  1. Would be interesting to know what happened last year; there were so many conflicting rumours about who we were after, it's hard to know what was true and what was rubbish. I'll take Roos at face value and assume that the club was equally as happy to give up 2 or 3 for established mids as they were to get Brayshaw/Petracca/McCartin in the draft. That's the kind of draft that sets up a club for 10 years. The problem is, no other clubs or players were prepared to take the bait after our pathetic end to the season (justifiably so). Not sure if it was GNF that said it, but the reports at the time indicated Petracca/Brayshaw/Cockatoo/Lever were our preferred targets but there were question marks on the latter two due to injury/not enough playing time. Considering Lever went at 14, the attempted trade for Trengove (pick 12) would indicate we had our hearts set on Lever.
  2. Howe & second rounder to Gold Coast, Dixon to Port, Harlett to us. That's a huge win for all teams I reckon.
  3. I'm pretty certain we were after Lever with the pick for Trenners. Roos has known him and the Lever family since he was a baby.
  4. We were right into Lynch too. Doesn't always work out.
  5. We would've beaten Sydney tonight. They were that shizen.
  6. Where are the howls of criticism for garbage football like this in finals? Or is that just reserved for teams like us?
  7. IMHO you don't trade pick 24 for a depth player. Michie and Riley were good examples of depth players we picked up for loose change. Ergo, the club wouldn't see Melksham as a depth player (certainly not with the reported contract offer).
  8. How I wish the shark had won.
  9. On exposed form, Bernie Vince had shown far more when we took him than Melksham ever has, including winning Adelaide's B&F. He also wasn't facing the possibility of two year bans from WADA.
  10. Not happy with that deal at all. Pick 23 got us Frost, O-Mac and ANB last year and this year we want to settle for [censored] Melksham? A kid who may be ineligible to play for two years?? Abhorrent list management if true considering the huge risk he brings. Don't forget that players like Nat Fyfe have been taken in the 20's.
  11. He's fantastic at pressure acts and his run and carry is sorely missing from our team when he doesn't play.
  12. Geez we missed this kid so, so much. His, Salem's and Vandenberg's injuries cost us at least a few games I reckon.
  13. Although Beveridge takes all the credit publicly, in footy circles I'm certain McCartney's influence in laying the foundations for their success is well respected.
  14. Having worked in the industry before, I wouldn't put it past a coaching member to say that in public. Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time. Most would, rightly, assume it's unlikely anyone in the vicinity would know or care what they're talking about.
  15. I like that he replies but sheesh, he must be wishing he had a pseudonym account right now. Something like [email protected] would do the trick.
  16. It's only 20 seconds, but I love the video of him in the gym on the website. Brutal tackle right at the end on that tackle bag!
  17. I'm guessing we're just trying to improve our depth players, but it's one hell of a depth player contract. He's an improvement on the players we delisted today, that I'm certain of.
  18. I think everyone was mortified when that contract was announced. Simply baffling. Is it another 2 years or just 1? Or was it Matt Jones who got the 3 years?
  19. Dangerfield to Geelong is signed, sealed and delivered. Was told after tonight's match by a fairly senior figure from the Cats. Immediately wanted to punch him; equalisation my ass. The moment the top teams drop out of the 8 for so much as a single season, they'll just pull in the best players for zilch. Get used to Hawthorn at the top because as soon as Hodge, Mitchell and Lewis retire, there'll be 3 superstar free agents to fill the gaps (and a huge salary hole that'll allow it).
  20. When we can get him via the PSD, why would we offer more than a third rounder? That's still a decent pick at about 42. Pick 24 is far, far too high for Melksham. In other news, our counter-offer to their trade request should be Howe for Melksham and THEIR first rounder.
  21. Have you watched the Footy Show in the last few years? Nobody with integrity is involved in that [censored] excuse for "entertainment." This is why Lyon puts up with a [censored] like Barrett. And because $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  22. The fact that Goodwin personally requested getting him in to help him throughout the Roos handover indicates McCartney sees us a long-term arrangement. I hope.
  23. They've kept Butcher??
