This year Turner has kicked some goals from deep in pockets / difficult angles and can take contested mark. Considering we’re a team that struggles to score and has players that struggle with set shots with very little difficulty be it angle or distance I’d like to see him play fwd for the whole game.

We will get smashed, we’re not playing well enough to get anywhere near hawthorn, it’ll 60-70 points

Settle down. The only top 8 side they've beaten are the Giants in Tassie. This is a team that got smashed by Port a few weeks ago

I respectfully say I’m staggered by your statement.

IMHO it’s been Van Rooyens LACK of mobility that has seen him glued to goal square and behind his opponent in all his five games this season.

He hasn’t seemed interested in offering a lead and the only mobility I’ve seen from him is when he jogs to the Centre to relieve Max in the ruck after a goal.

The other knock on him, IMO, is he the opposite of agile.

Petty, on the other hand, whilst not quick, does get mobile and certainly isn’t stationary close to goal.

Our most mobile tall forward, by the length of the Flemington straight, is Dan Turner.

Rooey is a star. Who is to say he hasn't been hampered with those back issues in the early rounds? At his best he is easily our best forward. Keen to see him kick a bag this weekend

My concern about this game - and its a huge one - is the fact that we aren't playing Campbell. Sam Mitchell was a great player but not the cleanest, and has taken his tactics to coaching. With the form that Max is in, I have absolutely no doubt that Lloyd Meek will be instructed to attack Max to the very edge of legality, if not beyond. If we had a genuine backup, that wouldn't happen because it wouldn't save Hawthorn from playing against a good ruckman. But I fear for the treatment that Max is going to get.

I agree with old dee that Melksham is a faster footballer than Jeffo, in that he creates fast, attacking ball movement to our advantage. His foot speed may not be quicker (though he's by no means slow), but his ability to pressure opponents into mistakes (ie. turnovers) and his super vision and deft kicking IMO mean we are more likely to create play quickly, whether that's fast ball movement, bullet passes or splitting a pack for kozzie or chin to crumb onto.

Jeffo hasn't shown much of any of these things, however it's not apples with apples. He hasn't the experience yet and so far relies upon separation from the contest to do his best work, which is mark and a set shot on goal

I believe he'll come good. Needs game time and significant development. A less crowded forward line and better delivery i50 would help massively. Imagine him in a similar forward line to Collingwoods where there's plenty of space with Daicos, Sidey, Pendles, Houston, Quaynor and others feeding him. Not that they need him or I'm comparing Collingwood to us, moreso highlighting that our 4 year habit of long bombing i50 kills the craft of a KPF

And Kolt needs to put in a good game very soon. He shows flashes, but doesn't get involved enough for my liking. Yes, yes, like Jeffo, he only has a handful of games under his belt, but for all his speed and confidence, he doesn't do enough. Chutzpah will only get you so far. Had the chance to nail a few last week, none of which he looked confident kicking. A 25 possession game with 3 goals would do him the world of good. I wouldn't drop him, just that he needs a breakthrough game soon for his own development

I fear we’re playing one short with Jefferson. I hope to he’ll I’m wrong.

I haven’t seen him play a decent game for Casey even.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
