  1. on FB - We wish to apologise for the training time error yesterday (Monday 9 March.) The Club was eager to create a Public Holiday training session for our members and supporters to enjoy. Communication staff believed training was to commence at 12noon as per the time listed in the Club’s training calendar. Staff however overlooked the fact that the start time in the training calendar allowed for an hour of pre-training preparation. This was an error on our behalf and we unreservedly apologise for that and for the inconvenience caused to those who arrived at the advertised time. A football staff member noticed the promoted time at approximately 10am and notified communication staff that the players would not actually hit the track until at least 1pm. At this time, social media communication channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) were updated to reflect the actual start time were updated. In addition, Club staff contacted the Demon Army, who planned to attend in large numbers, to advise them of the change. Today, Club staff will seek to contact all those who contacted the Club about the communication error, especially those with kids, to provide you with another opportunity to engage with the club. We would like to reinforce how sorry the Club is to have put our members and supporters out. If you have further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us either via direct message, or by emailing [email protected]. Thank you.
  2. everyone should boycott family day and roll up at 11am and force our way through the gates!! yeaaaahhhhhh!
  3. If people in those roles are demanding double time on a public holiday reach out for volunteers to man the tents. There are enough people willing to work for the club as volunteers. Shouldn't be relied on, but if that is the case it's pretty sad.
  4. The other smart desision was for the MFC to close The Demon Shop and not bother having a membership tent nor a merchandise tent. I wrote a post on another thread re the intra club where I had walked past The Filths intra club and observed merch, membership and entertainment booths at their training . We arnt doing it right. It's amateur stuff and I am guessing those in the roles arnt qualified enough.
  5. I don't expect us to wear the red in any game this year. Seems like its just money maker. If you can't wear it against one of the darkest team in the comp you got no chance.
  6. I still would have kept the red V on the jumper and simply added the MFC monogram. I cannot fathom why were didnt wear the red jumper vs freo? Anyone else? They are all dark purple. No clash
  7. In fairness, Sorrento is about an 1 hour 20 minutes these days. Maybe he is getting away, coming back for training then go back down. The freeway exit is right by AAMI Park. When I heard him say it, I did think it was odd though
  8. What injury is Jack Watts suffering from at the moment? I just saw him in Church Street, Brighton and overheard him telling a shopkeeper (friend obviously) that he was heading down to Sorrento until Tuesday. I thought we had an open training session at Gosch's on Monday?
  9. ëYeah A bit of an oversight. He was good. He presents tirelessly all game. His best piece of play for me was when he crashed the pack and Kent roved it for a goal. Hogan was better when he pushed up to CHF as he got more clean ball. What I like is the passion he plays with. He gets angry when he doesn't take grab or misses a shot. He is determined. He will be a player. Anyone like Derrrrrrmot who expected he would come in rd 1 and kick ten was being unrealistic. He hasn't played footy in more than a year. He will hit his straps and when he does he will be hard to beat. When the supply to the forward line improves so will his score sheet
  10. After my 2nd quarter wrist slashing episode I settled down, like the team did, and liked a lot more of what I saw in the second half. Vandenberg is gonna be a certain starter I reckon, tough, big, clean and can hit a target. Newton was good also prior to that head knock. Frost is the WOW of the night for me, a 6 foot 5 robot that has serious burners, how is his speed? Loved it. Lumumba gives us heaps. Compose, good user hits passes and thinks his way through a situation. Grimes is close to finished for me. Will play at Casey a lot this year IMO. Horrible user. Matt Jones has NFI. His ball use is always bad, that push in the back free he gave away was so so dumb! JKH on today's form is a long way off. I don't think anything he did was effective. He offers no tackling pressure inside fifty, constantly throws an arm out. Gawn needs to learn his limitations. If you can't kick generally, don't try a cute short pass or know when it doesn't work once don't try it again derrrr. Overall, like the attack, liked the attack. We have some size about us and some options. Shame we didnt convert those last quarter goals as we probably outplayed freo. That 2nd quarter was as bad as any last year. We gotta stop the lapses
  11. Max Gawn...will he ever learn that he can't kick ffs. So many blokes that fail the basics. Yeah yeah it's preseason but it sets the tone. It's the same old [censored]. Nothing to excite you at all. Better turn it around in the 2nd half
  12. Nothing has changed at all. So many dud kicks, dropped marks and lack of forward presence. I hate how this team continues to embarrass
  13. You are right CB, not sure how that looks anything like the Saints jumper. It is very Carlton'esue, or a bit Fitzroy even, either way its a massive improvment on the Swans jumper we have had for the last few years
  14. I almost guarantee we will not wear that red jumper at all this year as the AFL and the Networks deem red to be dark, which is the greatest load of [censored] of all time.
