MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 15
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
And we have 6 players who had not played an AFL game before this year. -
VANDERS SIGNS TO 2017
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
LIKE THIS. -
Their list almost resembles the bunch of fill ins and youngsters we smashed during the NAB........oh that's right.
-
I agree. The Melbourne I know lose games like this. It is usually completed with a post game press conference admitting "we didn't come to play today". This is the game that will show me if we have learnt anything.

Post Match Discussion - Round 14

Pretty good, because he won the ball and used it well unlike most of our side. I put him in my best 6. -
You think clubs will trade higher for him if he plays in our side and dishes up rubbish like that than if we put him to Casey?
-
It has come up numerous times but do we seriously think letting Howe dish up such poor performances week in week out really assists his trade value more than dropping him? Are other clubs really that stupid?
-
Lecras' impact was minimal. That was his opponent?

Sounded like based on Goodwin's quarter time comment that was what they were told to do. -
Assuming Gus pulls up ok. Out: Spencer, Howe, Bail In: Lumumba, Kennedy Harris, Riley

First quarter aside I actually thought Gawn held his own. -

Post Match Discussion - Round 14

We were outrun and outclassed which is really just where the two sides are at. Not helped by playing one too tall and using the sub so early. Brayshaw played for 15 seconds and had one more tackle than Howe. Howe is a lazy disgrace of a footballer and I have no interest seeing him at Melbourne next year. Take whatever you can get. Time to ship Bail and Jones out of the side. They just make too many errors to justify any role they play. -
Tackling aside I actually think he he has had minimal impact.
-
Considering I think we have been at about 80% intensity, have made some howling errors and our pressure chasing them out of our 50 has been non-existent we are only 15 points down. Would not surprise me if we win would not surprise me if we lost by 12 goals.
-
Don't get my wrong I rate the Toump but I am concerned in the humidity and taking an extra tall can he go the distance. Very happy he is in the side..
-
I have changed my mind 50 times on this weeks changes. I think we bring in Hogan, go tall and sub Spencer or Gawn if its not working. Players that can run need to stay in with these conditions particularly if we go in tall so would not surprise me if Toumpas misses. Garland is a must in. In Hogan, Garland Out Riley, Toumpas

National Under 18 Championships - 2015
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Watched the recording of both games today and found Schashe and Weitering daylight ahead of anyone else. The mids were all underwhelming and none really had any run or the toe that we need. Ah Chee and Moore had some eye catching moments but everyone else that caught my is bottom age when I checked. Expecting we wont be in the spot for a top 3 pick so I would be very open to trading or if we are picking a player go higher risk and potential or one of those who are missing the champs through injury. -
Watch Bails job on Motlop second half. Would be very stiff.

The list is starting to look awesome
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
We still seriously lack ball carrying class both midfield and half back and we are a tall forward short (Dixon should be our number 1 target in my opinion). I would also look for a mature back up ruck as support for Gawn and Spencer. We have the inside mids and key backs well covered but still need to improve our players in the 16-26th picked range. -
Kennedy, Darling and resting ruckman to me dictates we need to bring in Fitz for the resting ruckman or Garland to play on Darling. I cant possibly see how we wont play 2 true ruckman against West Coast. We cant play that tall forward so I need no choice but for Dawes to be dropped. In: Hogan, Garland Out: Dawes, Riley

74.9 REASONS TO BACK LYNDEN'S TORPS
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
The benefit of this weeks torp is it was not directly up the middle of the ground so the risk it exposed was less than previous. It is pretty obvious to all when he lays the ball on the ground in goal square and then picks it up that is what he is about to do. As long as he picks the right time to do it and the placement does not expose us I think it should happen more often than current as it will lengthen the spots a team has to defend. -
Post Match Discussion - Round 12 (never in doubt)
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just like I dont think many players have break out games I dont think the club will as well. It is just the wins will become less surprising, the beltings against the tops sides will start to dry up and before you know it you will go to most games expecting a win and every game expecting a hard fought contest. There will be more downs as Geelong are far off a top side these days but there will be more and more ups along the way. -

I don't see an issue with it. Football is a pretty simple game made more complicated over time. -
Post Match Discussion - Round 12 (never in doubt)
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We played man on man. We beat them man on man. We cracked in and ran harder then they did. Our leaders led. Our young guys showed they refuse to be tainted by years passed. Our NQR players played their role and kept their ball handling simple. Still waiting for us to find a way to lose even though the game has been over for 30 minutes.
