Cameron Bruce Injured?

Featured Replies

Posted

In breaking news Cameron Bruce has just done his medial Ligament in his knee at training today and will miss a minimum of 4-6 weeks. News is that he is on crutches and will miss the Nab cup. He would be 50/50 chance if he plays the 1st week of the season.

Shocking News :(

Please note that while I don't doubt the story, I have edited the title of the thread in order to prevent our posters from having a heart attack. Cheers :)

Bugger! But rounds 2 or 3 even is not a disaster?

To be honest if that's true I was actually relieved when I read 4-6 weeks and not 12 months.

If Bruce is injured, it did not happen today because I read about the rumour on bigfooty 2 days ago and didn't give it much credence.

It happened today

Ill believe it when it see it from a media source.

Also training on a sunday??

Bruce Almighty would rest on a sunday!

Unless he's done it walking his dog (Wonders would never cease with our past history of injury)

I understand injuries happen, but why do they happen so frequently to us when we aren't even under the pressure of a fully cooked game!

I don't expect / want to read about injuries from training.

Round 1 is 7 weeks away; at least he's got a good tank, can hopefully hit the ground running, if all is true.

Either way, it's not "shocking".

Will wait for confirmation as well, however 4-6 weeks is hardly disastrous if true.

Sure it will put him behind the eight-ball in terms of fitness preparation, but a round 2 or 3 or 4 return is hardly going to change the course of our season.

He has always been very fit, so no doubt he'll be able to make up for lost time quickly. Just as long as he didn't injure his kicking knee, because god knows he doesn't need any more reasons to fluff them kicks :P

Anyone else getting the feeling we will never see Cam at his best again?

Ever since Guarra(??) pile drove him into the car park cement it's been one injury after another.

There is no source, but by brother and i know bruce personally and we found out the news today.

So if you found out the news today, where did the news come from? Did you speak to him? Mum? Dad? Did you receive an email?, phone call? what?

If you know it happened today, where were they training? Was Dean Bailey there?

I don't think so. To me it seems since that day, we've been frightened to put him in the heat of the battle; to our detriment. DB i doubt will be so fragile in his thinking. Bruce has a massive engine, if he's allowed to play in the middle and get his own ball, I'm we will see Bruce at his best on a more consistent basis

It happened today

This is what Westy's Warriors posted yesterday at 12.40pm on bigfooty - http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=411746

"I actually heard last night that Cam Bruce has hurt a ligament in his knee and will be out of action for up to 6 weeks

Did he mention anything about that?"

It seems to me that if he indeed hurt his knee, it happened on Friday or alternatively Westy's Warriors is a clairvoyant.

Either that or he hasn't hurt his knee.

dworship, what time was the Ballarat Demons function today? Maybe they held training today without the coach and a few of the players. ;)

I can confirm this (take it or leave it, no source will be given). It did NOT happen today. As I understand it, we're looking at 4-6 weeks out (which suggests to me a medial ligament). The main issue I can see is that Cam has already missed a chunk of pre-season due to his wedding/honeymoon, so he's likely to go into the season significantly underdone.

Brucey's obviously been indulging in too much leftover wedding cake; his knees can't support his weight.

Personally, I don't see it as such a bad thing.

That is so unfair of you, exposing my snare and taking my barb. I didn't really expect a reply, I think someone may have missed their bedtime if they posted.

Oh and Kyle Cheney is living with a host family in Brighton and Cam is picking him up for training each day.

Im not to sure if it happened yesterday..........but anyway whether it happened on Friday, Saturday or Sunday it doesn't really matter.........he has injured himself :(

sad if true, but just gives another one of our youngsters a chance to prove themselves, maybe Cale Morton ??

Like people said he is very under done because of his interrupted pre-season with his wedding.

Man... This sucks. I'm just waiting for the first "Bohdan strikes again."

The boys are arriving in Canberra today for their annual Community Camp. I'll be taking every opportunity to watch training etc. and will keep you all posted on whatever I can see / find out on Brucey.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
