  1. He didn't jump, run or move the same way he did last year: that's not form. He had surgery, I believe, over the break...
  2. The basis of our forward line's success in 2018 was Tom Mac. Melksham was not far behind, Hannan was a consistent contributor, and when it mattered - very late in the season, including 2 of the three finals, Weidemann put up his hand. Fritch and Garlett at times, and Spargo were very handy as well. As was Neal Bullen. This season Tom Mac has played injured or not at all - he fired up in one solitary game - Melksham has been injured, ditto Weidemann, Garlett and Hannan. Fritch played back because of the lack of May, Lever, Jetta and Hore and Hibberd at times. Spargo simply went backwards because of the chaos created by our inability to replace our first graders. But that's seen as an inexcusable 'Excuse' by some. It's not an excuse, in my opinion, just the simple facts. It is what it is. I haven't even mentioned the lack of Vandenberg and J. Smith...
  3. What has the 2019 fiasco season got to do with Pert????
  4. The point is, surely, some of them WERE NOT FULLY FIT. T.Mac and Viney, just for starters....
  5. It's like the way when coppers commit crimes they are investigated by their peers and invariably found kosher....
  6. Plapp went because he wore pointy toed shoes when he coached VFL. I know this for a fact. I've seen them with my own 4 eyes. They were totally incongruous in a sea of footy boots...
  7. How the f did you know that? Both my knees are crippling me...
  8. Me. I'd have them playing Wagner and Beethoven on their ear phones while the coach talked his twaddle.
  9. No, he Russian, actually, changed his name from Chaliapin, famous Russian Bass voiced Opera singer. That's why he doesn't seem too animated in the box, he's got Boris Goodunov playing on his earphones. Don't believe me, hey? I have inside information. That's why he was sacked. Goodwin only likes Rossini
  10. Not when we played them in the Under 16's...especially on their home ground where the stench from the abattoirs floated up from the Maribyrnong...
  11. Albion, we lived opposite Selwyn Park, then home of Sunshine Football and Cricket clubs, VFA, Sub District cricket...
  12. Ya, it's my real name, always had difficulty spelling it, but in the end I'd rather be called Dieter than Chookrat - that's meant to be a joke, as Mark Twain said, German jokes may not always be laughing matters, or words to them affects...❤??
  13. Rigor mortis is a state of the minefield...
  14. If you can maintain a sense of humour reading the armageddon topics and posts on Demonland since the pooh hit the fan early in the season you'd think there is NO LIFE AFTER THE DEMISE IN 2019 OF THE MFC. I'm here to balance things a bit. Let's look at this week's results for a start. Almost all of the games involved what we called once Thrashings. Melbourne was one of the few who weren't demolished. In fact, this team of dastards and underachievers hasn't been thrashed since early in the season, but if you mention this, it's Goody putting his spin on things. That's the bright side. Then there's the Misson Catastrophe, major in the eyes of some posters. A conspiracy theorist might wish to imply Misson was planted by the AFL to totally ROON us. For the record, I don't believe this is or was the case. Most other teams have suffered injurious slings and arrows as well. Only Misson can be blamed for ours, including the lamentable fact of life that after the 2018 season which saw many Demons on their last legs and in need of the the interventions of many surgeons. That was/is obviously Misson's fault as well. Then there's the rabble rousing bleats about the efficacy of the Coach. Well, in my estimation, he's the same coach who got Melbourne within a bee's protruding bit to a final in 2017, to a Prelim in 2018. So it MUST be his fault that in 2019 the wheels fell off. Then there's the new Ceo, Gary Pert. Obviously as much of the blame for all this MUST be to do with him and the Board. A Ceo and the Board are in total charge of operations after all, therefore it must be ALL THEIR FAULT EXCEPT FOR GOODWIN'S FAULT AND MISSON'S FAULT. Then there's the Il Capitano's, both hopeless leaders, let's trade one of them, force the other to retire and let's appoint ....well who we don't know but when we do all will be solved, except for Pert, Misson, the Board, Goodwin and the Umpires, we mustn't forget about them...Oh, I forgot, Misson is gone, gone gone. Oh, and Chaplin, Rooke, Macca and blow me down, Plapp, anyone else we can blame????????
  15. How many more duds and has beens do you want? Clarke, Clarke, Owen, Templeton, the list is endless. WE've got enough crocks on our list already, man.
  16. I love his contributions, often not noticed by the armchair critics on this site. If only he would kick those freakin goals he seems addicted to giving away. Kick the bloody thing, Christian, kick that goal...
  17. The photo of him just after the incident indicates he was in a very bad way.
  18. I'd add Melksham, ANB - he was terrific last year - Hunt - much better this year - and Petty to that list.
  19. Yeah, it's at the bottom of the latrines.
  20. I agree with your sessment. The other factor which has hardly been mentioned is we copped a much tougher draw as a reward for finishing so high last year. Add that to the the amount of players who began the season under-prepared due to injuries and operations, the subsequent injury toll, and most sides would have struggled. Remember too we've not had a 'settled' defence or On Ball combination, let alone our Forwards, all year.
  21. Considering the odds I thought Melbourne stood up. There were few weak links though perhaps Lockhart, Dunkley and Hannan weren't as effective. Had they kicked straight, had Hunt's disposal been more efficient it would have been an easier win. Still, well done.
  22. 6; T. Mac 5: Oliver 4: Fritsch 3: Jones 2:Frost 1: Petracca
  23. I can't see why we're arguing about this. All I've said is it took Moore, Daniher and Hawkins many games to deliver their potential. Moore's speed is irrelevant...
