It doesn’t take long for his phone to strike a connection with the van, and the Demons superstar’s pick for the first track of the climb is Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

WTF?? It’s a long climb back from where Kossie just fell in my estimation. 😉

Paul Guerra getting lost in a Victorian alpine region is a good omen for the club in terms of how the Demons are expected to fare in the coming season.

The last time Melbourne people got lost in the Victorian snow country, it was in the 50s when we were winning premierships.

And one of them was former Demon Lily Mithen’s grandfather

Pretty much the same as ever as despite being on a break, the effects of the chemo just seem to want to hang around. I’m back on that toxic juice again starting from the 5th January, so any thoughts of getting down to Melbourne to catch some training are pretty much now on the back burner; probably for at least the next six months. But, as I keep saying, being the pragmatist that I am, none of this ever really gets to me anyway (at least I can watch the games on the tellie)… it’s the music that I’ll miss.

keep your chin up buddy

I had exactly the same thought HT.

And our new coach apparently approved, tapping the steering wheel, seemingly in musical heaven.

Probably play 'I had the time of my life' on the way home.

Wonder if this is on Kozzies play list too 🤔 🤔🤔

Couldnt agree more.

Perhaps you can provide some more appropriate if obscure tracks for the players music education.

I was intrigued on my recent visit to Norfolk Island that a local performer, who sang an impressive collection of covers, had not heard of Otis Redding, and then in Coloundra a similar performer made the same comment. I thought every performer knew sitting on the Dock of the bay, but his impressive collection contains so many different rythms and tempos that he always inspires me.

Sorry to hijack Training thread , thanks for everyone who contributed

Im invested for the season ita gonna be great.

Im gonna stick my neck out here; the song's a banger! Whitney's not my taste in music either (and I just can't sit through I Will Always Love You) . But there are guilty pleasures out there that are fun to hear occasionally. I'm actually impressed Kosi had the guts to choose this AND he feels comfortable enough with his teammates to do so. Ironically if it would have been less interesting if he chose the most obvious 'cool' song. 😂

Just a moment while I fetch my handy dandy (blue’s clues anyone?) guillotine. Actually, you do make a good argument, but I’d still love an energising little number like Sedated (a little Ramones never goes astray), or Jesus Built My Hot Rod by Ministry (cool? no, weird? yes).

And you shall have them. Amazingly these days it's so easy to have almost any song at your fingertips. Ministry covered Lay Lady Lay, yes? I know the title but finally Im gonna play the song you mentioned (which is probably way closer to my tastes than Whitney. Oh, and maybe Kosi could have instead selected the fast One-Armed Scissor by At The Drive-in or The Rapture's House Of Jealous Lovers.)

I believe her grandfather was Laurie Mithen#11’s cousin, Tacky.

But I might be wrong!

Wine snobs and music snobs, I can’t work out who is the more insufferable. Why are people so intolerant of other people’s tastes.

Music is largely entertainment and I’d suggest Whitney is well up there in providing that and has one of the greatest female voices of all times. Having said that I’m not a big fan.

How's the weather Don? Still raining?

Imagine, if you will, having these guys playing on the MCG before the team runs out. Max Gawn appears at 0:40!!

I raise a glass of my finest Pinot in furious agreement, Mr Slarti!

And my, what a wide-ranging and erudite thread. Did I inadvertently stumble onto a Mensa site?

There’s always sunlight breaking through my rain clouds, Mr/Ms 55. And yours…?

Off topic, but the owner of your profile name was, when I was a child, my surgeon at the Mercy Hospital when I had what they then referred to as ‘gravel’, in my kidney (kidney stones, I assume).

My comments were not intended as criticism of Kossie or anyone else… my musical tastes are actually very eclectic, although I’m not a fan of over produced anthemic stuff.

Performing in a band myself (as I’m sure others in this forum also do), I do understand the entertainment value of music, but I have to disagree with the “one of the greatest female voices” comment… yes, she has an amazing range, but there is more to singing than just a great voice…Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Bjork, Grace Slick, Janice Joplin etc etc None of them have what would be considered technically great voices, but they were/are all great singers; but that’s just my opinion, and like with anything, it just comes down to personal taste. (but I do love discussing stuff like this😉)

As well as entertainment, music is also an art form, and I suppose when it comes to listening to music, as opposed to making it, that is the the side of it that interests me the most.

I am an audience , despite my mothers voice and participation in choirs and light opera. I was blessed to be surrounded and exposed to music and my tastes are also eclectic.

Sorry Hardtrack, that seemed a fairly steep criticism hence my response.

Each to their own, as I said I'm not a fan but I do recognise the beauty of her voice of which, of course, there have been and are many.

No problem at all (I thought my wink emoji would have conveyed my attempt at humour - those people at Apple will be hearing from me soon!)

Praying for snow, as usual ...

Most of Whitney's greatest songs IHMO were written by the brilliant George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam. I believe 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' is one of the greatest songs of all time.

I'm sure the boys listened to that or 'How Will I know (How Good Steven King Will Be As Coach)' when the CEO was busy getting himself lost in the bush.

I hope the latter is not a metaphor for his time in the big job. At least he found the desk after six months.

BTW, why did the new CEO go on the camp? I'd prefer him making sure we don't sign sponsors affiliated with bikie gangs.
