  1. Johnson spent most of the game forward and had 35 touches. Garland was standing next to him at all centre set ups when he was not in the middle. Make of that what you will.
  2. Who was Garland matched up on?
  3. Its about balance. Tapscott at this time cannot run out a game. We already lack pace so removing Bail one of few that has any makes no sense.
  4. The sub needs to be picked on the assumption that if you get an early injury you are confident they will get through the game. I expect LJ to play VFL next week and get 4 quarters of match fitness. I would then not be surprised for him to play the next 2 weeks at AFL level (most likely as the sub) whilst Casey are not playing.
  5. Taken from the Age article on the Casey game. Watts' last goal came from a clever one-handed grab while holding off his opponent. The athletic forward laid one tackle, and Casey coach Brett Lovett did not know whether it would be enough to earn a quick recall. Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/demons-fume-over-viney-hit-20120505-1y610.html#ixzz1u3PAlor7 I will be disappointed if he regains his spot based on that.
  6. What do you mean when Moloney turns it around. When has he ever offered anything defensively? He is a one way player and even then he is B-Grade at best. His winning a Bluey and Brownlow votes in our wins says more about where we were at then than it does his status as a decent player. In saying that the game was really lost today by our half forwards offering no defensive pressure or chase back through the middle. Sylvia, Bail and Howe in particular played lazy football.
  7. 6. Clark (no e) 5. Frawley 4. Jones 3. Morton 2. T-Mac 1. Jamar (40 taps and no one else deserving)
  8. In: Fitzpatrick, Blease, Bennell Out: Sellar, Bate, Tapscott
  9. No one doubts Watts can play. Keen to know how many 1%ers to go with the goals and possessions.
  10. I would love to know our strategy with the sub. Dunn is only good when playing a defensive role. How do you do this with a green vest on? We obviously just use the sub as the 22nd player with no consideration of them having an impact when played.
  11. We just cant take a trick.
  12. How many tackles? I have a feeling that is more important today than goals or possessions.
  13. I have mentioned to others that Dangerfield should be our number 1 target. He is a perfect fit for the playing style being implemented and our requirement for a skilled contested ball winner, he is also the right age demographic. He is out of contract as well as the additional factors of being his home state and previous strong relationship with Neil Craig. If we are not planning a big move on him I would be very surprised.
  14. Yes I thought Dunn and Macdonald were ok as well but someone must make way for necessary ins and they are definitely filler until other players are ready.
  15. This will be amended after hearing how Casey perform but I would go with minimal change. Our forward structure looked better with 1 big tall and will look better next week when that big tall is Clark. Geelong being a smaller ground Jamar should ruck most of game and play Sellar back on Hawkins and throw him in for bursts if required. Those who want Watts dropped are ignoring the conditions and his improved performances in the earlier rounds. In: Clark, Frawley Out: Dunn, MacDonald
  16. Just before someone states he got all his ball on the outside - 9 contested possessions.
  17. His effort was improved but he made some very poor errors. Kick to no one in the goal square in the first, the easy miss in the third, his ongoing attempts to attempt to beat 4 tackles instead of taking the first option.
  18. Fischer had Watts on him in the first quarter and had 10 touches. Dunn then went to him and he had 13 for the rest of the game. May have been coincidence?
  19. I agree with this. Dunn had dulled Fischers influence and Watts was not having a great game.
  20. You can add Moloney to the uglies tonight. He made some howlers.
  21. 6. Jones 5. McKenzie 4. Jamar 3. Grimes 2. Magner 1. T-Mac
  22. Regardless of draft position I doubt there is a club out there that if they had recruited Cale would have delisted him by now. He was 192cm skinny kid as if he wasnt going to be given time. It is also quite amusing for you to say he has learnt nothing regarding defensive skills and contested footy and then ban the stats that directly refute your case. Would I choose him at pick 4 if we had our time again no. Does he still at the age of 22 have plenty of potential that should be given every opportunity to be developed. Absolutely. There are plenty more who have reached their ceiling who will be cut before he is even considered. .
  23. They stated that our desire indicators this week were at the expected levels. There was no indication that previous weeks were acceptable. Our level of effort was good on the weekend particularly second half. Now if we could just stop giving it back to the opposition once we have it.
  24. Boyd was held by Magner to 19 possessions after having 38 round 1, 28 round 2 and 39 round 3. Would have liked him to have got more ball the other way but did a great job quelling his influence.
  25. The Morton handball should have been better however Moloney cannot handle any ball that does not hit him completely on target. Any good midfielder would have been able to manage that ball.
