  1. The AFL surely can't watch the state of these games and not realise how desperately 4 or 5 teams in this competition are in desperate need of draft concessions to get them off the bottom of the ladder. GWS/GCS have been disastrous and soaked up all the talent.
  2. Can SOMEONE in this team please stand up and show some goddamn leadership? It's just a rudderless ship out there. You don't win games by forcing endless stoppages and taking the ball over the line. They're just marching into games with the mindset of "how do we cover up this machete wound with bandaids?"
  3. Think they've earned the right given the pasting they're giving us, yet again, today.
  4. And how brilliant he did it with the entire Geelong coaching and playing group watching on, considering how "interested" in him they are! Might take $100k off the contract.
  5. How many goalless first quarters have we had this year? I'm guessing at least 6.
  6. No, it was Lachlan Murdoch, who pulled Ten out of the rights to increase Foxtel's exclusivity of the game and push more people towards pay TV subscriptions. And they film in HD because the agreement with Foxtel and the AFL means all games must be produced in HD as part of their broadcast deal.
  7. Serving up absolute rubbish again. Going to go do something productive with my weekend.
  8. Have we scored the first goal in any match all year? Apart from v St Kilda?
  9. They actually film every AFL match in full native HD but only broadcast in SD. They're absolutely hopeless. Ten set the benchmark of how to do free-to-air AFL coverage but the idiot running that company decided not to pursue the last rights deal.
  10. Oh Bail. Please. Please develop into something better.
  11. Liking the effort but all the handballs in the congested 50 aren't going to get us anywhere. Need to clear it to a spare man or a contest and get a shot on goal!
  12. Sigh. It's going to be a long afternoon with umpires this awful already gifting Geelong a goal in the first two minutes.
  13. If he can run the game out and get half a dozen good, hard tackles, he'll keep his spot in the team methinks. He's got a physical presence, Roos will be wanting him to leave the opposition with some bruises Sunday morning.
  14. Did JKH run over Roosy's dog? Starting to think we won't see him again this year.
  15. Does this mean TMac ends up in the free agency window? Or will be still be too young? Obviously dependant on whether the minimum years change occurs. Bloody players association.
  16. Interesting interview with Roos about this year's draft. Says there's no real "standouts" that he's seen so far, rather an even spread of genuine quality players across the board. http://m.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-07-10/northern-state-clubs-building-edge-roos Got zero doubt now this is the same situation as last year in Roos' mind. He'll trade both early picks (3 and 4ish) for a player and a lower pick, just like the Salem/Tyson deal. Only difference this year is we'll be doing it twice, for our normal pick and the Frawley compo. I assume he'll then on trade one of the lower first round picks (15ish?) for another established player, sending us to the draft with only one first round pick, probably around 10ish. Thus with our picks 3&4ish, we'll end up with three high quality established players, and one new draftee to develop next year, ala Salem. Right now isn't the time for this club to be recruiting multiple first round draftees, we desperately need established players for an instant injection of leadership, skill, experience and class. Roos is only here for two more draft periods and he'll be turning over our list as fast as he can.
  17. He's got another year on his contract.
  18. People aren't entitled to change their opinion? I've watched 4 or 5 of his matches over the last few months, and every single one (including just this past weekend) he's made multiple brain dead kicks, or missed easy set shot goals that could've won matches, etc. He may be coming off a lot of injuries but I'm yet to see his potential as a #1 draft pick.
  19. Good luck to them. Patton is a brute but a dumb, dumb footballer.
  20. Entirely true, but don't undervalue how depressing it would be to move to the worst half of another city and play every week with nobody watching on that gives a rats. They might as well have stayed at state level, the crowds are bigger.
  21. Had to laugh at the "we will address this" comment. How many times have we screamed at matches this year watching players hold up the ball, chip it around the forward line, then kick it to a contest and turn it over? The best teams move the ball fast, precise, and get goals with great ease. Our players are being taught to hold up the ball and wait for the flood of both teams, then kick to a contest where nobody has a chance to mark it cleanly. And they wonder why we aren't scoring any goals!?
  22. Just imagine if you took all the talent from GWS and divided it amongst the heavily struggling bottom 8 teams. The entire make up of the league would be miles better for it, with less blow outs, more even teams, a chance for any team to make finals in any given year. But no, let's keep pushing ahead with a doomed Western Sydney experiment.
