What Joe Gutnick did to/for the club depends on who you talk to really.

Meh. Tigers by 101.

FMD that doesn't make her brave. This isn't Balibo. She's the Chief Football Writer, any juicy goss will go straight to her. Titan Uranus was absolutely correct when he noted that this article in particular is a regurgitation of what was already known, with a dash of Schwab vitriol. If you're looking to reward her for the scoop on Schwab's abysmal tenure, I'm afraid she was beaten to the punch by Freo fans, who said the same thing in 2008. And if you think the Schwab/Wilson thing isn't personal, here's Wilson gloating over him in 2010: http://newsstore.fairfax.com.au/apps/viewDocument.ac?page=1&sy=nstore&docID=SAG100808SF4797EM3QT The last sentence in particular shows how far Wilson has swung.

Neeld Post Match - Platitudes and other nonsense talk
Geddy Lee replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
As I was saying yesterday, a team with: Bail Nicholson McKenzie Byrnes Kent* Spencer Evans in and around the midfield is not going to win games of AFL football. Kent I'm judging extremely harshly, but IDGAF right at the minute. Seriously the worst MFC team ever put on the park in the modern age. -
Do you THINK Neeld will get the axe this week?
Geddy Lee replied to Curry & Beer's topic in Melbourne Demons
We could/should/might fire Neeld but the real culprits are the CEO (now gone) and the Board and their incredible knack for dumb decisions. - The appointment of Neeld - The treatment of employees (e.g. Flack) - The treatment of senior players (Junior under Bailey; Rivers/Moloney under Neeld) - Pompous logo/blazers - Youth policy incorrectly implemented (2008-12) replaced by bandaid policy (2012-) Pederson, Gillies, Byrnes etc - Appointment of captains and leadership fiasco in early 2012 - Sponsorship (EnergyWatch) and treatment of sponsors (Hankook) It's nigh on impossible to defend the Board and their management of this organisation. -

Warriors all square with Spurs 1-1. Should be 2-0 up. Could Golden State reach the conference final?

Called it on Page 3.

If we fired Neeld next week, what then?

I thought our defense through the midfield was better, but still not acceptable. As the game went on Carlton were able to easily kick the ball out and transition forward through the 'fat' side. However there were good examples of MFC stopping their flow in its tracks. Apart from Garland and Frawls our defenders were hopelessly outclassed and Waite less us off the hook (although we weren't exactly accurate ourselves). The game could have been much different if Jones' kick had gone through for a goal, reducing the lead to 17 points (IIRC). Our clearance work was good. People who rubbish Dunn can get rooted, I'd take him in the team any day over guys like Blease/Bail/McKenzie who are 'cameo' midfielders and contribute to our woeful statistic discrepancies. Of all our midfielders on our entire list, I can only remember Jones ever getting thirty touches. How scary is that. Actually looking forward to next week now. Very tiny steps forward. Remedial football, go Dees.

Perfect opportunity to put him into cotton wool, along with Grimes, and give the acting captaincy to Jones who actually deserves it, the bald tatted guy who can actually impact a game and inspire his troops.
-
Byrnes was barely sighted. Clearly WOG.
-
I'm not expecting much from this match, but to see Spencil and Gawny absolutely dominate their positions would be a small endearing win.
-
I am sorry he is injured; I'm happy for someone else to get a go in his spot however. Wherever that is. I wonder if another coach at any other club could rescue his career.
-
Nathan Jones and I have a lot in common. We both suffer the terrible fate of having to watch MFC players that aren't Nathan Jones play football every week.

Mark Thompson has gone to the Cuddles Connolly school of vanishing from media. He probably needs a cuddle at the moment too. I believe that Hird and the board will be jettisoned. Several players will be banned for 6-24 months. After that, what happens to the EFC? Their membership might stay constant but ASADA and AD will hamstring them for years. Shame that the players have had their health and careers put at risk by snake oil salesmen and abhorrently inept governance however if 'sport scientists' lose their new-age lustre and control over developing young men then some good may come of this. Sadly the AFL was so worried about dope and E that they were completely and utterly blindsided for many years by a number of clubs on a colossal scale.

Injecting young men weekly with substances that have not been independently analysed. Absolutely disgusting. Poor players.

Time to go . . . James Hird. It's going to be Essendon for a while folks.

Injury List - Round 6 (Mitch Clark 6-8 weeks)
Geddy Lee replied to Bergly Sanders's topic in Melbourne Demons
Whenever I'm feeling down, I watch this ridiculous actor doing ridiculous things. Tonight is one of those nights. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP1-oquwoL8 -
Love this. It's not that we shirk contests. It's just that we don't get to them.

An idea so crazy it might work - Tebow time
Geddy Lee replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
This might be my favourite thread in D'land history. It's completely, admirably, alluringly insane. -
22 points in 6 minutes. Steph is a freak.

How crap are we that we're arguing about letting Moloney go. With him we might have finished as high as 14th this year. Splitting shitty hairs.

Grimes is and always has been susceptible to brain fades. Would you want to see your captain having brain fades? I know I wouldn't. It's not Grimes' fault (or Trenners for that matter) that they were selected captain by the MFC. It was one of the dumbest decisions in modern footy, and is not likely to bear fruit. They can't change the culture by being out of their depth. We had a record of brilliant leaders up until our dark days: Lyon, Viney, Neitz, McDonald. This time round we selected leaders on the basis of idealism not output and this needs to be put right. Chris Newman is an example of a player having the captaincy taken off him and still contributing. It's not the end of the world. It's not like the MFC can embarrass itself any more.

McKenzie was on Zorko and followed him down to the forward line in the 3rd quarter which shat me no end.
