And I should say, what impressed me most wasnt his frame or contested work, but his poised ball use under pressure.

How good was that slight jink to the left suggesting he was going corridor, and instead squaring up and kicked to a free player (can't recall who) inside 50

Roo, I think, but yeah, was very impressed on the replay.

I watched the last quarter again today and I think it's probably his best game.

I know he kicked some goals late last year, but he had real influence when the heat was on in the last.

Melbourne Media playing almost as well as the boys now (though they eased off near their final siren! 😄)

Just wanted to say that I’m really loving the dees crowd. I think we can all admit attending dees games our fans have been up and about but a haven’t been on the loud side or show much passion (apart from some) but I’m seriously loving ricking up to the g knowing dees supporters are turning up and being loud. Being in the crowd right now is such a great vibe and being able to celebrate goals and wins with dees supporters who are strangers sitting next to you and high fiving is something I haven’t really experienced much of being at dees games. Just wanted to shout out all you dees supporter and let’s keep on tiring up because my gosh we are loud and I think the boys are definitely thriving off it ❤️💙👏👏👏👏

The amount of people I’ve seen claim that wasn’t a free against McCluggage for blocking Langford in the goal square is crazy

McCluggage didn’t even argue with the umpire - knew straight away that he made a totally unnecessary mistake

Mustn’t learn the rules up in QLD!

Brisbane supporters behind us were happy to concede it was a free. What they didn't like was that the free was paid then, when they (and they acknowledged this too) had been getting away with questionable blocking for the whole game.

They have a point imo. If something gets paid, it should be paid for the entire game.
Equally if something doesn't get paid all game, a crucial moment late in the last isn't the time to finally call it.

All that said, I'll obviously take it!
I'll also reserve the right to be furious when we are on the wrong end of it... 😁

Raynor's mark that hit the ground?

Nah, the one where he tried to play on 😝

Or was it the one where he marked it in the first row? 😎

Does that constitute a break out game from Kolt?

26 touches at 90% efficiency against the bench mark, and that tremendous clearing kick from deep in defence that found Sparrow when the game was on the line with 2 minutes left.

Full credit to him and I hope he builds from that.

I really hope he makes it because he is a likeable guy with an infectious personality which every side needs.

Far out that was a shocker. 5m over the line easily. And he kicked a goal from it. 🤦

I wonder if the boys were somehow spurred on to produce such a wonderful performance by the need to redeem themselves from the 'shame' of the previous week. 🤔

Just watched the last quarter again.

The tackle on Prince Charming by Max and then Steele was a great example of our determination and grit to hold on and win this game.

To be fair Ashcroft did well to still be standing after being tackled by 112kg of Max muscle but I loved JS chipping in to finish the job.

It was a pivotal moment and could have cost us a goal and four points.

So job incredibly well done.

Despite Cameron getting through tackles to score just prior, stopping Mr hairdo was a beautiful thing to watch and I think saved the game

Thanks Max and tx ST Kilda for letting us have J S........what a steal.

It was fascinating to see Max impact a game ...not greatly so but enough.

I mention this because if you knew he wasn't go to take one single mark you'd have put some cash on the lions.

Nonetheless he had 20 odd disposals and used them well. Four solid tackles and seemed to win a lot of ruck duals.

Again...he impacts another game and this time without even taking a mark.

He is one of our greatest players ever.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
