WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
I'm not sure we can trust the Ellis comparison. Ellis's compo was just short of a 1st rounder according to the AFL. But I'd be amazed if it didn't hit that and the AFL were reacting to the media noise about the reigning Premier getting a first rounder for a player they haven't fought to keep.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ED LANGDON
The only way it gets done for next year's 2nd round is if Freo have a few academy players next year they need points for. Cal Twomey has said next year's draft is weak, but stacked with academy and F/S picks (apparently 17 of the 22 U/17 futures players are already tied to clubs).

Farewell Sam Frost
No-one would know where to lead. Frosty doesn't know where he's going most of the time.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Jenkins or Casboult? Please no

Ben King
Won the GF sprint, just edging Frosty.

Farewell Sam Frost
Peter Ryan mentioned on Twitter he thought Frosty was unlikely to re-sign

They weren't supposed to win last night either. Once you're there, anything can happen

The Kalani White Thread
Pretty sure neither trumps. They can choose. Is obviously a mad Dees fan but may like living in GC too much

Jamie Elliott
Would still have a delayed pre-season due to playing in a prelim. Thought he played very well, especially early.
-
Jamie Elliott
If our offer is 2 years like the pies, doubt he'd move unless the coin is significantly more. If we are offering 4 years compared to two, he might budge. Still think he'll stay a pie

Todd Viney Leaving Confirmed
Fair enough. I agree with you the others have the feel of a clean out; Todd's departure just feels like a 'right time' thing
-
Todd Viney Leaving Confirmed
While you might be right, surely Todd didn't decide to buy a farm and start milking cows simply because he was tapped on the shoulder? Not exactly an overnight decision

Farewell Sam Frost
This from the Hun SAM FROST Melbourne has seriously lowballed the out-of-contract key defender, who looks certain to reject that contract offer and join a third AFL club. It emerged last night that North Melbourne — following Scott Thompson’s retirement — could overtake Hawthorn as a suitor with both clubs targeting key defenders https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/more-news/trades-unplugged-essendons-joe-daniher-has-a-big-decision-to-make/news-story/75bad70b29a03c07f1cf009fce309c6a

Basil--Jamie Oliver--Jamie Elliot?

GWS Surplus
Pretty sure GWS live traded up last year to get Caldwell. They won't let him go. Daniels would be great, but not sure what his contract situation is.

Jones Re-Signs for 2020
Jones with a full pre-season under his belt having trained in a new role (hopefully HFF) will still play enough games to get to 300. But if we have any better luck injury wise, I'd be surprised if he doesn't play a game or two at Casey

Brayshaw a Better Player After 2019
I agree with all of this. Worth having a read of the article; the reason Gus was singled out is because the whole thing is about him spending the year working on his defensive side, how this doesn't show up in stats but he was happy with his efforts and so are his teammates. I hope Burgess is able to make some big in roads this pre-season, but the boys have got to want it too. I suppose we'll see if they do.
-
Brayshaw a Better Player After 2019
I agree, but it seems he doesn't see it that way. Likely just a puff piece to fill space in the off-season, but they are way off the mark if this is how they saw his year. His defensive efforts were far from the highlight of his year.
-
Brayshaw a Better Player After 2019
Not one to normally get too negative. But if Brayshaw and the coaches are happy with his defensive efforts this year they are kidding themselves. One of our worst two way runners who just gives up the chase far too easily. Would be astounded if that's the "team first" attitude his fellow players want.

Angus Brayshaw to Fremantle Rumours
https://m.melbournefc.com.au/news/2019-09-03/brayshaw-a-better-player-after-2019 Brayshaw says he was working on becoming a more rounded player, working on team defence, etc... This coming from (still) one of our worst two way runners at the club.

What should our midfield set-up be next season?
In addition to a new, lean, mean Trac, I'm hoping Burgess works on Clarry's power. They guy is a bull, and if he didn't look to give the hands all the time could very easily become a powerful, break free of stoppages and kick long mid ala Danger and Martin.

Dan Butler
Interesting people are calling for us to recruit Bolton. All of my Tiger mates can't stand him; wasnt sure what they were on about ubtil i watched him closely for a couple of games. Tries to do the mercurial but just butchers the ball, and burns teammates constantly

Lachie Whitfield
Trading a year before FA also lessens the number of suitors, who might not be able to pay what you might pay, pick wise. If we wait until FA then the likes of Hawthorn or Collingwood can jump over them only having to make cap room.
-
The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
I remember him being the only Adelaide player that played well.
-
Lachie Whitfield
Would be the dream result but is just that, a dream. Would cost the earth for picks and salary; he's an absolute freak who GWS would not be happy to lose, regardless of any upcoming free agency.
