Sandringham also had its AGM this week and new coach Andy "Chopper" Lovell wowed those in attendance with his outline of his role at the club. He also has Paul Hopgood on board as an assistant. Chopper knocked back an offer from Brisbane to join Leigh Matthews on his coaching staff to take the Sandy gig.

Most of last year's Sandy listed players will be back next year although Chad Liddell has relinquished the captaincy and David Gallagher and Danny Hughes will miss most of the season with injury. Ezra Poyas is rumoured to be off north to play on the Gold Coast - his family is living in northern NSW. Stef Martin and Shane Valenti are of course on Melbourne's lists but will probably see action in the Zebra colours. Sandy will also have the benefit of some of the newer MFC listed players for 2007.

As far as new signings are concerned, the Zebras have been waiting on the completion of the drafts before signing some more new blood.

well since when have sandy recruited some ex afl players? the last good name recruit we have had is probably ezra poyas and chris lamb. now that poyas is ready to leave and Gallagher we need some players to fill there positions.

firstly, sandy have won 3 premierships and were close last season in the last 4 yrs, so it doesnt seem to be a problem.

secondly, why would any demons supporter prefer to see an x-afl player play for sandy, taking the place of youngsters who could be developing at vfl senior level? imho id prefer to see as few non-listed players playing for sandy as possible. what is the advantage for us when sautner kicks 6 each week, and we cant develop a future fullforward bc he sits in the goal square and leads out.
