GAMEDAY: Rd 03 vs Port Adelaide
We did well to come back. Just need to stick our tackles and apply more pressure within the contest. Port were lucky early. They aren’t much of a side, so we should be able to break them down late. Viney getting frees he deserves, Rivers starting to realize he can take the game on - no one can stop him, and Howes.. just thoroughly impressive. Sky is the limit for Howes

Ditto. Shame he wasn’t coming through our system now. Elite user.

2024: Defensive set up vs offensive balance
I’d play Howes on one wing, Windsor on the other. Instruct our backs to switch play more and utilize the wingers pace and dare. Run our wingers into the ground. Keep our mids fresher and ready.

The Premiership Window Closing?
Had we of cashed Petty in, and gotten rightful value for Grundy, we’d have extended our window. I think we’re still firmly in the window, but I’m more worried about once it passes. How quickly things can fall. I hope we assess at years end, and be more active in acquiring high end talent.

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
Somethings up. He drifted to 8, and looked a logical top 5 selection. Freo supporter, idolized Pav, but seemed happy enough to land anywhere.

Welcome to Demonland Koltyn Tholstrup
Seems a good kid. I like his attitude. These picks 6 and 11 we won’t know for a few years whether we pulled the right reign or not, but sounds like we got two good characters.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I don’t think he’d be disappointed. He strikes me as the type of guy who’d be glad to have a year with Max. He goes to Sydney as the most complete version of himself. No reason he shouldnt feel as though he isnt the best ruck in the land

Farewell Brodie Grundy
You could also argue that a lack of discipline cost us the PF.

James Leake
Not at 6, surely. Maybe at 11

Oliver should’ve won 2 brownlows.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Thoroughly impressive speaker these days Grundy. Very polished with true authenticity. I never used to like hearing him speak but he’s really a breath of fresh air. He knows who he is, and will be a massive asset to Sydney. I hope he goes well.

Taylor does have a good record. Humphrey looks a jet, Butters is a jet, and we traded up for Oliver, who has won 4 B&Fs, and is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The Pick 1 Thread
If it looks like Curtain slides to 6 on draft night, then WC have an offer to consider. Otherwise they back themselves in, and take a Vic kid, who likely comes back in a few years. They cannot afford the wasted development years should he not stay, and they later have to go through the draft again. We are in a great position, as 6, 11 and a 2024 F1 is overs - 9 years out of 10 that’s overs.

Every Club's Trade Period Ranked
I’d give us an A for moving cap space off of the books. BBB and TMac off after this year. We have a war chest next trade period. If Petty don’t work out as a forward, then we have the luxury of paying for one.

The Pick 1 Thread
If Curtin is looking as though he may be available at 6. West Coast should do the deal for 6, 11, and our FF. If they don’t, then just take Curtin ourselves, pick a good slider at 11, and retain our FF.

The Pick 1 Thread
Yeah I think clubs would be cautious doing a FF1 pick with Hawthorn. They are the most well drilled side in the competition. West Coast need picks this draft. 6 and 11 would be ideal for them. But I’m not sure 6, 11, and our FF1 2024 would be enough.

Trade Rumours 2023
We tried to address the forward line issues by drafting JVR, and last year Jefferson. Also retaining Petty could help us up forward. BBB and TMAC will be off the books after this year, so if JVR, Jefferson and Petty don’t work, we can spend up on a forward next trade period. We need to give them a chance this year as it’s what we targeted them for. May is getting older, but we have Turner coming through, and he looks capable. We have nailed some good late picks in previous drafts in River, Bowey, McVee, and now we have pick 6 and 11, which is a good opportunity to replenish our future talent. We are in a good position to contend for a while longer yet.

Tim Lamb on Trade Radio (16/10/23)
Wonder if we are considering packaging 11 up with our 2024 first round pick to improve our draft position further? Geelongs pick would be one to target but they’d probably ask for too much.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 11
I don’t think pick 6 and 11 get pick 1. But trading 11 and a future first for pick 7, then packaging 6 and 7 together. Would get pick 1.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
If we don’t get what we want for Grundy, we can always go back to Grundy and ask him whether he wants to remain at the club as a back up for Max, or perhaps consider other clubs outside of Sydney. Sydney don’t hold all the cards like many believe. Grundy won’t want to stay as a back up.
