  1. To me Gawn and King (and only because he is so young and not fully grown) are the only two on that list look encouraging... Jamar is planning for life after footy and collecting as many pay cheques as he can. Spencer I just don't see stepping up any further, I think what we have seen is as bout as good as he will get. Fitzpatrick is probably lucky to have survived the delisting's, a couple of goals in the last games may have been his saving grace. Pedo is an ok back up but his value is around the ground not in the centre circle. I know Roos wants midfielders but I really think we need to find a genuine ruckman sooner rather then later. We have a lot of tall players but that doesn't really mean we have any depth in that department.
  2. From my understanding of the type of injury it can be like when you break the scaphoid bone in your wrist. There is such little blood flow to the bone that it takes a really long time to heal. Also like the scaphoid injury it doesn't tend to show up on traditional scans and x-rays until the bone begins to calcify and by then it has been damaged for a while. I was talking a mate of a mate as well who had a similar injury to Trenners that pain isn't always a side effect of the injury but loss of power in the leg can be a sign which would definitely explain a lot in Trenners case.
  3. That there is a lesson on how to jump off and on the bandwagon. Almost as good as a tigers supporter
  4. I've always liked the idea of a compulsory development year. Can still draft at 18 but not availible for AFL selection until their second year. I don't think raising the draft age is the answer and I don't know how it would be implemented unless you pretty much had no draft for a year. Otherwise you only have the guys who didn't get picked in the previous draft to select from.
  5. I'd take $55 grand a year to play footy any day. Footballers have no idea just how easy they have it. Anyone who says other wise should try get on the end of a wheelbarrow full of concrete or work on as a labourer on a building site 8 hours a day 6 days a week and then tell me footballers have it tough.
  6. I think Nev might need to sustain his improvement for another year or two before we start using him as the model for other players to aspire to. One season does not make a career.
  7. If he could be half as good a player as the old man then worth a look. Roos has been such a force as a coach it easy to forget just how good a player he was.
  8. Yeah even the 3.20 games are a stretch. By the time game finishes around 6ish and the next Vline train isn't til 7-7.30 then 2 hours or so on the train and another 30minute drive, your not getting home til after 10 on a Sunday. V line never put on footy specials for a Melbourne game unless Essendon, Collingwood or Richmond are playing but that rarely our home game except for queens birthday. Id love it if we got some more Saturday games or earlier on Sundays. Not a lot of point renewing the membership next year unless I can actually get to and from some more games. our fixture this year was so bad that we only had 2 games on free to air after the mid season bye so I had to rely on Demonland to know what was going on in games and even then all I got was everyone saying drop Jack Watts.
  9. The fixture was the was the main reason I pretty much wasted my membership this year. I think I made it to one home game and four away, which sucks when you have a country membership for 5 home games. Our game times just do not work with regional train times, it makes it way to hard to get home. Yet my essendon mother in law could get to and from pretty much any game because they always play at the good time slots. It must kill the dees financially. Can only hope for a fair deal this year
  10. They gonna start playing on Sunday and Monday nights now? I hope Chanel 7 don't get their hands on the fixturing again...
  11. Any one think we could have a commitment from Dangerfield for free agency next year along the same lines of how Buddy committed to the Swans 12months out?
  12. Based on the thread/comments from GNF about how close we were to securing Dangerfield in a trade, could we have a Buddy Franklin to Sydney style commitment from Danger to come to us as a free agent next year?
  13. Thanks GNF. Watching everyone try to solve the riddles was one of the more entertaining things I've seen on DL. Great insight to what happens at the club behind closed doors, I love it. Gonna be a big year of Dangerfield free agency rumours...
  14. Might wanna just check which Frost brother we got....
  15. 13th 83.9% and just for kicks 6 wins and a draw
  16. Looks the goods. Solid, aggressive and got a bit of speed about him. Can't wait to see him in action. Hopefully we can offer a better number then #48 for him should be plenty to pick from this year
  17. Please don't close until Grand New Flag has answered those damn riddles!
  18. Dean Cox was a rookie draftee. Imagine what we would have paid for him if we could have got him in his 3rd year.
  19. Who knows, this kid could become an absolute star and then looking back 23 could look like a bargain. Good luck to him and welcome to the Dees. We might have just wasted it on another kid yet to play a game who turns out no good if we took it to the draft. The size of Frost with a few years under his belt in the system and a full preseason is still worth more then an 18 year old draftee.
  20. I know... it was this thing called a joke, you might have heard of them. A republican up in arms about loosing a game on queens birthday... do I need to continue? Because I'm really bored right now and got a lot of time my hands today.
  21. What bloody difference does it make what the coaches wear? Is it really going to affect the outcome of the game? How the hell did thread make it two pages? Why the hell am I even commenting on it?????? trade week is taking its toll.
  22. Couldn't even get that right, scorps finished next to last as well
  23. The real uphill battle is top quality players don't want to come to Melbourne. Apart from money why would they? There are 8 other Melbourne based clubs in better positions then us. We won't be a premiership contender for years. Why would a Dangerfield or Kennedy want to come to a club that struggles to even be competitive for any sustained period of time. I don't know why any Melbourne supporter genuinely thought we were chance at Dangerfield.
