Robbo Departure?

Yze got 3 - wrong decision.

Bizzell got 3 - wrong decision.

Robertson ? I'd happily trade him for the right deal.

Btw, many supporters strongly criticised the club for those aforementioned 3 year deals at the time. There's no benefit of hindsight here.

Agree with all of that.

Watch Robbo kick 10 on Sunday....

Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing though!

half u guys are fools....

trade robbo....lol

dodgy knee or not he still manged to kick the most goals for us this season..

he should get 3 years.... the club has made mistakes before in this siuatuon and both ends of the scale..

lettin him go is not an option...

they will have to negotiate

Depends whether he kicks it like Franklin - 1 goal 10....

3 years would seem like a bit much to offer him, considering his recent run with knee injuries. I hope he can agree to two years if that's offered to him, and i think he'd take it. He really seems to love the club, it's the only one he knows and i've felt that the few times i've spoken to him.

He's given us some great highlights, i'd be really sad if he left. :(

That is very true.

He has been a good & loyal Melbourne player & should be able to play out his career here.

I think Melbourne would only trade him if they were approached. It would have to be a pretty good trade for us to do it though.

I posted this elsewhere Jaded. And knowing melbourne if he kicks 10 they'll probably give him the 3 yr deal only to regret is in 12 months time.

Having said that wouldn't it be impossible for negotiate new playing contracts until the coach comes on board. No one knows what his plans are. Someone like Sheedy might have a done deal for some one at Essendon for Robbo already.

This is the crux of it. Nothing will be done til the coach sits down and has a think... And thats what Robbos obviously concerned about !! lol

I have a brilliant idea.

Lets trade Robbo for a fourth round draft pick.

Screw the veterans. Lets go for speculative kids who have played 3 games in the TAC Cup.

PFFT...

Possibly improves his trade value. :D

I dont know what currency 10 goals has against a side that is evidently tanking and presumably flogged by a hell of a margin.

He won't kick 10. I'll put him at 4 though...

He's good - But he's not that good ;)

I agree, he is good, but he is clearly not healthy enough to kick more than a couple and they will have to be close to goal as he is seeming to kick the ball more than about 40m. Just hope he doesn't injure himself further by trying to do too much to win the game and show he is worth a 3 year contract.

I just hope he doesn't try to be Jackie Chan..

I wonder if he will set out to try and get a Goal or Mark of the year seeing as we will have little to no opposition against him by the sounds of it?

Oh you know he will.

He will give away free kicks, a few kicks on the full, a few plays were he falls over & pretend he's hurt so he doesn't have to try, & miss 6 easy shots.

Ahhh, only Robba can achieve such glory on the field, but at the end of the day we love him as he entertains us with how early he jumps for a mark, but somehow still comes down with the ball in his mits.

I do recall an interview with Robbo during the time of Danihers depature and he made a comment, of which i found odd at the time, that he would give the new coach his full support provided the new coach still wanted him.

Sounds bizzare for a player, who despite current injuries, is still very much regarded as a required player (and would be aware of that fact) to suggest he may not be wanted. Why even make a comment about his future when the topic is very much concerned with Daniher and his replacement?

The way i see it is don't renew his contract unless he takes a pay cut, read the story and the offical website and he says there are "nitty-grittys" to sort out, that generally means money.

Haha...

I hate that but yeah, your right, he is sensational when he wants to be...

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
