  1. OK here it is: and again here: You are claiming that they will still be training so they won't miss anything they would do during pre-season. Your comment above was in a direct reply to my quote: In the Neeld era I think the focus has been on fitness in pre-season training. Remember this FD said we'd need 3 pre sesaons to catch up to other clubs, so if we delay someones preseason start by 4 weeks that's an extra month of fitness they lack. It is pretty clear I was saying that the reason behind going to surgery earlier was because they needed to get back for fitness training. They don't need skills training, they all know how to kick, they need fitness to be able to perform at the top level, to be able to excute the skills under physical pressure and physical and mental stress. You started the sarcastic crap. The playing the man not the ball was started by you and your comments about playing xbox.
  2. If we are seriously looking at him, I hope we are giving him some specific training/coaching for this/next season. Also, I'd love for us to get him on the 'permission to train' list for preseason. He may not do the whole pre-season with us, but it would be a pretty awesome experience for the young kid to get him out here for 2-3 weeks to do some fitness work and skills work with the squad, to give him a taste of where he needs to get to. It may give him that motivation to push himself a little harder next year.
  3. Was dawes involved in the chain further up field? Bring back Mitch Clark and we will have another tall ready on the end of it. Davey is they only player in that chain who wheeled and played on, everyone else ran back quick and looked for the pass. I think Davey wheeled expecting a long option but saw Rodan instead. I'm not sure if he would have been better holding it a second and kicking to the hot spot. Obviously it was a terrible pass, but if we can do that 20 times a game instead of 2, we'll get scoring shots from 15 of them.
  4. Titan, good calls on the vest.
  5. Isn't connoley a life member? If he is, he is going no where guys. And anyone who has the attitude "I won't return while that person is there" can gagf. The club needs unity nit factions and division and anyone who feels like that should do is all a fair and stay as far away from the club as possible. (I don't think junior would have that attitude, for the record)
  6. If you had of read my post you would have seen I said that I could see benefit for both approaches. Your ignorant post suggested that the same training benefits were gained from both preseason training and a finals campaign and made a reference to Xbox. If that is going to be the standard of your argument, rather than engaging in a proper discussion and acknowledging benefits of both sides where it's relevant and explaining your position with evidence, you make yourself look pretty silly and ensure that people will treat you like a simpleton who needs things explained.
  7. Collective bargaining agreement says that players must have a certain number of days off between their last match for the season and the start of preseason training (it's about 4 weeks), so if they keep playing they can't start until later. The rest of the club will be starting pre-season training at the start of October and those sessions will progress in difficulty. If 5 young players miss the start to play finals they will be playing catch up the rest of the season. It is not dissimilar to sending players for season ending surgery with a few steps to go in the AFL season - they could play on but the team won't make finals so it is better they are ready for preseason. As said previously, this doesn't mean I don't think are a major benefits in getting the players to play finals together, I am just explaining the reasons why the decision makes sense.
  8. So maybe you just don't understand football, so I'll explain it.Fitness gains in pre-season training are significantly different than what someone would do at training during a finals campaign. During finals they would likely do lighter sessions so they are fresh for the games, same goes for during regular season. Skill sessions and sufficient running and weights to maintain fitness and strength. Preseason training is full of high intensity sessions, particularly running and sprinting. These sessions are significant longer and at a much higher intensity than during the season. Both running and weights sessions are more frequent because players don't need to recover for the weekend. These sessions are not replicated during the season. The bulk of our hard-core fitness regime was completed pre Christmas this pre-season past, and after Christmas there was a heavier focus on skills and gamelan. Players who are ready to go at the start of October have three months of this intense training, players who don't start until November have only 2 months of this intense training. When they talk about young players needing to have a few possessions completed prior to having developed tanks, endurance and strength, this is what they are referring to. During the season players don't normally pick fitness up, unless they are resuming from a lay off, and they are often rested or eased through sessions because off the demand of the games which means that fitness gains are not made. They can play Xbox every day of the week (and probably do), that has no bearing on their training.
