Given the color of the grass in the background, I think the red may appear brighter in the photo than it actually is.

you put those red shirts on EVERY member, every melbourne fan at the MCG, and we will look a more impressive crowd than ever!!!

The ultira-bright red will standout from a distance, and also will be visible in background/crowd shots during games, offsetting what will probably remain a predominately blue colour range.

Here's a bizarre little study to quote -

With all other things being equal, this represents a real advantage. We have to go with more red!
