Casey Demons v Box Hill Hawks - VFL Grand Final
Casey got killed in the ruck: probably the main reason they lost. The Box Hill Gent was very impressive with his 'feedouts' to running Box Hill players. Not having anyone taller than Pedersen made things rather difficult. Tim Smith is not a ruckman.

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
A lot of blame for the debacle attributed to one man???? Let's get things into perspective: the whole team failed yesterday. Why look for scapegoats?

The Other Preliminary Final
Melbourne's draw wasn't the toughest either.

I've also taken a loathing to the recent smug grin on Hardwicke's face. I have hated him ever since the Wallis/Hardwicke assault on Brad Green in the 2000 Grand Final.

The Other Preliminary Final
I wrote on Demonland after the Bulldog match that the Tigers are beatable. That's why I would have preferred to play them should we win tomorrow. Collingwood are the smokey fairy tale story of 2018. The Dees have stolen the fairy tale so far and long may it continue but after tonight I rate Collingwood.

The Other Preliminary Final
There's a part of me which - if we win tomorrow - fears the E Coli Wobblers more than the Tigers. They gave us a bath on Queens Birthday and that man Cox looks onimous ( sic ), too onimous for my liking...

Have you read Finnegans Wake, by any chance? You seem like a well read Maldon Boy. Good second hand bookshops in the area, I understand...

Try reading it backwards or upside down. Persist, young man, persist.

To all you embarrassed naysayers, all I can say is, well, the players and Goodwin have proven you wrong. Long live workplace democracy. And I would have thought the Adelaide Football Club experience with their camp might make you think twice. But no, a troglodyte who wants army style robots on the football field will always believe in Boot Camps Full Metal Jackets style. Interesting too, the same roll call of the same people I disagree with just about everything else about feature above.

Dear Bros and Sisters. Late last year the brooding naysayers reacted self-righteously and flung lots of pooh pooh on the players who Don Piked on the Pre Season Camp Horror, flung more pooh pooh at the administration, and with all the smugness the tough and the righteous carry in their back pockets gave this as A. Yet another example of why this club is a permanent bottom dweller, and B. as all the proof they needed - as though they still needed some - that the players have no integrity, grit, balls ete etc and C. proof that Simon Goodwin was a lousy coach who had lost the players. I recall reading all this with total amusement, especially when the 'Toughen them up, being humiliated and turned into a feckless puppet never hurt anyone' brigade came thundering down the mountain. Go eat your own pooh pooh to all these muppets, is all I can say.

I owe it all to Demonland
I'm 68, man. Fell in love while watching the demons get belted by Collingwood in the 1958 Grand Final at my grandmother's house in North Sunshine. I always barrack for the under dogs. I was at cricket practice in 1964 when Ray Gabelich wobbled into goal and thought we'd succumbed. Big Nellie saved us. Has bin a lonely road ever since.

Sober Reflection
Fellow Demonland lunatics, let us now go quietly into the next few nights, let us cogitate and hope, let us not get carried away with despair or prem rejoicing, let us take what comes with calm and sober equanimity. We have been here before, to have our pulses ruptured in 1987, our guts ripped out in 1988 and 2000. There were false dawns in between - I recall an Anzac Day game against Essendon in 1991 or so, 49 points ahead at three quarter time and getting dumped down the gurgler - and I recall an infamous final against the Crows where we were 50 points behind, then 50 points in front and still got dumped down the trash can. Che sera, sera. If we beat the West Coast let us hold our breath because then we will have to beat either the E Colli Wobblers or Riche Monde and always the umpires. We cannot rely on miracles. We can only rely on the fortitude and nous of our front line troops. Ora Nobis.