  9. In the Neeld era I think the focus has been on fitness in pre-season training. Remember this FD said we'd need 3 pre sesaons to catch up to other clubs, so if we delay someones preseason start by 4 weeks that's an extra month of fitness they lack. I can see the reasoning, it doesn't mean I think it's the correct decision, and this year we may see a change in tact given this squad has mostly had a couple of preseasons AND we are now seeing that there could be some serious benefit for a group of them to play together. Does anyone have a list of matches played at Casey? Who is on track to qualify for finals, who has played to many AFL games? I'm not even sure of the criteria.
  10. I didn't hear the speech, but if this is what was said and Jack doors not go hard this week, it's likely he never will. I actually thought his physicality last week was acceptable.
  11. I'd play him ahead of Tapscott at the moment, which would release some of the other younger mids to the flanks and wings.
  12. Whoever plays on Cloke must not be isolated. Rivers got killed (last year?) by Cloke but it because the Collingwood players dragged the other MFC backmen away from Cloke/Rivers. With Seller in, we may have been able to match gorilla for gorilla, but with Pederson and Tom Mc as our backmen, we need to make sure someone is able to drop back and support. For me this will be the most important part of the game, to see how our coaching staff reacts to what I expect Collingwood will do again after giving us a pasting with this tactic last time.
  13. I've said a couple of times, in his two games at AFL level he only had 75% time on the ground. This is very low compared to players at other teams. I have no idea why, does he not have the tank or endurance at AFL? Does he not give us spread in attack and defence? But I would bet this figure has something to do with it, whether he got limited game time because of the reason he isn't playing (i.e. limited pace) or if the limited game time is lack of endurance/tank which means other players pick up the slack. Anyone got any thoughts?
  14. Because the club released a statement last year prior to the FA period stating that we would not be matching any offers for Moloney.
  15. Its frustrating that our injury list is three of the first picked players - Mitch, Jack G, Frawley - and 2 of the next group picked Jack Viney and Byrnes. Arguably 4 of our top 6 or 8 players and 5 of our top 12 or 15. It isn't a massive injury list, but for an average team with a poor list, adding three of those back in makes a huge difference when you realise that the guys who wouldn't get games are Pederson, Fitzpatrick and Bail.
  16. Jordie McKenzie, Sam Blease, James Sellar, Dean Kent, Luke Tapscott, Max Gawn, Rohan Bail on the bench, I can't see a spot for Seller, although to be honest I think he would've been a better in the Tom Mc giventhe size of the Collingwood forwards. I agree RE Gawn struggling for a game with Fitzpatrick in. The forward line is interesting, Dawes and Fitzpatrick are genuine talls, and while Howe and Watts are tall, neither play the traditional tall role, the are genuine rangy flankers. If there is intention to play Watts or Howe further down the field (in the mid or defence) there is potentitally a spot for Gawn as second ruck 3rd tall in the forward line, with Fitz and Gawn forward and Dawes playing like he did last week, further up the ground as a leading forward. I think I'd prefer the runners on the bench though. Blease and Kent get their spots on the bench, McKenzie holds his spot as a tagger - with Sylvia back in as an attacking midfielder, McKenzies is easier to carry in the role of a tagger - and its a coin toss between Bail and Tapscott for the last spot. Bail runs harder but has really struggled to hurt the opposition with missed shots on goal. In his defence he seems to be one of the only players generating shots on goal! Tapscott adds toughness but he just hasn't been finding enough of it for me. I've talked myself around, I had Bail missing but now its Tapscott, Gawn and Seller.
  17. You do realise that the players who this applied to went for end of season surgery?
  18. I don't think I explain properly sorry, I meant it is unsustainable, because it isn't a solution that can be 'the solution' ever year, or every second year, for struggling clubs. The PP applied to everyone, it was a standard equalisation measure that was triggered and lots of clubs got. The expanded salary cap will be an MFC only event that no other clubs get, that won't happen again. It won't solve the problem for the dogs in 4 years time when the AFL will have to come up with a new solution. They need an equalisation measure than can be applied as a system to everyone, when they deserve or require it.
