  1. Family friends with James and watched him go through the ranks. Also used to throw some iron around in the gym with him. Pound for pound the strongest bloke Ive ever known/seen. Will set the bar very high in the gym - which would be a good thing for many of our young mids

  4. I think I can help you . Go outside into the park with a cricket bat or a large piece of wood . Smash the bat into your toes 30 times over two hours . Slowly work your way up the body until you've trained yourself to enjoy the pain. Finally ,smash the bat into your own balls and then into your head repeating "I love the MFC" "I hate myself for loving the MFC" Then get drunk . Doing this will save you having to watch these videos ,which are thankfully becoming extinct .

  6. It's this group that will remain the concern moving forward. At least two A-grade stars have to emerge from that lot plus another three will have to take their game up two gears. Unless the improvement in 2012 is dramatic, I can't see us making the eight with that group.

  10. What a strange strange post. I think Williams is a great pick up and could be a long term goalkicker for us. Fev would not have been. We went for big bodies to complement our already good young talent. i love the look of our list and coaching panel right now. can not be in better shape as far as I'm concerned. If your post was an attempt at sarcasm then I apologise my radar must have misfired.

  11. I can't ask my fellow Landers for their "own eye" opinions? Thanks Billy, I have seen the training reports. They were not reports of Melbourne players. The next ones will be.

  13. Ok, here we go. A 24 mid with a liking for the contest... Could he be considered a chance to start 2012 in our midfield?

  16. Four score and several seasons ago our Dunn brought forth on our team a new Mo conceived in eccentricity and dedicated to the proposition that not all players are created equal and that only those who are really out there persona wise are likely to attain any cult following and really f#$K with their opponents tiny minds. At a time of bland conformity, of carefully manicured metrosexuality and minder manipulated player "products" he boldly goes where only Austrian privates previously passed. Do not mock the MO brother Demon! Stand by him and defend his individuality, his eccentricity - he is different as we that are Melbourne are different. Ask not what his Mo does for him! Ask instead what we can do for the Mo - for the Mo is as the Jo and together they form the MoJo. Verilly I say brother (not fully knowing what verilly means) that it is the MoJo which inspires the pot from outside 50 which is the Dunn thing. At the rising of the sun and at the gathering of the froth at the lip we will remember him and his Mo. (My response to this topic on the 3rd of September 2010).

  18. How is it a difficult concept to grasp? For the past 5 years we have had a certain balance to our batting lineup since Johnson has been in the side. It has meant that we have, in the past, fielded a stronger batting lineup than we have at the moment. I could easily have not mentioned Johnson at all and, instead, simply said that our bowlers in this test are weaker as a collective than they have been for some time. This was exposed during that run chase. I think people are looking for an anti-Johnson angle on this one when it was simply a comment about the batting strength of our bowlers. It was not a comment about selection and it certainly wasn't a comment with any particular agenda behind it. I'll try to remove the subtlety from my posts in the future, but doing so certainly takes a lot of the fun out of posting.

  20. I hope we take a punt on Tuck, because I see little downside to the selection. But those wondering about him getting another chance may have to realise that there's a pretty good chance that he just isn't good enough.

  21. Most of us journey through life without thinking too often of the end. Sure, we know we won't live forever, but death is an event that will happen at some undetermined point somewhere in our future. Despite knowing we are mortal we push that fact to one side, blissfully ignorant of our death until it is upon us - or perhaps not at all. I struggle to comprehend what it must be like to be aware of your impending death, teetering on the edge for months, then years, and then months again. It sounds like Stynes has embraced the positive of this brush with mortality; the prioritising of what is really important, something most of us won't do until it is too late.

  22. What does this mean? Junior was a stopgap? To whom? He was a fine captain, and his absence in 2011 hurt us more than many thought. He was a fantastic leader for this club and more than a 'stopgap.' If you mean a 'short term' captain then I can understand. Stopgap implies that the person in the position is a placeholder - destined to vacate when a better candidate is deemed suitable. Junior was hardly that.

  23. Doesn't Jimmy just put life in a different perspective. All the bitchiness that goes on in life including on these forums. For what purpose? It makes you just sit back take a deep breath and thank God that you and your family are healthy. My prayers are with you Jimmy, let's hope that you conquer the mountain. No-one deserves it more than you.
