tonight told me why brock is just not ready for captain the club yet. about 5 times i saw him get caught holding the ball twice in the space of 2 minutes in a crucial moment, by that skinny lil [censored] dale thomas!! brock tends to think that he can just about break any tackle.. well he needs to pull his head in and stop thinking about himself but more for his teamates. Nathan Jones was a bit like that tonite aswell. both tend to think they can outrun most of there opponents.

not good enough

Twice he got caught, and yes it was a pretty shitty game from brocky, done a couple of classy things though...

Before everyone goes and says how he should be traded and that he's [censored]... He is clearly not 100% fit atm. so give him a break he'll be awesome next season

fair enough for brock........but i still think he's not at the peak of his powers and he is trying to do things as if he is, which i think is fair enough......thats the way he plays. jones i thought was fantastic, love the way this guy plays and i wouldn't want to hold him back. i thought he was great and look forward to seeing him progress.

Brock was not at his best, but his willpower to push to contest one after another shows this kid has the right stuff.

Yep, he runs to create a contest every time, even when he's in pain... and he was in some serious pain tonight.

I just wish that now that Neita has played his 300th, that we just rest everyone who isn't 100% fit, and McLean would almost be at the top of the list. He was on fire after his foot healed, and then he injured his groin and has struggled. At least he's still out there making a contest, and standing up for his teammates.

He is still the best replacement for Neita that we've got.

Who said he should be traded?

He has put in a long line of shockers this year and if he runs out on the ground he is accountable for his performance.

Its not good enough.

And he has been one of major disappointments this year. And there have been a few.

He needs to produce next year..his 5th season. Its payback time.

Talk it up Jaded and make excuses, but Brock has been ordinary for quite some time this year and it isn't all injury.

People who don't take the injuries Mclean's played with this season into consideration are simply dense-headed.

he is a fantastic footballer and a great potential captain.

when he starts dominating next year people will realize how some players struggle bc the injuries they play with really do inhibit them from playing at their 100% best.

I didn't say it was all injury, and yes he has had some very ordinary games this year.

I just find it hilarious that the same clowns come out and rub it in after every poor performance. The kid is 21 and has played less than 60 games. FFS, give him a break!

The level of expectation we put on him is completely unrealistic. Nobody has the same pressure on them as McLean does. And yet he's not allowed to struggle while he's learning and while he's being heavily tagged and while he's injured.

How about we just let him be for a while, instead of magnifying every poor performance. There are plenty of senior players who don't get nearly as much heat when they have a bad night.

[censored], he's not a 300 game veteran!!!

I hope he does.

But saying he has injuries is a perfect way to mask the reality of his game. Its poor.

Yze had people fooled for the past 3 years with his game on the account he ws playing injured. Sure.

Yeah. Forget about a player who is practically at the bottom of every pack but makes a few mistakes and has a few bad games being captain. Instead, lets give the captaincy to a player who can't kick and sits with his arms crossed on the outside of packs screaming "give it to me, give it to me"...

Its even more hilarious when those blinded to it continually make some of the silliest excuses for him.

He was recruited as an insude midfielder. He does not get the ball and cant shake a tag. My expectations are not unreasonable. Next year is his fifth year. He has to produce.

Brock McLean came into 2007 as one of the three most important players in our line up with Rivers and Neitz. He has not passed the metric.

He is a high first round draft pick and a preferred choice of captain. He should get used to greater focus.

I don't have the energy to argue about this anymore. We both know that we'll never agree on this issue if you think I'm making silly excuses.

Melbourne supporters are so desperate for a star, that they expect every 21 year old to dominate consistently week in, week out. No wonder that they are shattered and disappointed when this doesn't happen.

And don't tell me has to produce because it's his 5th season next year, he has ALREADY produced.

Funny how Sylvia doesn't get special threads every time he has a dud game. Oh that's right, Sylvia has been injuries his entire career...

Give Brock a break, to be in the midfield you have to run run run run run ! and to do it at AFL level you have to be seriously fit and you can only be fit when you have not had an interupted season due to injury. The other thing you need is toughness and willpower and he showed that plenty tonight, a big pre-season and no injuries and everyone will be saying how good he is next year. I would like to play with a captain like going to war , someone who would die for the team and Brock would.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
