A new dawn for the Demons - our 2025 squad
I’d be prepared to move on a couple of big names with trade value, in order to replenish our talent stocks. I wouldn’t move on Oliver, however, if Goodwin stays I think it will be out of our hands. Not drafting Darcy Wilson last year, and picking up a low level player in Tholstrup, will prove costly for us. TRADE: Petty (not interested in being out there and is mentally fragile). Sparrow: As we already have too many of similar ilk. He’s a Viney clone. RETIRE: Billings, BBB, Hunter DELIST: Laurie, Spargo, Hore, Tholstrup. Replace the coach has he’s lost the group.

GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Lost to West Coast, smashed by Freo, losing soundly to Collingwoods twos. Fans actually think we are a finals side. Not even close. Finals list, but coach has lost the players. Anyone who knows the game saw it weeks ago. I’d be interested to see what this list could do even this year, with a new coach.

The Age Article: 'Enough is Enough' - Simon Goodwin.
I have no faith the club will move Goodwin on, and I don’t think he’s getting through to the playing group. Whatever the reason, his message seems stale. The club should be looking to replace Goodwin. I can’t see this list getting to a grand final anytime soon.

Ned Moyle
He’s an upgrade on any back up we have. He’d be a good promising ruck for us. Definitely a good acquisition should we land him.

Harrison Petty
Rachele wants to come home. Petty wants to go home. That’s a starting point, as both players have lost trade value this year, and would be worth similar on an open market - an early second rounder. Personally, I’d prefer Rachele is the club. I think Petty mentally fragile like Hogan was. Credit to Jesse, he’s coming good, but it’s been a long road. Body language of Petty is that of a player I wouldn’t even play if I were coach. He looks as though he doesn’t even want to be out there.

Deep Midfield Issues
I don’t think we are lacking depth in our midfield. We have players who could run through there - who we don’t run through there. Rivers looks a likely candidate. McVee could be effective. ANB is a liability as a midfielder. We have too many of a similar type, and no one like Liam Baker - who is great by foot. We have bulls, but no polish. Unfortunately for us, even if they have polish, we have no forwards. Petty is a promising key back, Turner is an experiment gone wrong, who could be a promising key back, BBB is cooked, JVR is a target, and was missed today, but is unproven.

POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Fremantle
Utterly lost. I’d agree with that. I think we are wasting Petraccas career. If Collingwood end up bottom 6, I’d float a trade. Petracca is captain coach material, and he looks fed up playing under Goodwin. We need to bring some youth in. We have Windsor - and should’ve had Wilson - but we need to replenish. Our list is overrated, and our coach is just hopeless tactically.

Deep Midfield Issues
I think a lot of what you said - is making excuses. But Freo did similar a couple years back. We play chaos football, and heavily rely on momentum. Longmuir simply deconstructs that, takes away our strength, and leaves us standing there with our pants down. Which is, our midfield do not defend, we don’t spread, man up, or play zone. The only bloke out there I saw today with half a clue, was Petracca, when he was imploring teammates to press up.

Deep Midfield Issues
The young kid Sampson Ryan from Richmond, he’s a far better pick up. He’s the next Max Gawn. Go get him football department. Can also kick straight. Next best ruck in the game. Petracca definitely has to be a full time mid. Turner and Petty need to play as full time backs. TMAC May as well play forward as we’re waiting on Jefferson and JVR, who aren’t there this year. It’s a gap year for us forward wise, which isn’t great for our list trajectory, but it is what it is. Our window was closing last year, as we had an opportunity to select a couple of extremely classy and quick youthful wingers to help our spread/pace on the outside. Glad we got one in Windsor. But it was a massive error to not pick Darcy Wilson. We also overpaid for McAdam. We didn’t need Billings. I’ll stop there. Could keep going and going.

Deep Midfield Issues
Very bad list management. We got Grundy and give him away for a pie and coke. We already had a slow midfield before he arrived. It’s one paced, doesn’t spread, and doesn’t work defensively. In addition, there is no cohesive strategy. Before this year, we had a bloke running the midfield, who never had any experience coaching it, nor playing it. It’s like having a ruck as your forward coach, and also expecting it to function well.

Best Key Defender in the AFL
Without even knowing I can only assume he’s been AA the past 3 years and will be this year. Best key back since Rance.

CASEY: Rd 06 vs Williamstown
George looks impressive. Sestan just has class, but needs to find more of the ball. Fullerton looks soft. Jefferson playing ok, gets a bad wrap around here, but is developing as expected. Kolt is doing ‘Kolt things’ - just laying a tackle here and there, yet to see how he got drafted. AMW going ok.

Harrison Petty
Massive game by Petty. I’ve always believed he was the most promising young back man in the league, and he probably was. But to start to do it as a forward, then get injured, and come back, and face doubters. It’s refreshing to see a performance like tonight. I still think he’s our future post Steve May. But at the very least, if he keeps this up, and does wish to go back home, Crows will have to cough up a couple 1st rounders, and one will be low.

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
We’ve been blessed to see Clayton Oliver come through as a phenom. But this kid excites me even more. He simply has it all, and I cannot see a weakness in his game.

Improved game from Petty. His execution with passes is letting him down, but he’s making the right decisions, and is marking strongly. Definitely he’s best game this year. Billings is killing us. He’s a coach killer - that’s for sure. Hopefully Hunter gets back soon, he is a far better fit for us.
