  1. I've heard elsewhere from a half decent sauce that one of the reasons Tom isn't signing is because he had the sh!ts about how much we are alleged to have offered Hurley, who incidentally is supposed to be good mates with J Watts. Take it or leave it, but I saw a comment earlier so thought I'd post it.
  2. If Hogan doesn't get up I love the idea of Spencer, I hadn't even considered it until I saw it mentioned here. We will need Watts around the forward 50 if we're to kick a winning score while not attracting two defenders every time. I love Harmes, but Salem has to replace him or if he's not there yet then Michie. Think Wagner needs to come out as well, Bugg probably for him. And I'd consider Kennedy again to buzz around the feet of Gawn/Spencer when they're forward, but unsure who to take out. Garlett maybe, but you just never know if he'll turn it on. Out: Hogan, Harmes, Wagner, ? (maybe Garlett) In: Spencer, Salem/Michie, Bugg, Kennedy
  3. There's so much I like about Harmes. I love his attitude, his courage, his work rate, his tackling, he finds the ball but gee whiz... some of those disposals were horrific. It doesn't matter how good he is at all those other attributes, if he keeps those up he just can't be in the team. I kept thinking about how it should've been Salem in his position yesterday and how much of a difference he would've made.
  4. They can be a free agent of sorts, but that doesn't mean the opposite of the trade doesn't have to give anything up. He is the cornerstone of our future success. Who is Freo's? Neale or Fyfe? Neither is a key forward who are rare as hens teeth so you could argue a straight swap for either is still unders for Jesse (though I personally think Fyfe will come back from his leg still a gun). One of those two as a bare minimum as far as I'm concerned. Having said that, I still think we will sign Jesse for 4 years and he will depart thereafter.
  5. So we’ve been linked to Prestia and Hibberd, and to get both would be a phenomenal outcome. However, we have no round 1 draft pick and both players have a legitimate claim to be worth that, with Prestia obviously being more so. On the assumption we come away with #’s 27 & 45 and a few later, how do we get them to the club? Who do we have to part with and what would we get back, and then how do we package that to get the trade done? (For example, do the Suns have an academy player that they can get with an accumulation of points)? Clearly the players that could be used are Grimes, Trengove, JKH, ANB, Dawes (maybe). Are there others? It’s an interesting talking point, and I can’t pretend to have any idea how to play this one. Out list management team have done a great job over the last couple of years, but this one’s a doozy! Interested in your thoughts..?
  6. Really don't understand that Vanders hate.. Is just such a presence around the ball in addition to his tackling and second efforts. Reckon he's a really important part of the team at the moment. Grimes in for Omac, Brayshaw/Oliver in for Dawes. Vanders/Petracca spend more time forward. B: Jetta TMac Bugg HB: Hunt Frost Vince C: Tyson Viney Stretch HF: Petracca Watts Kent F: Garlett Hogan Kennedy R: Gawn Jones Tyson R: Brayshaw Harmes Vanders Grimes
  7. Yeah that Essendon game was an abomination.
  8. I don't know if it falls over due to lack of effort, though fatigue may have contributed at times. For me it breaks down because of skill errors and/or players advancing too agressively. If we have the ball in hand and we miss a target up the field, instantly we're caught out of position. This means the players standing closest to goal need to come off their man to try and stop the play at the ball. If they get over the top then the player behind (often by that point the FB) needs to do the same and as the dominoes fall we end up conceding a goal from the goal square. Failing to hit targets kills us. What's the saying, 'bad kicking is bad football'. In this new ultra attacking game style, that couldn't be truer.
  9. Can't agree with you there. His 'running around' was more trying to shake off defenders after collecting the ball under pressure, he also gets up and down the ground really nicely. I can definitely see him making it. EDIT: Sorry, meant to quote old dee on that one.
