  1. Good work dandeeman. Hard to disagree with any of your assessments.
  2. Good points. Stynes has openly endeavoured to make the club more inclusive, which hasn't always appeared to be the case with previous regimes. But whether it was this, or having supporters who understood the dire nature of our situation, the facts are that the current administration got extremely lucky. I don't think that Cameron Schwab should be gloating about doing the right thing, and holding out for what he believed our sponorship was worth. If not for De La Rue and Mamonitis, we would rightfully be questioning the competency of the current administration, as Hazy does.
  3. Excuse my ignorance, but what is a "lought town"? And is it pronounced "lort" as in bought? B)
  4. Maybe Cameron Schwab's a chip of the old block. Or the late Billy Snedden has had a profound influence on the club. Well done to those involved.
  5. Anthony Ingerson was the same. Low ball drop, looked awkward, but was effective.
  6. Brilliant Chelly!!! The company saw a synergy with us finishing on the bottom.
  7. You sound like Basil from Fawlty Towers. Whenever a customer had a grievance about service, Basil would turn it around to make the customer feel like it was their fault. If you can accept mediocrity, fine. But don't expect others to do the same.
  8. When it comes to back injuries, "missing the first month of footy", is probably the best case scenario or a guesstimate. Andrew Bogut was suffering back soreness early in the season, and was considered a day by day proposition of returning. When he did return after a few weeks out, he played a few games and then missed the rest of the season. Call me a skeptic, but I'm worried about Grimes playing senior football before mid-year.
  9. I thought that Grimes missed a fair chunk of his last season in the TAC Cup, which wasn't back related.
  10. You read my mind. I made the change as soon as I read that Grimes was injured.
  11. I'm probably showing my age, but I've only heard of Tony Hawk because he was on the Simpsons. Skateboarding is obviously popular with kids, but unless Tony Hawk starts skateboarding with a Melbourne beanie, I don't think that it'll generate massive exposure for the club. I think we're talking about different demographics. Someone like Chad Reid, who also makes a fortune, would also have limited benefit for the club.
  12. For mine, Miller is ineffectual when he leads up from CHF because he's too slow in moving the ball on.
  13. RudeBoy, Does Liam expect to play for Casey in round 1? As an aside, did you get your username from the film that features The Clash?
  14. I think you're pretty close to the mark HBK, but I've got my doubts about Wona playing round 1 after doing a hammy. I think that Petterd will replace him from your selected side. As for match-ups, I think that Bartram and Garland will take Thomas and Campbell, leaving Warnock and Frawley to take their talls. This will leave Rivers as a floater. McDonald to take Harvey. Structurely, I'd rather see Miller and Green playing deep in the forward line, with Sylvia and Bate as the lead up forwards from CHF.
  15. No facts as usual Rhino, just stupid use of emoticons. So Bailey wasn't part of the administration last season when Meesen was acquired? And you know for a fact that he had no input in the decision?
  16. The premise behind hoopla's post was the paucity of our ruck situation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the CURRENT team recruit Meesen and sign him to a 3 year deal? We wouldn't be debating this topic if Meesen was a half decent ruckman. But true to form Rhino, you always blame the predecessors.
  17. Garbage. In 2006, McLean, McDonald, Moloney, and Jones were all capable of getting the ball to front running mids like Johnstone, Yze and Bruce. Our game plan's changed, and it doesn't allow this option.
  18. Great reports WJ and IWS. In regards to our absence of forward targets, part of the problem lies with the fact that none of ours mids push forward of the ball when we gain possession in the backline or midfield. Players with big engines, like Bruce and Morton, should be given free rein to push forward and give us more forward options. Currently, our forwards are generally outnumbered by 2, hence the opposition are able to rebound with ease.
  19. Well said Demon Head. It's premature to be either celebrating or sticking the knives in.
  20. It's not about cutting him slack. His crime was not a sackable offence, and if he plays good football this season, I'm sure your support will resume. If he doesn't play well this year, his position on the list will be questioned, as should be the case with most of our players.
  21. The decision to elevate Spencer says more about Meesen's capabilities than Jamar or Spencer.
  22. And what are you basing that on? Martyn came to prominence by getting something like 8 or 9 bog's in just as many games as a ruckman in the ammos under 19s. For mine, he has more attributes to be a ruckman than Meesen, so why not give him a chance.
  23. By the time it gets onto the Melbourne website, Jamar will be fit to resume. I'll take Deegirls info ahead of the MFC website anytime.
