Bruise free? We were [censored], or skills shucked and we let a free tackles slip but ask Dangerfield if we were bruise free. We went hard and scragged when we didn't have the ball, they just out played us.
-
Surely its for finals qualification.
-
What's his record?
-
2 free options ignored, kicked to a 1 on 3 in the forward line. Sums up that quarter.

Guthrie killing is in space. Menzel killed is in space there...

We are really letting them get outside. We didn't let hawthorn do this, so not sure why is happening now. It may just be that Selwood and Danger have that bust pace/strength to get there.

192?

Won't be surprised if we win. With the bye next round of target finish 5th, smssh north in week 1 then pay more finals than only play 3 games in 5 weeks. Anyway I'm driving down to see Roos last game but an not really looking forward to it. I'm hoping that we'll look back on yesterday and say "that was the last time they did that to us". Being on 2017.

His experience and leadership is very important in the current group. If you have ever seen the players as a group of field you quickly realise the position he holds. As mentioned we don't have much in the way of experience and leadership and if the coaches thought he was valuable enough in that regard to keep around I'd understand. I did find this strange considering i thought he moved to melbourne partly because he didn't want to play ruck : However, he is confident he can play a valuable role as a second or third forward who can swing into the ruck.

Grimes and Trengove future rests with Goodwin
deanox replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think Stuie has it right however if add that if we don't trade in (or we trade out as well) Grimes is the first on the list to be retained if he'd like to stay (and doesn't choose to walk for a 2 year deal as a free agent). No benefit in picks in the 80s or 90s. In any other year both would have played 12 games as some mids would have been injured. -

Make sure you remind him about their last three weeks.

If that is the car the AFLPA should be all over this. Could easily mount a case for him to be best 22 in more weeks than selected.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
deanox replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just to throw around some other possible scenarios, how would people feel about: - Hibberd and Essendons 2016 2nd rounder (19?) - for - Our 2017 first found (12?) - Hibberd and Essendons 2016 2nd rounder (19?) - for - Salem and our 2016 3rd rounder (46?) - Hibberd - for - Grimes/other fringe player plus or 2016 3rd round (46?) -
It is unlikely that two games next week will be determined by scores such as 120 to 119 and 40 to 41, especially when the latter is under a closed roof at Etihad. Our current points for and against are relatively similar to the Roos which means IF we are in front next week, and the match results fall our way it will be an unlucky combination of scoring results and margins for us to lose more percentage than they do. Still possible? Yes of course. Quite possible? Well depends how you define quite but I don't think have two one point games is a high probability. You'd get very very good odds on that if you believe it is quite likely.

Will making the 2016 finals hinder our prep for 2017 season?
deanox replied to Traja Dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think goals experience is better than no finals experience. Motivation breaks even for both options depending on how it is harnessed by the coaches. Pre season is worth codfish but I think the benefit of finals experience for both the players and the cub in general outweighs those additional two weeks. I mean we have had more preseason thine than any other club in the last decade and it hasn't really been of benefit! -
Yeah OK, sorry cannot is the wrong word! But largely if our percentage is in front this week and results fall our way north will need the perfect set of circumstances involving margins and high/low scoring games to lose less percentage than we do and thus keep their spot. I acknowledge it is possible but it is so far fetched it is significantly unlikely! But I'm glad at least a few people here understand enough maths for these discussions!
-
While your second statement regarding our percentage decreasing in the case of a small win is correct, I think it's worth noting that the statement "it is not enough to surpass north tomorrow" is incorrect. IF we have a better percentage than north at the end of this round then we cannot miss the 8 on percentage. Because even if we won by only 1 point and our percentage decreases, North will also have to lose for us to make the 8 and their percentage wil also decrease. It will be nice to take percentage out of it.
-
Honestly if we want to be worthy of finals we need to account for Carlton strongly tomorrow, and that means 30+ points in a comfortable victory. Do that and it's game on for next week.
-
Actually geelong will be playing for top 2 next week. I can't believe how crazy this ladder is. With 1 round to go the top 4 will be equal on points and the next the are equal one game behind. The top 7 can all finish in any position going into the last round (subject to percentage). Then there is daylight. Then an out of form north are place holding 8th position. Does anyone see any of the bottom 10 rising up the ladder next year except for us? St Kilda, Port and Collingwood are the only maybes but I don't think any are on the way up. Who knows with essendon? There is a definite finals spot available for next year even if we don't make it this year.
-
IF we beat Geelong, then GWS are playing for a top 4 spot next week. Unfortunately, Kangas will also be playing for a spot in the finals and Geelong will have been playing for a top 4 spot too. If we beat Carlton tomorrow it promises to be a thrilling round 23.
-
Honestly Jaded I don't think percentage wil come into it. Unless all three remaining relevant games are decided by under ~15 points, all we need is for results to fall our way. And honestly, if we are good enough to beat geelong in geelong we should be good enough to beat Carlton by 25+ points and take percentage out of play.
-
Yeah I hope so. Hopefully the trade goes through smoothly and marginally in our favour as a result. It's sort of amazing because unlike previous years I don't really care; I just want the footy department to get it done and I can't wait for next year!
