  1. Probably have Freo on par with us. But we were no where near the top 3 sides. Even on a dry day Freos game plan made us look below average. These sides are all very well coached. We have the best list in the league. But we’ll need some rejigging of our game plan as this year we were exposed.
  2. Gawn up forward will cost us a lot of goals as he doesn’t understand his own limitations. He is a terrible kick. He shouldn’t ever be up forward. The fact he has been is largely due to the fact we have a terrible forward line, which instead of rectifying it sounds as though we aim to further clog it up with ruck players who don’t belong anywhere near the big sticks. Trading for Grundy is a bigger waste of time, picks and resources as I’ve seen lately from MFC.
  3. That’s why we could acquire Meek in the Jackson deal. To cover Gawn. There may be no good forwards available this year but why hinder us salary wise from trading for good forwards the next 5-6 years. Paying Grundy big money to be a back up just in case Gawn goes down - is bad management. What do we even do with 2 stand alone rucks who can not play forward? Grundy is a terrible kick and Gawn worse. Whoever told Gawn he should attempt as many goals as he does should be sacked on the spot the bloke is a shocking kick. Now we are adding another bad kick in Grundy and paying him as much as we would pay a quality young forward.
  4. Nonsensical trade. We need a quality forward.

I agree. We should acquire Meek in the Jackson deal, and have Meek play VFL and back up for Gawn. Also play Weideman in Jackson’s current role but more as ruck relief for Gawn but gives us that extra forward. Free up the Grundy coin for someone we actually need.
  6. Yep. Disgraceful. I personally don’t believe we had a good year. We ended up second but won many games playing poorly, and nearly dropped games to Essendon, Hawthorn, and North early on in the year. Our finals reflected our year. I don’t believe we had a good year. What to do from here? That’s difficult, because for all the expertise we have in our coaching box, we still bomb it inside 50. Last night was also one of the only times this year I have seen us switch the play. We looked good when doing so. My advice to the board would be to pay the coach out and look at getting someone else in.

Goodwin is a great relationship builder, and that is a vital trait, among many positive traits he does have as a coach. But overall, there are just far better candidates out there. We have a really good list, and we know it’s more than capable, but it’s going to waste IMO.
  8. Missed opportunity IMO.
  9. Just a lesson in football. Brisbane, like Sydney last week, were just far superior to us. Luckily we got a good start but that wasn’t enough. We have the cattle but without good coaching it’s pointless.
  10. We ended up second but didn’t have a great year. Played well below ourselves. Out in straight sets was the form I’d seen all year. What a waste of what I believe is a great list.
  11. We are done. And don’t deserve to win. Feel sorry for our mids.
  12. That is just really bad to give that last goal away.
  13. Their only goal came on the back of a play that should’ve had Viney receive a free on the wing.
  14. We could be twice as fit as last year and wouldn’t matter. Basic execution of skills are vital in this game, but more importantly - execution inside 50. The aim of the game is to hammer those goals through the big sticks. We got a former ruck as our forward coach, and we’re selling our hopes on Gawn and/or Grundy being forwards next year when their previous history says otherwise. I don’t understand why anyone would get on the back of Griffith. We’re being outplayed due to a rigid game plan. If we are made look like witches hats in the last quarter it’s because opposing teams take risks and play with flair, and last year that wasn’t the case. Teams have worked us out. I think Griffith is doing a tremendous job. On the injury front we’ve once again been blessed. A result largely attributed to Griffith. Fantastic effort.
  15. We have a ruckman as a forward coach, we have a forward pocket as a midfield coach, and we are splurging 700k on a back up ruck. That’s what I call wasting a window.
  16. Grundy to MFC just defies logic. We already have an established ruck. Best in the league. Gawn isn’t a good forward and neither is Grundy. Both are just sole rucks. Why we would pay top dollar for an excess big man that we don’t need, whilst desperately needing to recruit a key forward - it’s beyond me. It’s actually just stupid. Reminds me of the Lakers recruiting Westbrook. Just a bad fit that would never work, and now they are stuck with a fat contract they cannot move. If rumored numbers are correct we’ll be paying 700k for a second ruck. Just plain bad list management.
  17. The way we’ve gone this year I’d be more surprised if we weren’t chasing Grundy.
  18. That was last year, which has zero relevance right now. Teams are making us look very basic in 2022. Our game plan has been dismantled, taken apart, and exploited.
  19. Basic under 11 game plan. No dare. Too predictable.
  20. Second best midfielder I have seen. Ablett jr the best. Should’ve won 5 brownlows
  21. Pointless season really. We are the only team capable of beating Geelong but we are too basic. We will have to endure similar learnings to what Geelong has. We were fortunate to have a purple patch last year. Liken it that purple patch to Tom Boyd’s final series of 2016. Bullies were satisfied, their window is done now and them finished. We will follow a similar trend unless acknowledge our purple patch of 2021 was just a fluke. It’s all it was.
  22. Has done a tremendous job. I didn’t know what to expect but has filled the roll well.
  23. Waste of a potential dynasty
