Boy is the #1 pick overrated. Luke Hodge, Nick Riewoldt and a bunch of B graders and 'potential stars'. I am indifferent to Jack's selection in the side. I think he could be as good as Cameron Bruce. A good solid AFL player. Might even kick 8 goals one day against a rabble. I hope Viney and Hogan are game changers, because then we'd have a grand total of 3 (with Mitch Clark).

Much praise has been given to Fitzpatrick for learning general coordination. I don't have a great deal of faith in such a project player. May be our LRT but don't see him setting the world on fire any time soon. Sheahan was a fantastic junior and will bolster our excellent backline. I'm a big fan and hopefully he makes his debut next year.

Bruce was getting paid massive overs for hospital handballs in his last couple of years. He wasn't happy with his offer and we weren't thrilled with his output so I think it was the best result he left. Fiasco? No. Junior was unfortunate yes, but Richmond still win the trophy for disrespectful exits at the B&F a few years back.

^^ OT: One thing that surprised me about last round was that Will Minson had a tap to advantage percentage of 36% whereas average is around 20%. And they still lost by 12 goals!

If we draft any players on big bucks they better have an obvious position and be dominant at that position. Guys without obvious positions tend to contribute less: Bennell, Dunn, Davey, Martin, Morton, Watts (I still have hope for Watts though), Sylvia. Same reason that the highly rated Josh Toy is being off-loaded. I don't want the MFC to spend a fortune on a player to test him somewhere. BG is the highest paid utility in the comp. Boak, Caddy and Cloke make sense. Goddard makes zero.

Don't think too hard about it.. Brendan Goddard: Will cost $700+k a year, peaked in 2010, is a backman/floating utility. So-so tackler and questionable temperament. Have a read of the Saints message boards to decipher what he's worth these days. Here's a hint: it's not more than Mitch Clark (650/year).

Pathetic post. The backline is the only good thing about our footy team. You don't think Rivers has helped the consistently good development of our defenders? He's been terrific this year, and many other years before this one.

I think he's one of our best tacklers and is much more useful to the side than Gys, a la McKenzie.
