Pick 7 & 8 is not a ideal for us, it signals a full rebuild. Our midfield will be ultra thin in that case. We'd finish bottom 2 but I guess at least we'll have an early pick next year in the last year before Tasmania.

Humphrey (or retaining Petracca for that matter) provides more than just his playing contribution, he also provide a layer of protection for Langford, Windsor, Lindsay and Tholstrup.

People might disagree with me here but honestly ANB

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for being compassionate when it comes to our players, but ANB left a massive playing and leadership void in our team, and we seemed more than happy to ship him off for a token second round pick

ANB walked straight into Adelaide’s best 23 and leadership group - he was clearly highly rated by them but we gave them an easy out

I don’t think we should be like Dodoro was for Essendon and be a nightmare club to deal, but I think we’ve been too willing to take unders or too happy to overpay just to get deals done under Lamb’s tenure

I think he needs to get this Trac deal exactly right or he should rightly be under the pump going into next year

By being fair traders, that helps in a situation like the Trac one. Gold Coast know we're not trying to screw them. We like win win trades.

No photos will be found on the web for this meeting. Dollars and terms to be discussed which says to me they have some sort of indication that Bailey has interest.

I’ve got the nervous 💩’s

I mean time will tell if it helps us, right? Because I’m not sure when else it’s helped us in the past (of course happy to be pointed to examples)

If Lamb can score Humphrey, or two very high picks, then that will be a win

But anything less won’t be accepted by Dees fans

Along with Viney, who now surely has to play a midfield role to usher these kids (Langford, Windsor, Lindsay and Kolt) through their 2nd and 3rd seasons. Sometimes you get an Oliver who has an immediate impact on contested situations, but most of the time, you'll need to develop their tanks and two way running, as well as core strength.

With Clarry out the door, even if Trac goes and we get Humphrey, it's a midfield that will struggle on the inside and potentially in transition until they get their tanks up IMO.

I don't think Cameron gets out much, or reads the news/talks to anybody... ever.

And generally GC have been a good trading partner over the years. This probably the first time the stakes are so high.

It'll get done... not today, doubt the weekend.. but we'll get there. A deal thats pretty ok whilst not satisfying everyone but palatable to the club(s)

We can only see what is in play.. bound to be elements that are far move forward looking as well.

My view about trading is holistic...I.e. over all did we accomplish much of what we set goals for as opposed micro critiquing every trade.

Yeh, right. So you have sensitive inside information that you decide to share on a fan forum so that, what?

It doesn’t help the process but might hinder it if GC think someone at MFC is leaking. There’s no upside. People genuinely in the know don’t leak on a fan forum because they know their information supply dries up.

We worked out a deal with ANB 6 months before we traded him

The compassionate reasons were very very real, and ANB said he will go to either SA club. We enquired both with Port and Adelaide, and unfortunately neither wanted to pay a lot for him. In fact Port said no thanks.

He is an incredibly valuable player, I agree, but he gave us wonderful service, and he was desperate to get home.

It was the right thing to do, not just by him, but by the entire playing list who all loved and supported Nibbler's decision to go home

We were not happy to ship him off. We worked with him for almost a year to see if there were other options, and he was happy to explore them all before ultimately the decision was made that he would leave. And while he was working through his personal issues, he continued to give us top quality service on and off the field.

Kosi had come to us with compassionate reasons before too, and we would not so much as entertain a trade because we were confident we can work it out

We couldn't with Nibbler, and we got the best deal that we could given he was moving to 2 club state, with only 1 club showing any actual interest in him

I think Adelaide got a lot more than they expected from him

And as much as I love Nibbler, Trac is not on the same level being that he's a star player with 4 years remaining on a very good deal

Just for my own thoughts? What was the trade we gave up for Steven May?

Our midfield won't be that thin. Gawn, Pickett, Viney, Langford, Lindsay, Windsor, Langdon, Culley, Rivers, Tholstrup is ok and we will likely pick up another midfielder in the draft. We might lose some ball winning with Oliver and Petracca going, but we get better kicking skill. With another player on the bench and more flexible players, I think we will likely see more midfield rotations next year.

Any midfield should be ok under Max.

Some claim that I am 0 from 1. But our interest in Flanders is proven. We didnt win that battle but I was still correct on the interest scale.

Many more points raised that only time will be the real judge of accuracy

Example: Bailey meeting with Dees even though Craig Cameron and Baileys manager said it was not happening. I advised the meeting was scheduled and 2 days later the photo came about.

Thanks for that info - I didn’t realise the extent to which we worked through that with ANB

As fans most of us can only base our opinions on the trade itself and any other reports in the media, as well as how they end up working out on field

I haven’t been impressed over the last few years, but also recognise a lot of that is to do with factors outside Lamb’s control, such as how the club is perceived

I just hope that this time more than ever we’re playing hard ball and trying to drive the best deal possible, and, again, are willing to walk away if the right deal isn’t there

Dees got May and Kolojashnij

They don’t need picks, they need Trac and will posture on Humphrey until the last moment they can no longer.

They can send the picks to us for Trac though.

I agree that we can only make judgements on what we know, and unfortunately if you are only privy to what is said in the media, you have every right to judge us as a hot garbage dumpster mess of a club

But media is not reality

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
