With one or two unfortunate possible exceptions, @Demonland, can the contents of this thread be gift-wrapped and find their way to Simon?

At worst, a WAFL Mickey Mouse premiership coach.

At best, the man who gave us everything we ever dreamed of.

And yet all dreams must come to an end eventually. I salute the dream; for what is sport, but dreams made manifest?

Thank you Goody.

We'll meet you further on up the road.

I love this thread.

I am a 65yo Demons supporter who, until 2021, was beginning to wonder if he'd live to savour a premiership (being too young in 1964 to understand). Simon Goodwin has my deepest respect and gratitude for building on the work of Roos and Jackson to make us relevant for several years and finally to win that elusive premiership. Thank you.

SG achieved these goals with humility, good humour and the well-deserved respect of the players, administration and supporters.

Iโ€™m only 63 but share similar sentiments! Thought might never see a Demons Flag, so thanks Simon Goodwin you delivered one!

Will always be famous in Demons history!

For all the talk about the embarrassing loss against St Kilda recently, in 2021 we were 44 points down halfway through the 3rd quarter against Geelong in the final match of the season. The Saints game was a dead rubber between two teams who weren't in contention for finals, that match against Geelong was to decide who finishes top of ladder. It was the most important game in two decades for the club until that point. We all know what happened. I shed a tear when Max kicked the goal after the siren.

Goody has given us some incredible highs as well as the lows. Will forever be thankful.

On to the next chapter now.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.

The Demons were sloppy all day and could not stop the run and carry of the fast moving Hawthorn as the Hawks cruised to an easy 36 point win. Is the season over yet?