  10. Gee I reckon everyone is being a bit harsh on Vanders, people are talking as if he ONLY tackled. He still picked up 17 touches with 7 contested. When we were getting steamrolled in the 3rd he was the only one showing any energy. His tackling around the ball highlighted by impactful 2nd efforts really stood out for me. There's no way I'd be dropping him. Outs: Dawes (was freaking hopeless), Omac Ins: Garland/Grimes (for Omac), and I don't quite know for Dawes yet - just don't want him there. For a 'leader' he was extremely disapppointing. Reckon you might also see Clarry and/or Brayshaw. Have a feeling they left Clarry out of that game specifically to keep him fresh for Freo. Worth also pointing out that I thought Vince was pretty disappointing yesterday as well.
  11. I've noticed a lot of people saying that Vanders struggled or was a bit untidy. He's not the prettiest footballer but he's just so hard around the ball and is an awkward match up at half forward next to Hogan, Watts and Dawes. I really like what he offered today and would definitely play him next week. Like most I'd focus on fatigued players, Stretch may be in that basket in which case I'd bring in M Jones or Harmes.
  12. Dawes will apply a lot more defensive pressure than Pedersen. So if Dawes can finally, consistently, mark the ball... He's a big upgrade.
  13. You can't pin what happened against port, and the saints for that matter, on the back 6. The centre line was pushing right up and weren't sticking tackles, or had sprinted to put themselves in to an attacking position only to be caught out. They were out of position up the field, so the backs needed to move up and cover which left space in behind. Its team defense these days.
  14. Getting beaten out the back is our greatest problem, and that is structural. That comes back to the coaches who need to revisit. Kents i50 entries were diabolical.
  15. Trengove definitely in for Newton. Oliver in for ANB. Dawes in for kennedy. Have a think about Frost/Dunn for Oscarz
  16. Won't drop kent before kennedy, kennedy was nowhere near it. ANB disappointing, when we needed help on the inside he didn't impact. We need another tall up forward, had no one to compete with westoff. He smashed us. Dawes must come in. Coaches need to look at their structures, they might score better but it just doesn't work going the other way.
  17. And I'm going to agree with someone who posted here earlier. Hogan is a competitive animal who wants nothing more than to kick a bag on Grand Final day on a winning team. He'll look around him and see Petracca, Brayshaw, Oliver, Weideman, Harmes, Viney, Jones, Kent, Garlett and a whole host of others and see the opportunity. I don't think he'll sign a 10 year deal, but a 4 - 5 year deal where he gives himself the opportunity to go home for the back end of his career is extremely likely. The most likely scenario in my opinion. And for those who say his old man is crook and that trumps all... I've seen no verifiable report of that. I've also heard that his family want him to stay in Melbourne. So, really, people will believe what they want to believe.
  18. Orrr... this week was penciled in at the beginning of the season as an opportunity to send Jessie home as we were playing a Saturday afternoon game and a late Sunday afternoon the following week. Some of the hand wringing on this forum is a site to behold.
  19. Its a coin toss. We're a tippers nightmare. Can beat just about anyone on our day, can lose to anyone on our day off. It's a crap shoot.
  20. I think the 10th. Next challenge: working out which bloody shoe to get...
  21. Sorry, what am I missing here. I've gone on the MFC website and the members prices for joggers are only at a 10% discount... Can someone point me in the right direction? EDIT: Sorry, should check my personal email more regularly. Got it now... VALUE!!
  22. If he can bring the same kind of defensive pressure as frost, which he has done in the past sans speed, then he is an upgrade. Pedersens marking ability is valuable, but we haven't seen a lot of consistency from him.
  23. Frost: Gives forward pressure And that is exactly why he's in the team, Pedersen doesn't. I prefer frost.
  24. Unfortunately not Jay, for some ridiculous reason it's only available through iPad and iPhone. I think its a licensing thing. Foxtel know that people will just get the live pass and hook their pc up to the tv... Which is what I'd love to do today, but it's the iPad for me.
  25. Harder for them to play their slick coast to coast footy when we're pressing up and belting them before they even get out of their defensive 50! Big games needed by Kent, Harmes, Jeffy and Kennedy!!
