss Lewis, Vandenberg, May and Lever. Things are crook in Tallarook Or, Oi Friggin Weh..
  4. Sue, please read George Steiner about European Anti-Semitism: Dreyfus was only the surface. Anti-Semitism was rife everywhere. Steiner, in fact, said that based on Anti-Semitic discourse and actions in the 19th century, were you to predict where something as horrible as what the Nazis did would happen, you would have nominated France. Nazis didn't spring out of Wagner's music, they sprang from the political climate of 19th and early 20th century European history. I don't want to be controversial or argue with you, but if you want an insight into the depth and length and breadth of European Anti Semitism, please read Steiner. Or, read the text of Shakespeare's plays where there are Jewish characters.... Also, there are no Nazi themes in Wagner's music or his libretti. Most of them are based on quasi religious folkloric mumbo jumbo. The fact that Nazis played Wagner's music does not mean the music is anti-semitic. Had Wagner written specifically for Nazis in their time that would be different. The Nazis also played Anton Bruckner, a quaint devout Catholic who fell in love with chambermaids Or, if you want a really erudite discussion about Wagner's music have a chat with Daniel Barenboim.
  5. A dreadful imputation against the mighty Herald Sun, the Working man's paper, the paper for the masses, printed in Boganville, by Bogans who serve the bloke who wants them to remain there forever. Just give em footy, Davie Warner and the races, and the odd titillating cleavage revealing photo. Simple.
  6. Same went for a lot of 'great' men - and women. He's also, unfortunately, associated with the Nazis which is total lunacy because he died in 1883 and most people who make this association seem to be unaware that the Nazis appeared in Germany in the 1920's...
  7. Especially when it's main actions define an immoral compass...
  8. Don't think Jeffy is a VFL player, the stage is too small. Also, I think he's a victim of the coach's whims. In other words, ANB can get away with running like a hare and getting nowhere fast but that's ok, when someone like Garlett needs and deserves some smart midfield service which unfortunately doesn't seem to be part of the 'Game Plan'. What I know for sure is that Garlett will do more damage without half of the futile efforts of a plodder like ANB. It's the Eddie Betts principal. I don't want this to sound like a put down of Goodwin, but Goodwin, like all coaches, has his likes and dislikes. If it weren't for Roos, Dunn would have finished his dedicated Demon career at Melbourne. In the same way that Dean Terlich's days were numbered when Roos arrived. Once again, this is not a criticism of Roos, simply a fact of life that it's horses for coaches in this business, witness Sheedy and Kevin Walsh, Lyon and Dawson etc etc...
  9. It ain't luck, baby...It's fu.k.ng bul.[censored].
  10. Zis won is rather oblique to my 3 remaining teutonic brain cells. Vat are yu talkin about?
  11. I hear they have excellent facilities in both now, especially if you're cashed up.
  12. I'm not worried either: he's the best player I've seen at Melbourne after Flower - I've been watching since 1959, however if he improved this aspect he'd be even better.
  13. Just watched the reel of Oliver's million disposals against the Cats. I haven't been game to watch the replay of the whole game but it strikes me that Oliver has absolutely magical hands in close BUT most of his kicks are just long bombs. If he had elite foot disposal as well he'd be the perfect package, more importantly, some forwards might move to some space and take marks. Then we might score goals instead of racking up totally useless 'Inside 50' stats. Get onto it, Simon, get on to it straight away...
  14. AVB wasn't a VFL player. He came from Canberra/NSW...(Just for the record.)
  15. Before the season commenced I looked through the Injury list of all the clubs and noted that, as usual, the Richmond camp was more or less injury free, alright give or take an injury or two, as Leonard Cohen might have put it. I wondered about Melbourne's Injury management and came to the conclusion that it's a bloody long straw to blame professionals like Misson for the bad luck we've had with injuries. The first two games of the season have been not very kind to Richmond and kind of substantiates my hunch that it is the luck of the draw. It's almost scary, as though it's in the hands of the Injury Gods. I dislike the way Rance plays - his sneaky brutality and his Bollywood diving capers - I've never been a Riewoldt fan - his cousin seems a much more sympathetic human being - but I do wish them a speedy recovery. That's the kind of fellow I am, I suppose. In the meantime, draw your breaths and pray to that the Injury Gods have mercy on us. I am, note, not religious, maybe superstitious...
  16. In my clumsy way I was trying to agree with you.
  17. Are you really, really sure about that? I'm not. You obviously never did Commerce at school.( I didn't either.)
  18. You have the dude that took out Brereton at the first bounce of the '89 grand final, broke his ribs - a moment which I got and cheered about because finally someone had given this vicious c..t a dose of his own medicine - now pontificating on the so-called rules Christian is supposed to abide by. Please allow me to spit into a corner and call it what it is- a Circus.
  19. Even a finer replacement would be Lethal Leigh.
  20. Noted the displeasure with Christian's shall we say lenient decisions from SEN and Gerard Whateley and his Herald Sun offsider - Robbo - and I wonder how long the AFL can defer to this man's strange conclusions? What concerns me most is the blatant inconsistency.
  21. Just watched the Christian Justification segment and because I suffer from high blood pressure all I will say is the whimsical farce continues. The bloke Cunnington punched would have had to been near clinically dead before Christian would apply a suspension: minimum impact, you see. I recall the bloke who ran into May was rushed to hospital in an emergency ambulance....Also, it's apparently ok to do what May did - stand his ground - as long as the bloke who runs into you only gets his guts crushed, therefore serial offender Liam Jones, Ok son, just hand over some cash.It is all vanity and a striving after wind. There is nothing new under the sun.
  22. Preuss was quite what? Sorry, no offence meant, just my wicked sense of humour...
