If someone can get to JT. Let him know of a draft prospect for 2030 draft. U13 Vampires kid (won’t share is name for now) but plays in the ruck. Super smooth mover, and an all round gifted athlete. Has a flawless kicking technique as well and a phenomenal leap. He’d be close to 6ft now at age 13.I’d be surprised if he didn’t go top 10 in the draft even this far out. Best player of his age bracket in the SMJFL without question.

Choco could no doubt train that out of him. 😡🤬☹️

What about last year when Tim Lamb was going to trade out the picks that nabbed us Langford and Lindsay for a 28 year old Dan Houston who would’ve helped us get from 14th to 12th and Alan Richardson went ‘we need to get older not younger’ then oh wait never mind we need to go to the draft let’s rebuild talk about a pair of gooses that don’t know where we are. 0 faith.

When McRae took over the pies he had a demands for his ideal playing list. This included making some big decisions on fan favourites including paying out contracts and accepting "unders" in trade compensation for both Treloar and Grundy.

Can't help but feel we may be fast approaching the need to take a similar approach to re-set and rebalance the list.

The trick is finding suitors, keeping enough talent on the list to continue challanging and acquiring our desired players.

We don't have the luxury of a Daicos walking into our list.

Grundy was under a big injury cloud. 3 of their most important players are father sons. this year they brought in 3 first 18 types players to bolsters their list.

Think most people are pretty well aligned here,

For me only one of Sparrow or Viney can be in the side as they offer the same amounts of nothing, tackling pressure yes, disposal efficiency no, goal awareness as a resting fwd nothing

As a 25yo myself I'm so jealous of teams who have 1 club legends to reflect on like Geelong, Hawks, Pies. It's why I've always been desperate to see Clarry be a dee for life, but the smart footballing decision is to move on from him. Trac, Rivers, Pickett, ??Bergman??, Sparrow/Viney, Windsor/Lindsay and Langford offers you enough depth there.

Tmac for Derksen is an easy direct swap, and Petty is an AA FB once May retires and he gets a proper go in the role.

The worst thing we can do is give Spargo 2 years coz we feel sorry for him being injured and give Henderson/Culley another chance to prove their worth as late additions to the list. Mature bodies sure, upside nothing

The most important person in the Football Dept after Senior Coach is the List Manager. Watching the Swansv Bulldogs. Tim Lamb has let go JJ doing a great job on Richard’s, Brodie Grundy nearly BOG James Harmes going well. Watched GWS last week. Toby Bedford ran and ran and ran again and kicked a clutch goal Chad Warner now a regular at Freo, Jayden Hunt continues to break lines at West Coast. To cover these losses Lamb has brought in Well we know who he has brought in … no one. End result our list has nowhere near the depth we had in 2021. His results must be scrutinised at years end.

Is it the List Manager who lets players go, or the Coaching panel?

I think it is the Coaching panel.

Our game plan doesn't look too bad. Our list management does. I know Spargo didn't play today and I love Bowey and McVee but it is clear we are too short across the ground. Who do we bring in Billings, Wowey, Pup or Laurie to fill the void?

Hopefulyy Kentfield makes it and Kalani comes soon.

We get obliterated by taller players.

I’d keep Sestan which means we have 2 rookies and 4 to 5 draft picks if Oliver goes.

Listening to Goodwin presser it appears their strategy is to improve via the draft & our existing older players are still capable of featuring at the next flag assault, not the course that the cats, pies & lions have taken, can’t see many of our senior players will request for a trade if we finish bottom 6 in 26 if not this season

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.