  19. I'm not against the idea, but I've a long way to go before I support it. The man knows management, and running a board, and running a football club. Regardless of whether you liked what he did with political power, he knows how to do it. I'm not sure the AFL would be happy. Also, if he isn't a member, he better sign up this week because I'm not sure you can sign up as a member the week before the AGM and jump on a ticket.
  20. threeonesix you're exposing your lack of understanding of football here mate, I suggest you leave it alone... I want to see Blease cement a spot in the team, and I think he is capable of it, and won't be surprised if he does in the second half of this year, but you need to think about the following: When Neeld came to the club, Blease was one of the players in the Morton, Gysberts, camp of not willing to work hard enough, not willing to run hard enough at training. He was terribly unfit, fast but unfit, this is very well documented. Subsequently Blease 'bought in' to requirements of the FD. He started working hard at training. Although he was still behind others in terms of fitness etc, he was given games last year on the back of his committment to training. He played some promising football last year. To claim he is a proven AFL player is misguided at best. I would suggest he has played a handful of games showing real potential and one game where he performed at the accepted standard. He has 24 career games at an average of 12 disposals per game. Over the pre-season he put in at training, and he was given games in rounds 1 and 2. The team got belted both matches, and he collected a total of 15 possessions and 2 tackles in those games and didn't kick a goal. (he had a lot of friends) Subsequently he was dropped. Playing at Casey he has not demonstrated the ability to run both ways (i.e. spread and chase in defence), which is an obvious requirement if the team wants to avoid getting belted every week. He came back in for round 5, and managed another 7 disposals and no tackles. At least you can say his form is consistant. He went back to Casey for the last 3 weeks where he has worked on defensive efforts, in fact last week they were particularly pleased with his defenseive efforts. They were possibly happy enough with his effort that he will get promoted to the 1st's this week. He has all the skills, and the pace to be a successful AFL player, but he needs to show the commitment to being a 2 way player, or he will not have a successful AFL career.
  21. This thrread highlights the problems with the MFC, and how we have run for the past 20 years at least. As soon as the current regime isn't or stops producing results, and the supporter base, explayers and prominent supporters all gs feral publically. We are one club for ***** sake. Don't diss the club in public, work together to solve the issue, we are wanting the same goal.
  22. And maybe they are using their better judgement and keeping him away from the place? Maybe his skills aren't in coaching or administrating and he would add nothing others already aren't adding? He loves the club, I don't doubt it, but if he had any brains he would publicly be rallying the troops, calling supporters to get involved and get to games, and privately discussing with Don McC that feel thinks things need to change, OR using his own networks and contacts to put together an alternative ticket. Public bagging the club doesn't help anyone, is divisional and its probably contributing to three long term harm. Could you imagine a hopeful politician, a member of the liberal party who wants to be preselected to run at the next election, publicly bashing the existing liberal candidate in that seat? It wouldn't happen because it's bad politics and its divisive. All it does is prove he isn't capable off being a board member.
  23. HFF, no one doubts he loves the club, but if he wants to help he needs to pick up the phone and call Neeld or Don and say "guys, I'm here to do whatever you want me to do, how can I help?" And not sitting back saying "these guys are crap, and no one even asks me to help!" At the moment he just comes off as a bit of an idiot, shooting his mouth off and doing damage without understanding what he is doing our saying.
  24. This post is wrong on so many levels it's unbelievable. You want to play a kid every week, who hasn't earned a spot because he sites not do the team things, just so he can get games experience? I think we saw with the last lot ie Morton, that no matter how many games you pay, if you aren't getting them for the right reason you don't improve.
  25. And public comments like this is the reason he should never, ever be elected to the board our be president.
