Will be interesting to see our Energy levels this week. Will they be mentally spent after losing that game? I know I am.

Yeah good question.

I have a gut feel we'll put in a terrific performance and a stinker either side of the bye. Just not sure in which order.

We've shown we can match it with the better teams this year so a win over GC isn't out of the question.

We've also been BOG ordinary against some of the bottom 10 sides this year, so a poor loss against Port could also be on the cards.

If you read Bigfooty, many Port supporters would also take great joy in that.

i live in adelaide and yes they have felt that way for the past 5 years, most of them also think that carr is part of the problem and he is the coaching currently abit like how we did with roos and simon

Trade JvR !!

Couldn't muster one goal yesterday and he's our big hope up forward? Nope!!

Needs to return home to Perth

Maybe as part of Jackson deal

Wishing and Hoping just doesn't do it.

Enough chances.

Time to cut the losses!!!

Now you can just see a few spitting their coffee on this but it's an interesting ( to me ) posit.

If you're a realist , and that's a possible out for many a football supporter ( because they're not ) , then sometimes you need to take a step back and look at thing with a broader perspective.

I remember an earlier game against the bloods . He was very good in a very raw way but certainly announced he was here and might do much.

A few seasons later.. hmm. His trajectory has taken a dive. The idea he would , or could be of some value in a Jackson deal provokes thought.

They are not like for like but which would you prefer playing in Red and Blue ? I know who I'd take.

It's always about bettering the list.

No change Nashman? You want to persist with JVR? No room for Jeffo??

He didn't kick any goals at Casey this week @picket fence :p

Today was the day. Hard to get enthusiasm now.

Is Salem giving us anything?

Langford needs rest

Laurie in for 4 weeks

Salem has become very inconsistent.

But I'd still play him.

We are lacking in depth.

As long as Petty doesn't play fwd, I'm happy.

Never said he would get dropped but this year he was omitted after kicking 2 goals the week prior.

Wasn't already posted it in here that he melksham and oliver missed a week each for discplinary reasons

Fritsch found form against Essendon, was not a footballing decision to drop him.

It's hard to get excited about this one.

After such a deflating display by the umps.

It has taken a bit of enjoyment from the game.

Also tbh it's really frustrating that we are clearly better than our ladder position proves.

I mean we beat the lions in Qld and technically beat Cwood.

So it's also a shame that we are just so inconsistent.

Had we made finals we could have been a real wild card.

I feel our season is well and truly over.

I think if we had given half as much of our last effort against St Kilda we would have demolished them.

I am starting to believe we have a significant motivation problem and unfortunately that comes down to our coach.

It's time to start to find another.

Goody's insistence on playing Petts as a fwd is just wrong for me. And as great as a coach as he's been, it's time for him to go.

Our fwd line issues are still unresolved. Again we kicked poorly against Cwood.

Every single game we do it.

And while I think we played outstandingly well last Monday, it's too little too late.

Petty missing that goal with his first attempt sums our fwd line up.

While the pies couldn't miss.

I'm sorry if this is so negative but like the club itself , it's hard to stay motivated and enthusiastic when we kick so poorly and simply don't turn up for some games.

Like my support, we all just all over the place.

Just a question, where do you suggest Petty plays and who does he replace?

Yeah but he was emergency for the ones and as consequence did NOT play at Casey, but 10 gls 3 in two games and we are CRYING out for accurate goal kickers!

Petty plays at Casey in the BACKLINE!

Not really. There’s no one to replace him and he’s being going ok. Not amazing in the weekend but he’s a good size and we know he can play. Howe is a very talented backmen who’s mobile, strong and has a fantastic mark.

Jefferson should not be considered after his last horrible AFL game until he plays well against at least one decent VFL team imo

He can’t ruck so won’t be taking JVR’s spot. Although JVR is not far behind Jeffo in playing poorly. AJ will be back in for JVR next week unless he plays well

2 hours ago, Roost it far said:

Well he can only run in a straight line at any speed- just a fact, so you would think the backline but May Turner Lever is working well.

Fantastic news that Viney is apparently over his concussion!

I’d prefer him back as well but the backline is sorted

It's a good question and thanks for the lack of irony or criticism. And I'll admit I may be off base on this but I feel he is a natural defender with his athletic nature.

The problem for me having him playing fwd is his lack of contested marking and goal kicking.

I don't think I'm alone in this. I just think he's often slow to get in front of his opponent. He may do well in using his defending skills to punch the ball and get it to ground but we need more marks i50s.

He also gets out jostled in situations and struggles to take a pack mark.

But I do acknowledge we are probably short in replacements.

So you have me here.

I suggested the possibility of May but he was brilliant against the pies and I admit I'm wrong here.

Tmac claims he's done fwd. Jvr is not delivering.

If Petty goes back we still have him, May Lever and Tmac. Not too shabby.

This would free Disco who is stronger in my humble opinion.

Or we just hope AJ omes good.

That's pretty much it. But it's two options.

I just think we can't win games with our main tall constantly kicking well under a goal a game.

I don't think anyone can claim Petty has been very good in his fwd role. Credit to him for playing in a role he's not great at but something has to give.

Fritta and Jake stay fwd.Jvr or AJ for ruck. Maybe Jeffo for someone not performing.

That's all we have ATM.

I was really excited when Petty after only a few games fwd scored six v the tigers many moons ago but those days have faded. I was excited about Jvr too but despite another ordinary day, I'm not sure. Still hold some hope.

Maybe if we move Petty Jvr will help better with Turner.

Disco is a strong mark and a good set shot so that is why I want it tried.

It's not like what we have been doing with Petty for a year has worked. Surely that means it's time for a change.

Just the facts maam.

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
