I wonder how much of this was Goody bending to the will of the players. It just feels like we have really let the standards drop.

I just hope we donโ€™t do something foolish like trade away our F1 as we are destined to be a bottom 2 team as it stands.

If we could somehow turn Trac and Clarry into Humphrey and Flanders this will all be worth it.

Pipe dream Iโ€™m sure, sadly.

No offense to my beloved club, but why the [censored] would Humphrey come to us?

Letโ€™s say in some dream world Gold Coast are willing to trade him for Trac because theyโ€™re high, why would Humphrey choose to play for us and not say the Pies, who play in front of 80,000+ each week, rarely travel and just made another prelim?

Yes you definitely want to drive to Casey, play in Alice, enjoy Sunday night time slots and have mids kick over your head. Itโ€™s the dream!

Just watched the 7News segment

My take on this after watching this all unfold today (Probably should have been doing uni work haha), is that King told Clarry that he needs to adapt to his game style, and if he doesn't, then he's not guaranteed a spot in the team. Clarry has clearly not taken this well, and it's been reported that he stormed out of the meeting.

I believe the club probably has a similar stance to Trac; they're happy for him to go if they get something back, which is why it's been reported that they are happy to pay some of his salary. The club probably knows there isn't a market if he stays on his current contract.

Of course he stormed out. Clarry is not one to take constructive feedback well at all. This has been a theme his whole career.

His ego finally gets put back into place and instead of putting his head down to work his [censored] off he storms off like an immature individual that he is.

As i said, it took Steven King all of 12 minutes to deliver a simple message that Simon Goodwin couldn't do for 3 years.

Kudos to Kingy.

No arguments from me!

Gotta admit, I love Clarry. Hilarious stuff at the airport

These pathetic 'journos' deserve this based on the nonsense they regularly post and following people around in their personal time when they are struggling

I mean, even when someone isnโ€™t struggling itโ€™s still bizarre to stalk them.

If I was at the airport trying to get organised for a flight and some moron was following me around with a camera trying to get me to answer questions it would take all of my self restraint not to punch him in the mouth.

Apologies for getting these two wrong.

You didn't get them wrong. The info was correct at the time.

In that 7 video of Clarry at the airport, right at the end, he says something about โ€œI fn hate the blokeโ€. Anyone make out who he was talking about?

Trac just texted Clarry

"Thanks for the chop out with the media Claz"

Wow so our once midfield that went bang bang bang gone! Whoโ€™s going to replace Trac & Oliver??? What is their strategy as unless if ur replacing them with ready made talent we are finishing at the bottom!

Not sure if you've been paying attention or not. But that game style died long ago

Humphrey will come to us because the AFL want Trac at Gold Coast.

Rowell isnโ€™t selling memberships.

But I agree, anyone who thinks our facilities arenโ€™t a massive issue is bonkers.

Is there any danger we could just have an uneventful off season? maybe we bring in 1-2 players, maybe we trade someone, no huge shots, no paying guys salary to play elsewhere

Unfortunately, no.

What I was told about Clayton in the last weeks shifted with King coming in.

And regarding McVee, I think everything I reported was correct. He met with King, was happy and said he would recommit, before yet another backflip.

Apologies for getting these two wrong.

The Clayton one has devastated me but Iโ€™m trying to side with the need to refresh the club. Clearly Trac, may and Clayton arenโ€™t culture guys required in the fresh start.

That - - - and the announcement of the Devils list building 'grifts' - I mean 'gifts' - changed the game I reckon. In years to come this week might be looked back on as FREEDOM day.

Yeah - that would be the last four years.

Best guess of the outcome right now:

Clarry to Sydney - they will back their culture in. Goody link too. Will have to pay ~500K/yr and get little in return aside from around a Mill a year cleared off the books

Trac to GC - something like Flanders/pick. Trac can join the grass eaters up there.

We come away with a couple of picks, a player and 2 mill off the books

Wrinkle cream and vodka companies love to see a Melbourne off season coming.

Not to mention Bailey Smiths blatant homophobic mad Monday costume, that received no punishment, yet Rankine got 4 weeks for 1 word.

He was dressed as Brad Pitt.

Rankine getting four weeks didnโ€™t achieve anything good.

Clarry telling him to โ€œf:)k offโ€ is about the best handling of any AFL issue this year. Should be promoted. And imo isnโ€™t going anywhere.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
