To all those potting Lamb, he doesn’t make list decisions by himself. Perhaps our former coach made it clear that we needed him for 26 and Lamb followed his orders.

Post Goodwin’s removal, those plans changed. Seems to be tilting back towards a no DH policy

That's the problem with this club - nobody is held accountable for the terrible decisions that are made (or in Goodwin's case, not until years after the event).

If you want to sit at the big desk, you need to be prepared to accept all the good and bad that comes your way.

Lamb is the list manager, therefore it is him who is ultimately responsible for decisions made in respect of the list.

May to pies, dogs oranyone frees up another $800k to throw at Humphries or similar. Together with Trac and Clarry's savings, we have quite a war chest building

firstly i wouldn't be convinced he's still on the big money that he was on prior to recontracting at the start of 2025 for the 2026 season

if he is, however, is that not part of the issue? we are prepared to take less for him if someone takes up his contract - other clubs are seemingly unwilling to do so

Huh?

CEO - sacked

President - gone

Coach - sacked.

The reason you have a list manager is because the coach is conflicted.

Why would you re-sign a 33 year old for another year ahead of the season on big money? He should have said NO!

What a disgrace to recontract him before the start of the year. Lamb must be held to account.

The only contract info on May that I can find is that he signed a 2-year extension in 2023, which took him through till the end of 2025.

Is there any confirmation that he has/had a contract for 2026?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
