  1. He probably didn't get hassled by a nuff nuff Essendon supporter at the pub, asking him where he will be playing next year. B)
  2. So either Addam doesn't know Peter Szental and made it all up, or Peter Szental made it all up and was just trying to impress Addam. Hmmm, both scenarios seem highly unlikely if you ask me. If someone is prepared to name a source who's in a position of know, I tend to believe them.
  3. At least it has factual basis, unlike Nudge's work of fiction.
  4. What, make up trade scenarios and pretend that you have inside information? I think that Nudge showed that he's just a very naughty boy when he tried to call Arem an imbosile (sic).
  5. Thanks Addam, at least you've got the balls to reveal your source. What's interesting is that we're targeting so many players, yet I thought that the plan was to acquire draft picks. Personally, I like this approach.
  6. This was posted on Big Footy, so treat it with a grain of salt, but it's been suggested that Paul Wheatley was traded to the Swans for a 2nd round pick. Deal has been done in principle, but both clubs are waiting to attempt to upgrade the pick if possible through the O'Keefe deal.
  7. With their forward set-up, why would the Hawks want O'Keefe? They've already stated that experienced key defenders are what they're looking at.
  8. But isn't that an indictment on our club? Not only can't we attract players to the club, we can't keep our own. That's why it's an off-field PR nightmare. How do we attract sponsors or kids to support us when things like this happen?
  9. True. Played his heart out for the club this year. I fully undertood trading Woewodin and Johnstone when we did, but where we are as a club at the moment, off-field moreso than on-field, losing Green for anything less than a 1st round pick, will be PR disaster for the club.
  10. Geelong played with one average tall forward (Mooney) all year. It just goes to show what quality mids can do.
  11. You'll find that all player contracts expire on the 31st October, which is the date when the official club lists need to be finalised. Players that are delisted then have the opportunity to nominate for the draft. Yze and White have been told that their contracts won't be renewed but haven't been officially delisted by the club. Melbourne still have the right to trade them if they desire.
  12. Give me $10 grand on Bob. I'll PM you my bank account details ,and I expect the money in there by Tuesday at the latest. If not, I'll recommend that you're barred from Demonland.
  13. In 1998, we beat the eventual premier by 9 goals in a final at the G, and you reckon we weren't good enough.
  14. It didn't take Garry Lyon 3-4 years to make an impact at AFL level, so how the hell can you say that Watts will be a better player than Lyon? BTW, we had serious chances of winning the flag in 1990, 1994 and 1998.
  15. Given his injury history, which clubs would be attracted by him? As for trades, if we could swing a deal with the Hawks that involved Rivers and Thorp, I'd go for it.
  16. You can demonstrate character, attitude and maturity within your football environment without being a model citizen away from football, eg; Cousins, Kerr, Franklin, Carey, Ablett, the list is endless. And as per usual you mispresented what I wrote. I was comparing players of great talent, so why you and Fork brought up duds is beyond me.
  17. Morton will never be a Hird-like key forward. In Hird's 1st season of AFL he took something like 15 marks during a game against us, and that was when marks actually meant something. Hird was a fantastic contested mark. Morton could play a Hird-like midfield role, and push forward at times.
  18. So where have I said that Nathan Carroll will win us a premiership? I've never rated him as a footballer. Hodge, Lewis, Franklin, just to name a few, are ratbags off the field, and they take that bit of mongrel on the field. Clarkson doesn't seem to give a sh#t if his players get reported. If you get excited by Bailey's rhetoric, good for you!!!!!!!!!!
  19. FFS, we'll end up with a player more likely to win the Nobel Peace Prize than the NAB Rising Star. The reason for Judd not wanting to go to Hawthorn was because of their players' tarnished off-field reputation. Hawthorn's full of ratbags, but I'm sure their supporters couldn't care less. Nice guys come last. I don't want great people or role models, I want players with mongrel who'll do everything within their powers to win, excluding taking drugs of course.

    Jack Watts!!!!

Just remember how excited people were getting with John Meesen's time trialling ability. TBH, the draft camp results don't interest me one iota.
  21. Well said Maurie. If 25-30% of a list is made up of players in their 1st or 2nd year of football and earning $60k-$120k pa, it's only logical that a player in his 6th or 7th season would be on around $250k. And those who suggested that we pay him out, haven't read the article properly. If we do, his termination payment will be included in 2008 salary cap, which we will exceed. Now this is incomprehensible given that we made a play for Chris Judd. How the hell were we going to fit him into our salary cap? I was a big fan of Craig Cameron as a recruitment manager, but as a list manager, he left alot to be desired.
  22. Hannabal, the Hawks were able to obtain picks in the top 26 by trading youngish key position players, (Hay, Thompson, Rawlings, Croad, McFarlane), and we know that clubs will offer a decent pick for a kpp with potential. But it did leave them bereft of kpp's, with Jacobs playing full back and Williams playing full forward. Was it luck or good management that Croad got homesick at Freo, and Richmond and the Bulldogs passed on Franklin? As for our bartering position, if clubs are loathe to trade away their early draft picks, would you be happy to trade for players, in order to immediately address our needs? Personally, one of the mistakes we've made in the past is copying another team's model, both with player personnel and game plan. We tried to emulate the Bombers 2000 side by drafting midfielders with fat arses, and then we tried to emulate the Eagles run and carry game plan. We have always been reactive. Let's be proactive, and devise our own strategy for success.
  23. Can't you read. Here's a quote of what I said in the link you provided: "Whilst I agree that Garland's performances this year have been mediocre, he like many others are not playing on instinct, but seem to have too many thoughts going through their head. It worries me when after a game, players come out and say that we didn't follow the coach's instructions. It suggests that the "team rules" are too complex. If Garland was allowed to play instinctively in his rightful position up forward, I think he has got a future at AFL level." I was one of the very few who thought he had a future at AFL level, and still believe that he could be a very good key forward. I liked what I saw of him when playing for Sandy last year.
  24. Oh, how the wheel has turned! Garland has gone from the most maligned player on this forum after playing 4 games, to the best thing since Robbie was a boy. Just goes to show that most on here know jackshit about talent identification.
