Assistant Coaches

Senior Coach: Dean Bailey

Fitness Coach: Bohdan Bubjuck (how ever you spell it)

Where does Josh Mahoney fit in?

Who else do we want for the other spots? Todd Viney now that Hardwick didnt get the Bombers job?

Can we afford a development coach?

I want Allen Jakovich as forward line coach

And by the way, the correct spelling is Bohdan Hamstringdestroyer

I wouldnt mind finding out if Aaron Hamill is available.

I dont know him but have heard him speak, He strikes me as a quality person and a leader.

He always tried to get the utmost out of himself.

Aaron Hamill i believe was a very overrated footballer. He was mentally capable but his body couldn't keep up

Isn't our development coach Mark Williams from sandy??

I believe the assistant coaching staff at this stage are: Williams and Mahoney (confirmed), and O'Donnell (unconfirmed). I'd like the club to add another dedicated assistant in a dual capacity as Ruck coach with maybe a developmental role as well.- maybe someone like Luke Darcy or Matthew Clarke.

I think Mark Williams title is misleading, my understanding is that he's Sandy's senior coach... to call him our development coach is just paying lip service to a very important role at the club.

Good shout Graz. Both are high-quality individuals, so would be well suited to a mentoring role. Doubtful the club will do it though, unless it's at Bailey's specific request.

Coach: Dean bailey

Assistants: Paul Williams, Josh Mahoney....and we need someone else good

I'm sure Cream (new nickame for Bailey..how good is that haha) will get it right

We have another assistant that came in when Riley was promoted I think his name is Prentagast(spelling is wrong) he presented a couple of trophis on Monday night, I think he is staying as well.

Barry or Ian?

We need to get a full time development coach.

In fact, we need to put more money into the footy department, and I believe the club is looking into it.

When you compare the spending of clubs like Collingwood, not to mention interstate clubs, it is staggering to see how far behind we are.

Also, the fact that we've had such a high turnover of staff is a concern. We change our assistant coaches more than you change your underwear. It really is a worry.

Bailey is probably looking at getting a team around him that he trusts and that share his vision. It might take a few weeks for that team to come together, now that the finals are over. Who knows, we might be looking to poach assistants, or maybe he wants to bring in some more ex-players.

We also need a full time ruck coach IMO... like Sam Newman, only sane ;)

barry prendergast- he used to be the opposition coach..., not sure about him. I'd rather Bailey bring in one more

It depends on how Bailey wants to structure his department. He may not have a forward, back and midfield coach. Mahoney would be good with the younger players.

Mark Williams is an interesting one. On the one hand it makes good sense to share the development role with the Sandy role as most of the developing players would be playing at Sandy anyway. How much this compromises his role at Melbourne is debateable.

Happy to have him as he is.. lol ( he's not so silly !! )

Tom Hafey for more motivation. the man is fitter than anyone i know and would blow some wind up there ass if they didn't comply. This would remove the last of the daniher fairys buzzing around. Get some Blood sweat and tears back in the gym and on the track. The man is a tough and thats what we need. A tackling coach from storm too would be handy Jmac was the only one that was comitted to tackling last year

Mick Crocker would be nice when he retires

Barry Prendergast is the Opposition Analyst. He used to coach at Werribee.

Oddly enough Australian Novelist Barry Oakley's second book (1970) was "Let's Hear it for Prendergast". He also wrote "Salute to the Great McCarthy" and "Walking Trough Tigerland" if you're looking for a footy nexus.

We need a real development coach similar to Alan Richardson/Brad Scott at the Pies. I have argued this for a while. Collingwood have fast tracked their junior players as well as or better than anyone else because of these blokes. I would like to think that we would go after David Flood (Calder Premiership Coach and former team mate of Bailey's at the Bombers); or if he isn't available perhaps Graeme Yeats (ex Demon who has coached at the Stingrays for the past three years and before that was at Sandringham). Both have good junior development records. I have always rated Flood and I think he would be a good get. The other obvious one would be Chris Scott now that he has retired. Always loved the way he went about it and certainly got the most out of himself.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
