I think the year has been a success... 10 wins for the first time in a decade. Won 3 on the trot, beat the Hawks, won in SA, won in Darwin. The losses to Essendon, Carlton & twice to St.Kilda were the low points. Having said that we are in a much better position than those 3 sides moving forward so in the long run they don't phase me too much, over the next season or 2 those losses will correct themselves, albeit with the inevitable upset here or there. We will put a gap between ourselves, Richmond, Collingwood, Gold Coast & Carlton next year & WILL go past North & should leap frog Port & St.Kilda The huge improvement from Gawn has been enormous. Games and quality performances in Petracca, Hunt, O. Mcdonald, Oliver, Harmes, Stretch. Tyson & Viney taken another step. Kent had a good uninterrupted season. Watts emerged as a key forward. Frost has settled into defence. There are a lot of positives to come from the season. Bring on 2017, after 10 years will finally be talked about in people top 8 predictions!!

Gees his had an injury riddled couple of years... Dak Prescott has looked good in the pre season whether he can take that into the regular season or not...

Give the Sydney thing a rest... Why are you continually comparing us to Sydney? They are premiership favorites and ladder leader's. Maybe in 2-3 years time we will get a consistent week in week out performance from Melbourne but at the moment we are young & I don't care what any of you people want to believe, it is an excuse... Wait until Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw, Tyson are our Kennedy, Parker, Jack & Hannebery. If we don't get effort & consistent from them week in week out then, then complain.... You don't just become a top 4 side overnight

No I do but thought for arguments sake a 90 game player equates to a Tom Mcdonald so left him out... Probably add Nick Smith to the list though.. Just strengthens my point. Thanks.

You've all lost the plot.... People saying we haven't improved in 3 years. Pfffft. Get a grip!! Yeah we got flogged, yes we didn't give Roosy one last hurrah. We were playing against an experienced side on there home deck which apart from last year is a hell hole for us & not to mention their fine tuning for an assault on a premiership & playing for a top 2 finish. Yeah the effort & endeavor wasn't there but once again look at the age of the 22 today, as bad as it sounds they would have had one eye on the end of the year, it's only natural. How far we've come in Roos tenure & in the last 12 months holds us in good stead for next year. Today's result wasn't the make or break of 3 years of hard work... Thank god for some of you the seasons over, you need the break more than the players. See you in trade week.

People sooking up about how today is meaningless... So what when we went into the Hawthorn game you didn't give a [censored] cos 99% of people didn't think finals was a chance then... Our young group has a chance to knock off a top 4 side again to finish the year and put an ! on this season... I feel sorry for those who can't enjoy today for what it is

Woke up this morning thinking what a ripper day for footy, even better if you were playing for a spot in the finals... Truth is IF we win today it will be on the back of the disappointment of last week, doubt we would have won 5 in a row. Anyway.... Today the emotion of Roosys last game today could go one of two ways, the boys could go out there and play out of their skins and get the win for him or they go out there and try too hard & it all falls apart. Nonetheless I'm sure there all aware of the significant of a good peformance today, Roosy has done a lot for this football club & he along with others have bought the club from the brink of extinction to become a club on the verge of finals & long period of success... Lets hope the boys play like they appreciate what his done.

Just look at the players Geelong had in their 2002 VFL Premiership side... Seemed to work well for them. Ablett, Bartel, Hunt, Mackie, Johnson, Kelly.. just to name a few

Fair call... I think Pedersen will be kept on a one year deal for back up, given Weideman will have another developing year. I think Matt Jones at least provides outside run & carry, I was never a fan but he improved over last preseason & was doing ok until injured in round 4 & wasnt sighted until late in the year. Although with Hibberd & Melksham coming in to play those half back/wing roles could be trouble for Jones.

He will be kept on the list before Trengove. Edit: So will Pedersen.

Both are gone IMO. If anything Grimes has more to offer at AFL level than Trengove & that's saying something seeing Grimes papers have been stamped for 2 years... Unfortunately the game has passed Trengove by and pace was never an assest for him & in those injured 2 years he got slower & the game got twice as fast. I wouldn't be against putting him on the rookie list to make sure under another pre season he can't get back somewhere to his best.

Yeah 100% Melbourne been alive late in the season has taken my attention away from the NFL. I enjoy the tipping so if you can find the time again Macca I'm in for sure... I like the 3 road winner system we've got going!! On the preseason, I tried to watch the Falcons/Browns game last friday but I just couldn't get into it, with no real meaning it's quiet boring. I think with so many random players who aren't even going to make the 53 man roster it's hard to even watch for young players & see how they go. I'll have a quick look at the highlights but there pointless from a spectacle really. Anyone else getting gamepass this year? I ended up forking out the $260!

Just realised I've left the defending champs out of the playoffs... I'll stick with it, don't think Sanchez will be all that great at QB, having said that Peyton wasn't all that good last year & Denvers defense won them the SB, not sure they can do it again this year. I'm bullish on the Raiders chances in that division, really like them on both sides of the ball & I'm a fan of Carr, hope they make the playoffs...

Yeah cos having umpirers who umpire together makes us so much more americanised.... For one it would actually improve the umpires consistency, two it would not change your life one iota or how you watch a game other than the umpires been more consistent. Yeah I might up my life & move to america because I want AFL umpirers to umpire all season together & have better understanding of each other... Good one.

Anyone else been frustrated by Bernies 2nd half of the season ? Once upon a time when ever he had the ball I wasn't squirming in my seat, knew he'd make the right decision & execute it... Now I can't bear to watch him take the kick ins. So many uncharacteristic mistakes his made week in week out the last couple of months.. Don't know if his relaxed a bit since signing his new deal or his just getting old or hopefully just a form slump