  15. This is another one of those off-season topics that may have been touched upon before, but seriously what is with the colour red the club is using on its website and why do we seem to be stuck between two shades of it? Yes, I realise this will be a non issue among many here, but I find it odd that our jumper colour (2015) does not match the logo and the shade used on Promotional Material. Demonland is much the same, you only need to look to the banner on the site to see that while our jumper appears to be the traditional RED the logo and pro forma all appear to be a deeper shade akin to purple. The MFC website is much the same. The team colours are red and blue, not purple and blue. This a yet another hangover from the Schwabb era, when he tried to 'deepen' the red on the jumper without any success, as modern fabrics mad it look purple. I am still at a loss to explain why the club's website still appears to be using the purpl-ish red and Demonland for that matter? Is it just me? or does it bother other posters too?
  16. Oh ffs, non issue as far as I am concerned. Yeah he is stupid blah blah, it's not a misbehaviour that occurred while at our club, for god sake don't suspend him from games as that is detrimental to the team and fans.
  17. Not sure they made anymore of an event of it than we did bing. Just the fact that their setup all all in the one spot right on the edge of the CBD . Would love for us to have the same sorta setup. Thursday night. After work. Few beers. Footy. Go home. Ideal. As opposed to drive to Casey 45 minutes and enjoy no atmosphere Anyway, back to the game, haven't heard Viv Michie mentioned did he play?
  18. Just walked past AAMI park and saw all the lights on next door, got closer only to realise the Filth were playing an intra club at Olympic park under lights. Bout 5k people around the ground. Merchandise stands, membership booths. Where are we, playing at 3pm out at bum [censored] nowhere. Geez I hope Jackson makes good on his promise to engage the demon heartland again. I was wearing my dees training top too as I was on a run, copped the usual snickers.
  19. you realise one of those big advertising billboards in a prime locations is about a million per annum?
  20. there you go http://www.realcommercial.com.au/property-retail-vic-melbourne-501224695 $66,000 prime retail in Collins street, what you dont understand is that its not the actual merchandise sales you pay for, its the advertising. Its being to have a signage etc. To be seen. I can tell you that Rip Curl used to have a shop on Chapel Street that continually made huge losses, but they kept it as it was an advertisement. Thats what some dont understand.
  21. Yeah i read it. I dont like the whole fire works idea but I do think gathering your supporters in the one area and getting a united cheer squad at the 'Barrackers End' as well as draping banners from the stand is pretty cool. I would like us to have some visual presence at our home ground. I know the G isn't like any Premier League ground where we can colour the seats red and blue, so improvising like that isnt a bad idea. I know Stynes and Schwabb got some signs erected on the northern stand that say 'Never Say Die Demons' and some other such stuff. Hardly notice them though as they are on the Northern side and the TV cameras shoot from the same side. No offence to anyone here that may be a part of the MFC cheer-squad, but i reckon we have one of the worst cheer squads in the AFL. Run by a bunch of nasty older woman who are typical footy nuffies. I had the displeasure of meeting them all two seasons ago when I tried to sit behind the goals, one nasty cow asks "are you a member, I quickly produced my MFC members card to which she replied "that's not a Cheer Squad membership!" ..i realize that it must have been an extreme inconvenience to her to have me occupy 1 of the vacant 40 odd seats in their area and try to give voice to their cause so I quickly left. No wonder we are such a disjointed supporter group. What ever happened to Angelo, the mohawk bloke who ran the 'Red Seat cheer squad' and the bloke who used to wear the Ricky Jackson #45 hoodie? That group seems to have disappeared. I am not calling for radical change here, I am just looking at improving on what we have at our disposal. Forget fire works, dancers, singers, just look at the basics like getting MFC + MCC mermbers sitting together again, establishing an after match function room at the MCG where fans can gather and players come. That improves my match day experience more than singing and fire works.
  22. http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-premiership/collingwood-afl-pies-to-revamp-mcg-home-games-to-enhance-experience/story-e6frf3e3-1227224716605 Thoughts?
  23. Right, so after the initialn anger at hearing this, let's turn our attention to something else, who can we elevate from the Rookie list to replace him this year?
