Watching Port play tonight really reminds me how far we have to go as a team. The attack they put on the ball was ferocious. Every single player on that field threw themselves at every contest and every ball. Nobody jogged around waiting for the ball to come to them; everyone in that team works their ass off to make a contest to their teammates advantage. We will never get anywhere with passengers like Watts jogging around aimlessly.

This. How miserable it must be for the players not getting picked to watch this idiot jog around the MCG without a care in the world. Hardly going to inspire a culture letting him keep playing, Roosy. I'd take Nicho over Watts, and I've been saying that for a few weeks now. He runs hard, fastest in the team. This is what we totally lack at the moment. Would take 5 Nicho's over 5 Watts', his silky skills are useless if he isn't going hard at the ball.

Can we please get Jack the hell off the Demonland banner and replaced with Dawes or Crossy or Dunn or Pederson or JKH or anyone in the team who actually plays like an AFL footballer?

I love, love, LOVE that Crossy is now in the leadership group. He will relish the opportunity and keep his teammates honest. With the elevation it gives him even more authority on the field to rightfully call out players who aren't putting in. Very glad it was Watts on the other end of the spray.

Pretty sure Roos said a few weeks ago he doesn't care if you were pick 1 or pick 60, if you don't put in the effort you're out of the team. Seems like the seeds of discontent with Watts have been there for a few weeks, and the rocket shoved up his ass after last week's match clearly made no difference.

For anyone at the game, was Cross giving a spray to Watts in the first quarter for not running defensively hard enough? It cost us a goal from memory. Seven's brilliant coverage showed Cross giving the spray but never showed who to.

I thought Jetta was doing really well tonight. Looked settled, made some tackles, gave some great runs (something Watts could learn from) at the ball. Had a horribly unfair free made against him and got injured, hence his sub. But overall, I'd take him in the side over Watts. For me: Out: Watts, Howe, Byrnes In: Garland, Kent, Riley (depending on tomorrow's match). Riley deserves a chance to stick it up Adelaide's wazoo after delisting him for being injured.

Loved seeing him shepherding another player and bumping a Swan out of the way on the wing, right when he first went on. Looks the goods.

N Jones has the B&F wrapped up for the third year running, but Cross is probably right on his heels.

Terlich gets a game because Roos' mantra is effort > skills. Jack has the latter, but none of the former. He will be dropped.

Watts out and Salem in, straight swap. Give him a few more full games then send him back to the VFL if necessary (ala Michie), but see if he has what it takes. If we get Riley in next week too, will be a very hard fought match indeed.
