Memo to the new coach 2008 and beyond

Just though we could give the new coach a few hints on what we need and a few traps ND always feel into.

Cam Bruce is not a tagger and never should be used in this role. The only time he should be considered for a defensive role is against Brad Johnson. Bruce is a hard running attacking midfielder, he reads the play well but struggles with his natural game when asked to tag.

Ward and Brown should not be played in the same defense, this may not count as I would expect one our both of these to be deisted or Retire at years end.

Find a role for Brad Green or Trade him and I don't know what this role is, I don't think it is a midfield role maybe a perminate HFF.

Jeff White needs to be accountable for his man, no point being the highest possesion ruckman in the comp if you are getting beating in your main role and picking up cheap kicks. No more standing by yourself on the flanks work hard to contests and rembember what he was good at contested marks, I would say he would be on the lower end for ruckman in this stat.

Get Col Sylvia fit and into our midfield no point having him running of the line to be appling pressure put his big body in the there to start. This is not any body's fault injury has slowed this from happening.

Decide whether Miller is a CHF or key back we all have our opinions and I always thought he has good as a lead up forward but I think his value maybe down back.

Tell Nathan Carroll to get his mongreal back, is no good push around of the ball it's your attack on the ball and contest is where we need his hardness back. He seems to be trying to play a zoning role on his forward, Nathan it is not working get toe to toe.

Travis Johnstone should not start on the bench. He is our most talented midfielder get him on the ground.

Get Robbo back on a HFF, if you want a couple of years out of Neita he must have the 25m to goal line as his zone and that is where Neita has to stay, not CHF, a true FF. Robbo can pinch hit next to him but I'd love to see Neita and Newton(if he can keep improving) out of the square.

Find a tagger with skill, hopefully Bartram will come back and fill this role. Godfrey wil give you everything he has and I respect him for that but he should only come in as a back up.

Teach our players to block and sheppard, to create paths for guys like Tarv and Brock at the stoppages, we let them get man handled.

Finally back your players, our players are at their best when they play attacking hard running football, we look good with high scoring games we don't play well when we have a defensive midset.

Look forward to finding out who you will be and wish you the best of luck and one thing we are tired of losing and expect to win from 2008 and beyond.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
