I'm not one who get's overly excited about pre-seasons, who we draft, who is flying at training etc. In saying that it is always nice to read a few things about the new recruits. Our recruiting for 2007 has been as good as any other teams at the moment, and we'll find where we stand on this years draft in a few years time. (earlier if we are lucky!)

It's great to see MFC in the press so often lately, and for all the right reasons. We aren't a marquee club by any means, but we are out there promoting the 150th (although I think we should make sure the AFL aren't stealing all our thunder!), China ventures show we are thinking outside the square, our new Training facilities are around the corner. And apart from a few indiscretions overseas, our players are in the news for only the right reasons. We have a way to go, as we all know, but it's a start.

Paul Gardner has given Jeff Kennett what he deserves, and has pointed out the flaws in the AFL draw and hardships all clubs face.

"We gave him five-and-a-half weeks to come and impress us and after five-and-a-half weeks, unfortunately, we didn't draft him so he didn't impress us." Dean Bailey on Ashley Sampi

I read the above quote earlier today, but actually saw Dean Bailey say it just now on Fox Sports News. Bailey may not be able to coach for all I know, but to me the set jaw and gaze into the camera shows a confident man, comfortable in his philosophies. There is no doubt in my mind who is boss. I personally think all these leadership groups and empowering the players blah blah blah, that clubs talk about are a load of rubbish. Players really aren't that smart. Let them play, don't complicate things. Captain, Vice Captain and get on with the business. I'd rather take a punt on Martin, than have another Moorcroft, Read or Pickett on our list. So I am happy with the tone the club is setting.

If you get a chance, watch Bailey talk about Sampi. Brutally honest. The way it should be.

I'm outta here.

Ohhhh baby ohh yeah......I love it when you talk dirty Trumpy.

Can we change this thread to the "Trumperdero Worship Thread"????

Red and Blue, we can change it to anything you want. Just don't get too excited or you'll need a cold spoon. I hear robbo is going to be in the Elizabeth Street mall again soon, so there's another sick day off work for you. I remember you saying that robbo can jump on your back any day of the week, so here is your big chance.

Being athetically gifted doesn't preclude you from being smart, and I'm sure you've noted Bailey talking about how he'd like to have the players contribute ideas etc.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
