  1. You do realise the video was posted on the 1st, not today, right?
  2. Wait a second... you've just pasted Harley's head onto Gaff's body!
  3. There was an article on the Melbourne website only a week or so ago, that said Smith was building up his running slowly. Given the difficulties he's had this year, if be surprised if he wasn't in the rehab group
  4. He looks in ripping nick
  5. I'm not sure picking 1 18 year old over another is the 1.5%, but each to their own. Pert was reportedly far too involved in the Collingwood FD during his tenure there. I'd be loathe to see him doing the same here.
  6. No he shouldn't. He's the CEO, not the list manager or talent scout. If, as a CEO or footy manager, you don't trust the judgement of your recruiting manager, then they should be your recruiting manager.
  7. Not sure if this has been posted yet. We've confirmed out interest.
  8. The article does note we are looking to employ 3 part time data assistants (or technicians. Can't quite remember). Seems like they are really beefing this part of the footy ops up
  9. I know he said they wanted to put some size on him but damn. He's looking huge
  10. The Hun are reporting we've poached a data analyst from Port. "The Demons have poached Robert Younger after a two-year stint at the Power to bolster the club’s statistical analysis arm. In the role, Younger, who created the website ‘Figuring Footy’, will try and keep the Demons at the forefront of the AFL’s latest game trends." https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/melbourne/melbourne-poach-data-analyst-from-port-adelaide-for-season-2020/news-story/b6c391422e17bccee46ff2d6caac5801
  11. Created new thread
  12. Chook has been taking the [censored] all off season. Some of the posts are hilarious, but close enough to others to seem legit.
  13. There's talk of freo picking Jackson with 7 to get him ahead of Carlton at 9
  14. Some talk Carlton want a small forward as well, seeing as they missed Papley. Are also apparently in the frame for Jackson (ruck) and Kemp, as are we
  15. My thinking for bidding on him with 3, rather then 8, is that Freo may decide they don't want to match. I think they definitely match at 8. It only works if a) we really, really want him and b) Freo (Bell) decide to take a stand and don't pick him.
  16. Is he good enough to bid on at pick 3? If Freo don't match we get the draft best small forward, if they do then we take who we want at 4 and continue as per before but with Freo's pick 7 eaten up.
  17. This would be the best outcome. But given what Mahoney has said about drafting a small forward and Taylor's reported love of Weightman, I wouldn't be surprised if we picked him and let Kemp slide. I'd be [censored], though.
  18. Have you heard anything, m'lord, or is it just opinion (as stated)?
  19. JKH and Billy Stretch delisted
  20. If GWS get a pick before having to match Green, wouldn't be surprised to see them grab Jackson. I know clubs don't generally draft rucks early but they need a good one coming through and he's been likened to Grundy. If Serong slips that far, I'd grab him as our small forward at 8. Still think Taylor will pick Weightman at 8, and hopefully one of Young/Stephens/Kemp at 3/6.
  21. Didn't have the tank to play too many games last year, but showed a bit when he got a go. Knows where the goals are, is tough and puts pressure on. Another preseason and hopefully he plays 15+ games for 20+ goals.
  22. Mickey replied to ding's topic in Melbourne Demons
I get that point of view, but until clubs start picking players in the PSD against their wishes they might as well be. My one concern would be new draftees leaving for nothing after two years. Increase draftee contracts to 4 years. Clubs will trade players one year early like they do with FAs now, and anyone in contract will still require a trade. Clubs will trade to get another year out of a guy.

This seems half arsed to me. When you are out of contract, either because your club doesn't offer you one or you choose not to sign, you will be delisted at some stage. IMO, they should just become DFAs. They get where they want to go anyway, generally, by putting a price on their head or warning other clubs that they won't play there. Clubs rarely take the gamble of picking someone who doesn't want to play for them. The AFL should just do away with the PSD, and you pick blokes in the national or in the rookie. If they are delisted, either through being let go or because they are out of contract, they become DFAs.
