2025 Player Reviews: #45 Andy Moniz-Wakefield

Featured Replies

Moniz-Wakefield tore his ACL late in a practice match at Arden Street and is progressing well with his rehab. The club showed faith in the 21 year old medium sized defender by signing a one-year extension in August.

It is very hard to have a break out year coming off a serious knee injury, and even harder if you don't get to do a full pre season.

I'm yet to be convinced that he has the tools to become a genuine AFL player, and particularly not as a defender. Nevertheless, it is a position of weakness for us, so I'm sure he will get opportunities if he performs well at Casey.

It was a shocking time to suffer that injury and I hope he's back to full strength for the upcoming preseason.

He's reaching the age where his career could take off and yes, we definitely need a player like him who can attack of half back as well as nullify an opponent.

I wish his all the best but it is a high hill to climb.

But never forget that Nev Jetta too quite some time to establish himself and became one of our very best small defenders in a long time.

Give it you best, Andy, though I am sure you don’t need me to say that.

AMW has skills; quick, elusive, tough and a good mark for his height! Given an injury free run, he will make it as a back.

Yes I'm backing him in, a very determined young man. Perhaps the club should send him to the States to complete his rehabilitation. 'A la Petracca' prior to the main course.

Love him and can't wait to see him back. Tough, quick like Michael Hibberd and really good 1 on 1 who plays above his height like Neville Jetta

Agree Andy was looking the goods leading up to his senseless season ending injury, he should have a full preseason, let’s hope he can recapture that form again, we really missed his tough, tenacious defensive skill set that would have freed up the Judd.

CAN PLAY,Looking forward to what he can do this year, best 23 for sure!

I believe he has the talent to make it, but given the injury he had, unlikely '26 will be his break-out year (although i hope it is) - more likely '27. But confident he'll be with us a long time.
