Drive to Survive: The Final Siren

Featured Replies

The makers of Drive to Survive have done a series on the AFL based on the 2025 season and guess which club features prominently throughout?

Yep The Demons. Just when we thought the trials and tribulations of 2025 were past us out comes a docu that will shine a spotlight on the machinations of the AFL and Demons

Great. The other clubs to feature are the DOgs (Bontomepelli) Brisbane (Zorko and Rayner), the Giants (of course!), Gold Coast (what a surprise) and Freo.

Strangely enough the Lachie Neale sag won't be highlighted but you can be sure Oliver, Trac, Goodwin etc will be front and centre.

Big names star in new behind-the-scenes docuseries

The AFL will be shown to the world in a new docuseries on Prime Video

Well, okay. With a little luck it'll be okay and it could be interesting to see Gawn 'at work', rather than in an explicitly media-front context. I guess they picked a good season to document.

Also, I think I may have found the problem in AFL HQ.

Exhibit A

"AFL Executive General Manager Customer, Commercial and Technology". I'm going to go with 'title inflation and fiefdom building' for $100, thanks.

Exhibit B

"Final Siren is an important asset as the AFL continues to grow its reach"

How can the Neale saga be documented when it’s just come out and the doco was from last year

They sometimes issue updates if an event supercedes filming

Cmon mate, they are not going to highlight a marriage breakdown.

Not sure about that - the last season of the F1 Drive to Survive certainly highlighted Christian Horner's personal trials and turbulations

Fair enough then, I wasn’t aware of that

if thats LN snag then I hope not....

It’s actually great for us, if we have a season where we either do great or even just above expectations, the club will be more likely to thrive when it comes to getting more players, coaches.

It would display a total flip in all aspects making it look a bit of a destination club showing great signs, instead of what it was in 2025.

Fingers crossed for 2026.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
