Changes to the Brownlow Medal Voting

People are terrified that Nick Daicos might win a Brownlow, aren't they?

I think that a) he'd be a most worthy winner and b) we'd all adore him if he played for Melbourne.

Come at me.

You might choke on 'Quintuple Brownlow Medallist, Nick Daicos', though?

Unless, as you say, it's 'Quintuple Brownlow Medallist, Melbourne's Nick Daicos' in his 5 years with us as a free agent post his current contract.

Stats as an aid for the umps is a good idea

And not within time ... should have happened years ago

But the stats can be misleading

For instance, a player like Kozzie doesn't need 25+ disposals to be an absolute standout

Latrelle 12 possessions and 4 goals? He's getting votes!!

I really hate this — loved that Brownlow was an outlier not based on stats it makes it fun & often aligns anyways bar few weird games that is obv why they’ve changed it.. but even the R20 game, NAS dominated 2 quarters only, Jack was solid for 4 so whilst he should’ve got the 3 he still got 2 FFS..

16 categories of stats is a LOT to drown USO’s with.. also does less to make it a non mids medal so for me it’s a lose lose but get why umps wanted data so they can avoid the howlers but seriously who cares — It makes the night interesting unique and fun!

Also means that now, Daicos is a certainty! I just hope they use champion data stats that measure efficiency, impact etc

Daicos could get 60 votes in a season if no injuries.

Anything for Daicos to win.

He gets 10 kick ins a game pushing him up to 30+ disposals which will give him the brownlow.

Thats why are kick ins are one of the chosen stats. Still a wrought tho

Maybe so the umpires know to deduct those from players' total disposals (if they choose)

Really grinds me gear this got brought out in the article explaining the change, yes Nasiah was the hero of the day but it's not the biggest travesty in Brownlow voting history.

Yes exactly and he got TWO VOTES u like other howlers for history whereby best player got ZERO (ie Williams with 44p that day)
