  1. But didnt you want to bat him at six? Batting him at six only deprives someone else of the opportunity to be eased in. And No 6 is a great spot to bring in a green batsman. So why would you leave Ponting at six to block that spot. makes no sense when you really think about it. So there was no Plan B. Thanks for the confirmation. Thats the challenge for Australia if they dismantle a Plan A that includes Mitchell Johnson. Johnson was picked ahead of Hastings because he has proven but inconsistent ability to run through batting line ups. He didn't fire like a number of players in the Aust team.
  2. Why does he bat six? You dont need to repeat the statement just provide a plausible reason why you would do the move. Ponting will be gone well before Christmas. It would be disasterous for Ponting did hit another century...perish the thought. So what was plan B??
  3. Why is it an option that he either retire or bat six? If that's the option then he should be retired. I dont think that the intent of the ACB yet. I dont think there is a better and ready no 3 atm. This could change over the coming six months. BTW, his innings was top shelf on a reasonable ordinary wicket. If he plays then he should be No 3....unless there is a better option. If Ponting is not captain, I think Clarke will be captain for Bangladesh. White has blown a big opportunity from the start of 2011. The following players from the ODI will pensioned off progressively...Ponting, M Hussey and Lee. Tait and Krejza should be sent back to Shield level. White has been in poor form but should not be overlooked because he is proven ODI player and a matchwinner. We need to get a battery of fast bowlers and a spinner in place for next summer. Good chance for potentials to put their hand up.
  4. You have written a player off and havent seen him play before. You were rightly challenged about it and were not attacked.
  5. ????? I dont think would necessarily be the case at all. If he does do that then Col would be absolutely outstanding and MFC would be given a boost to playing in September. FWIW, I dont Sylvia will win. It is indeed Col's break out year and supporters are expecting him to take the next step. They will be lighting torches if he doesn't
  6. Football has been a platform and financial arm for Fev's excess. The big joke is that now he hasnt and doesnt go to training. Fev's choice He already has a couple of hobbies which he is right into atm. B)
  7. Agree it doesn't and you are deluded B) . No one is personally attacking Fev. FFS, the only person doing that is Fev himself. Fev has had every opportunity to relax post rehab but has chosen (himself) to appear on TV, undertake contract negotiations without integrity, disappear on overseas jaunts, ignored his advisers advice, skipped training and appear more than once at gambling venues.. Fevola is responsible for Fevola and is to blame for the circus that is Fevola. While on his coal cart downward Fev has not worked it out. There has been no protection of Nixon at all. Both Fev and Nixon are sad cases. One is on a self destruct path while the other has to deal with the fallout. Both have careers that are shot and they are in disgrace for it. I would want neither having any involvement with MFC. And posters are allowed to pass judgement on how they view the influence of Fev on MFC players
  8. Dont tell me he is now in charge of memberships!!!!
  9. Do you think they are all injured? You seem to be able to work things out without any facts. Pringles email might give you some better perspective.
  10. THanks Pringle. While I share Redleg's frustration at the injury lists, we do have alot of resident bush medicos on this site who would do well to consider your note.
  11. Sorry buddy. Did you read the title of the thread?
  12. Exactly. PJ cant ruck, cant mark but has very good rover skills...We dont need that. Campbell is a rookie. PJ was on the main list and his spot as Nasher said was taken by another player. In other words you dont have any actual information to support your chest beating on this.
  13. Exactly. I was thinking more of a gun to our heads.
  14. Geez, fair dinkum you would think if you were going to cite a newspaper article you would at least read it and reflect what it says. B)
  15. Premiership teams usually have a fantastic run with no injuries eg Sydney c2005
  16. Jones wont win you many clearances and his disposal does not hurt the opposition enough. I doubt whether he is no 5 in importance. MFC must develop better midfield options than Jones if it wants to be successful.
  17. Given past years, our injury list coming into the season is not too bad. Although I hate to have anyone injured at any time.
  18. Perceptive comment Old. Its a young list at MFC and we just cant "play the kids" en masse.
  19. Fluffy article which does not say much more than Buckley being in contention. Pies have a load of injuries to a number of players that would be preferred to Buckley. Player with good pace, but poor decision making and could not hit a jam tin by foot. MFC still have a few of those. Buckley was surplus
  20. We are a younger list this year and with that will come good performances and bad performances. There is potential for the odd blowout if the younger players get steam rolled in the midfield. While the season starts proper this week and practice match form is practice, there are some warning bells.
  21. Roebuck referred to Ponting having to give Krejza remedial bowling coaching on the field. On the brigher note go Tassie Tigers for the Sheffield Shield.
  22. Scully Frawley Watts Trengove Sylvia Jurrah Grimes Davey Jamar Garland
  23. Agree. Add Tim Watrson and Terry Wallace to that list. Great players...ordinary coaches. Essendon can get all the coaches they like. They dont have the cattle on the field. They are in a for a huge shock this year.
  24. People who dont realise that this is another development year where we could be looking at another 11th to 13th finish are going to have their dreams rudely shattered. And Schwab and co will have a metric for measuring Bailey on more than win/loss. But people will gravitate to what their capable of. Hard learning season coming up. Make no mistake about it.
