  1. There's two sides to every coin. I can sympathies with Frawley but his demeanor and body language has been appalling all year, and he should put his money where his mouth is. He is a leader at the MFC and needs to drive standards. Instead, he seems content to let everyone else do the hard work and, failing that, he wants to blame them when the team doesn't win. If he has no intention of staying, man up and say so, instead of taking the match payments and contributing nothing on field.
  2. I wish someone had asked about Roosy's thoughts on Petracca at the Pie Night. Either way, would trade for an established midfielder in a heartbeat. These kids take 3 or 4 years to build a tank for Roosy's exhausting gameplan.
  3. 1m a year for Sloane? Dunno about that. We could probably throw around 3x 800k contracts though and see who's interested. We have the cap space. Do we really want to spend 10mill on this current batch?
  4. If losing one defender, who played forward most of the year, means we can beef up our midfield I'm good with that. We played great defensive footy for at least ten rounds without Frawley there.
  5. Not when it dilutes our compensation for Frawley. Pick 3 vs pick ~60.
  6. In fairness the guy is being double tagged, had an interrupted preseason dogged with injuries, and is basically a one man forward line. But he can't overhead mark to save himself.
  7. I'm staggered he wasn't dropped this week. Either Roos is a horrible judge of character, or they know dropping him would end whatever slither of a chance they have of holding on to him. Would rather pick 3.
  8. Good old country boy, that Chip. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
  9. Roosy needs to ingrain the disrespect we're being shown into the players. And they need to react accordingly.
  10. Oh interesting. The way it was reported on Sky News he was retiring and would have a lap of honor at this week's match. Gotta love quality Australian journalism.
  11. Well, forget about that pick up. Just saw a bite from the presser. He looks absolutely shattered. Maybe he tested the waters elsewhere and got no interest?
  12. Just because they're signed doesn't mean they'll be best 22. Anyone not resigned at this point is going to be replaced by better players.
  13. Interesting if true. Wonder if that's related to the performance we put up?
  14. Exactly. Bit hard for Misson to develop guys on a 3 year plan when 15 of them are thrown in the bin once a year. This year will be no different. I look forward to the year where we have 3 or 4 list changes, and players are banging down the door to join us.
  15. I think it's a fair compromise. Frawley is only worth an end of first round compo pick in my opinion, but the AFL will ensure it's pick 3. Would everyone prefer picks 2, 19 (Frawley) and 20 (Priority Pick)? I'd take picks 2 & 3 (Frawley and PP rolled together) any day. Arguably Roos can turn pick 3 into two top 10 picks if he's clever. Yeah, in a perfect world the AFL would follow its own stupid rules and give us both, but we all know that won't happen. We all know by now the priorities of the AFL are elsewhere, for a certain four teams a little north of Victoria. Indeed, how abhorrent of us to ask for a priority pick, yet totally fine that in any given year the Swans have exclusive access to some of the best players in the country regardless of where they finish on the ladder? This year they'll nab a player with pick 18 who would otherwise go in the top 5.
  16. We're going to be injury ravaged round one next year, as noted above I think this preseason is going to sort the men from the boys. I wouldn't be planning any boozy holidays if I were in the team.
  17. Looks huge already. Some good signs for the future of our youth, especially if we take Petracca this year. Will the Saints take him before us though? I'm assuming we'll be trying to scope out their draft intentions before giving up picks 2 & 3.
  18. I'd love to know whether Roosy's ultra defensive comments about any Watts criticism is just for show, or what he genuinely feels. Guess we'll find out in a few weeks...
  19. I think this mentality that high draft picks should just waltz into the side from their first match and have a huge impact is the exact reason this club is in the toilet. This idea that draftees should pop into the team and be the solution to our woes is the antithesis of what Roos is trying to implement. Development and education of all our players needs to be priority one, regardless of where they were taken in the draft. Some pick it up faster than others depending on the needs and complexity of the game plan. Roos' game plan requires incredible fitness and not only does this kid not have a preseason under his belt, he hasn't even had a chance to build his tank. Yet despite that, he still shows fantastic skills and vision, albeit without the fitness to garner large possession counts. Salem will turn out just fine.
  20. Anything interesting in the presser this week?
  21. Kelly was pick 2 and he had a zero possession game earlier in the season.
  22. Luck of the draw unfortunately. Plenty of kids who impacted straight away for our club are sitting on the junk pile right now. It means nothing in the longterm if you have an outstanding first year.
  23. He didn't just miss basically the whole pre-season, but he's coming off a fairly debilitating illness over the summer. He'll be fine, he just needs time to develop. Don't forget this kid was probably the only one on our list with the composure to kick the final goal and win us the game against the Bombers. Unfortunately at the MFC, we can't let our kids develop for 3 years in the seconds before debut. Ideally we'd be doing that with Salem and JKH, but our list is a shambles.
  24. Pretty sure he means 'tried to look interested'.
